OOT doppelgangers

These are posters that for some combination of sn, avatar or posting style similarity are inexorably linked in your mind. I have 2:

Anacardo/Borodog (both had cowboy avatars, names similar)

guids/Blarg (no avatar - names similar - I'm not sure there not the same person)

These two post so differently.

gumpzilla/bobman0330 - both have very similar posting styles and very good grammar

Re: OOT doppelgangers

i think this phenomenon has been discussed before, but never had its own thread.

the two I always linked in this way were RunDownHouse/TheMainEvent

3, 4, 5 letter words, each word capitalized, no spaces, both have black men as their avatars.

Re: OOT doppelgangers

for the longest time i kept getting newhizzle (of brandi fiasco fame) and veganmav (garbage eater) confused, i think its because they both come off as socially awkward idealistic kids who both played and succeeded at high stakes poker.

theredpill2/theredpill3

I don't know what it is, but these are just so similar. Must be the number at the end of the screenname.

these are both ridiculous

Re: OOT doppelgangers

I think you're missing the point. It's linked in *your mind*. Therefore nothing is ridiculous if you explain it. I'm not saying they look alike or act alike in real life. Like Bruce Springsteen and Bob Seger will always be linked with me because I heard both their music about the same time and mainly their initials.

But thanks for contributing.

i think i used to get alobar and aloysius mixed up long ago cause of the "alo..." names and they both make reasonably intelligent posts. but i might just be making that up, it was a long time ago.

also does getting myself confused with mason malmuth count?

mmbtone and mebenhoe always threw me off. Both good posters, but I always would mix them up.

90% of people without an avatar get lumped together as the same person to me.

I think I used to get Blarg and Jakethebake confused a long time back.

Despite their differences, I've also gotten guids/Blarg confused on NUMEROUS occasions. I still can't differentiate some parts of their personalities... I'll forget which is staunchly Republican, which writes endlessly on pretty much any topic he can find, etc.

I'm pretty sure I like one of them, but I don't know which.

Pretty sure it's Blarg I like more, then. Since they blend together so much in my mind the only thing that sticks out about guids is his political views, which I pretty much always disagree with.

Oh well. I'm sure I'd be able to keep them straight if they had avatars, but only one other person seems to have this problem with them, so I'm not gonna complain.

I said RDH/SackUp/TME and LFS/SPR.

Re: OOT doppelgangers

Quick tip on the Blarg/guids confusion: guids' posts use the misspelled word "teh" frequently, whereas Blarg's posts average about 5000 words. Hope this helps.

Aloysius/skunkworks: easy to confuse, both are Orientals living in the LA area. Pro tip: most of Al's posts start with "ahahaha".

Personally, I regularly get NT! and Mason Malmuth confused for some reason.

Los Feliz Slim and Kneel B4 Zod are two I've gotten confused in the past. 3 words, Z's in their names, etc.

For the record, I am def not a staunch republican, as the whole republican party is now basically a bunch of democrats, and the democrats (stupid ex-hippies) have moved to socialism. Im a fiscal conservative that likes to do blow of strippers titties.

Re: OOT doppelgangers

asofel & alobar: just the name similarity I think.

Macdaddy Warsaw & CallMeIshmael: young dudes with long names who like ITAOTS and Kid A way too much.

RunDownHouse & TheMainEvent is a good one too. I used to get Private Joker mixed up with them as well (black-guy avatar I guess), but not really anymore.
