BM Card rooms in Texas?
 

Just move to the TX, I certainly miss all the close cardrooms in cali. Are there any cardrooms in texas?

I just recently tapped back into online as well and it appears US citizens are unable to withdrawal so I'm stuck w/ out a game! [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]

Where in TX are you? If you are near Dallas/FW the two OK casionos are your best bets and if you are to the east then Shrevport is another option.

There is one legal one, in Eagle Pass, TX. It's about 2 hours southwest of San Antonio. They have about 13-15 tables (I didn't really count). They have 3/6, 5/10 limit, with 2/5 and 10/20 NL on occasion. The place is subpar in comparison to the Louisiana casinos, and the chips suck ass. But hey, it's a place to play.

Winstar in Oklahoma north of Dallas and the Horseshoe and Eldorado in Shreveport, La are popular amongst Texan poker players, as well some of the other Louisiana casinos down in Southern Louisiana. Just depends on where you are living. Texas is a huge state.

Im not sure why you think this place is legal, but as a police officer in Texas, I can say Im 99% sure its not legal if a rake is being taken.

I can say that it is 100% legal, because it is on the Kickapoo reservation, which is the only federally-recognized tribe in Texas, or at least the only one which meets the definitions under the statute that allows Native Americans to build casinos on their lands.

As to the OP, I'm not sure why this thread hasn't been locked, because any cardrooms other than the one in Eagle Pass are illegal, and since post count means a lot on this forum, people who do know of cardrooms around this area are going to be less likely to share than if you were someone who has been around for a while. Maybe that's unfair, but we have no way of knowing who you are.

Have you never heard of this place Ice? I'm not sure why it's legal either but it obviously is. I've seen their advertisements in magazines touted as the "only legal casino in Texas". I don't think they are operating this place under the radar.lol Not sure WHY it's legal but I'd love to know. Also, this is a big casino, not just a poker room.

Nope, Ive never heard of it, but apparently it is legal , so I stand corrected. Im in Dallas so I dont get that far south (west) very often.

I hear ya Ice. I live 30 minutes from the Louisiana border and have never been out near there but I've seen the casino mentioned a ton on poker forums and also seen their advertisements a couple times.

What cracks me up is when someone says they are going to be in Texas on business or are just moving here and ask where they should go play cards and Eagle Pass is always mentioned. I think people don't realize how freaking big Texas is. It's 2.5 hrs from San Antonio and that is the nearest big city, it's just waaaay out there.

I'd still like to know how it's legal?

it's on an indian reservation and doesnt have to comply w/ antt-gambling laws.

all,

i went several years ago because i was in the town for work. there was only one table going. they have a lot of tables just none of them running due to such low turn out.

while i was waiting for a seat i overheard table chatter in spanish and thought, "they better not pull that while im the hand." once i got to the table i realized there was only one other person who was a native english speaker. there were a couple players at the table who didnt speak english. when the floor came over to settle issues it was done in spanish.

living in texas im used to being exposed to spanish speaking population all of the time but it was funny expecting an english only rule to be enforced and realizing that english was the exception in that card room.

I would suspect there are some in Austin; you just have to know somebody. There are several here in Dallas and we are much closer to Winstar. At one the other night I was told that the TABC (the liquor enforcement people) were threatening to shut the place down if they continued to serve alcohol without carding; i.e., they knew they are running an illegal poker room and were fine with that, but giving away alcohol to potential minors is not okay. I am not sure if this means the police are being paid to look the other way or if the TABC is just to lazy to pick up the phone and let the police know.

this is the third post about underground games in Austin in this thread (I already removed the other two yesterday), since neither RR or myself are around to keep an eye on the thread I think its best that we lock it before it crosses the line. Remember - disclosing information about underground card rooms is against B&M rules, this is to protect the regular players in the card games from getting raided.
