Front Desk Tip at Borgata?

Anybody try this at Borgata? I'm going down mid-week next week (comp room if that matters) and I'd like to give it a shot.

Re: Front Desk Tip at Borgata?

The two times I stayed there (one comp room, one pay cheap weekday room), I tried the $20 thing at check in. When I gave my credit card, I pulled out a $20 and put it on the counter in front of me and asked "if there are any complimentary upgrades, I'd appreciate it.". I think that gets the gist across.

Both times, the girl seemed to know what was up. I pretty much got a "I'll see what I can do for you", but both times she said she was booked. Once she went to a manager.

So I'm 0/2 at the Borg. But it can't hurt to try.

Yeah this would be a fairly crowded time of the year for them...but hey nothing to lose

this is -ev at the borg from what i heard and experienced. borg sells out most of the time so it's harder to pull this off there but the ghetto fabulous taj mahal works like a charm.

How is it -EV? If they can't upgrade you, do they then do something bad to you?

Yeah I am curious to see any reports if the $20 trick works anywhere in AC.
Too bad that site only has LV hotels/casinos.

"4. Most clerks will know to give you back the money if they cannot offer you the upgrade."

I have actually heard of this working at the Borg. Someone said $20-$50 though.

Maybe no upgrades, but comps are certainly available. My fiancee got the room free (two nights) playing $15 blackjack and quarter slots about six times in a three-month period. We also got Cafeteria comps and our comp dollars.

I only play poker and have a black card. It's not hard. 500 hours in a year.

I didn't know that. I play there a lot and still have a lowly red card. I guess I should get on it.

does this apply to all limits, even 1/2? i usually only play 1/2 and i usually do at the taj ive gotten about 15-20 hours at taj and although its their busy season they seem to care less about helping me get any comp room or food. i really like the poker room there though but borgata is nice too. are they easy to get food/room comps from or should i stick with taj and just need more hours?

Somebody told me that it was 500 comp dollars worth of play. So 2/4 would take 1000 hours, everything else 500 hours (up until whatever limits start giving you more). But this was a random drunk sitting next to me, so I'd take it with a bucket of salt.

My friend tried this once. Clerk took the $20 and didn't give the upgrade. Second hand info, and I have no idea why he didn't raise hell and demand the $20 back.

1000 comp dollars, not hours. Play 10/20-up (dunno NL equiv for $2/hr) and get it in 500 hrs.

Re: Front Desk Tip at Borgata?

2/5 NL and up is also $2 an hour.

It'd be pretty tacky to raise hell and demand your money back, since officially the $20 is just a tip presented simultaneously with your ask, and not actually a fee for a service the clerk failed to render. If you can afford to stay at the Borgata, you can afford to not make a scene over $20.
