WSOP Day 1 Seat Assignment & Count
I just got done registering for the ME. They assigned me Table 92. When I went looking for table 92, I found it. In the tent!!!! I am not happy about that at all. So I went and found a supervisor. He said they are not using the tent and I will be reassigned at the beginning of the day tomorrow. Well see. On a side note, I asked the registration lady how many had signed up. She said 4,000. Should be interesting to see where we end up.

Re: WSOP Day 1 Seat Assignment & Count
I heard the main reason they weren't using the tent was that someone had crashed a car into it and knocked out the air-conditioning. Can anyone confirm?

The man said only 250 had registered on Monday, but that Friday and Saturday were filling up. I asked if they were assigning people to the tent. He said yes, on a random basis. I chose Friday, and got table 102, which is in the tent. I hope OP is correct about his supervisor report. Further, the man I registered with said they were using Seat 10 on the cards that printed out. So, I don't know about the 9-handed rumor. When I left the Rio, there was maybe 350 people standing in line. |
Re: WSOP Day 1 Seat Assignment & Count
Do they have a separate line for people who pre-registered and just need to pick up seat assignments, or does everybody have to get in one big line?

Re: WSOP Day 1 Seat Assignment & Count
Reading this I'm glad I checked in yesterday. No line at all and it was all taken care of in 10 mins. (incl. getting an ITIN number).
Got a seat inside the building. |

Re: WSOP Day 1 Seat Assignment & Count
anyone know if there has been official word on when registration closes? Can one still register for say Monday over the weekend?
|
Re: WSOP Day 1 Seat Assignment & Count
IIRC they were accepting registrations last year until 3:00 PM on day 1D.

Re: WSOP Day 1 Seat Assignment & Count
Just got done with registration, the count is up to 4,500+ and the estimated count is 7,500 to 8,500. (The unofficial offical's guess)

Re: WSOP Day 1 Seat Assignment & Count
I guess we'll find out about the tent tomorrow.
I won my seat a couple nights ago and was told by a couple of the floors that the fourth Day 1 flight (Monday, which on the original schedule was a day off) was very recently added because they weren't going to use the tent at all, and that the 3rd Day 1 flight (Sunday) was locked up. Less tables = needing a 4th day to spread out the field inside the Amazon Room, supposedly. What amazes me is that it was known within a day of the very beginning of the WSOP that the tent was a disaster, yet in the whole of 6 weeks no one - no one - thought to take one grave shift's worth of manpower to move the tables into the area where the poker kitchen is and vice versa and roll from there. Oh well. |

Huge line at the Rio right now. [/ QUOTE ] Do you mean "huge" as in long, or "huge" as in 30 different lines that have over a 100 people in each line? That's a "huge" crowd to me. 1 line with 200 people in it, is small compared to the line waiting to gets tickets to a U2 concert back in the day. |

Re: WSOP Day 1 Seat Assignment & Count
All,
Someone wrote that Sat and Sun were sold out and that was 3k each day? If that is correct, that's 6k + ~1600 + Monday. Possibly more entrants this year than last? If all that is correct, that would turn out to be a pretty big surprise to most everyone and an indicator that poker is staying quite a bit stronger than many people thought. |

[/ QUOTE ] I wouldn't say "quite a bit stronger" since the progression of entries over the past few years would mean we'd need a few thousand more this year to be in the "quite a bit stronger" range. If it is in the 9000 range then we can say that poker is doing the same but we'd need a couple years' more results to get a real indicator. |
Re: WSOP Day 1 Seat Assignment & Count
looks like 7500 +- 500 based on day 1a's #'s

Re: WSOP Day 1 Seat Assignment & Count
I just registered an hour or so ago and was told they were at 4,600 over all four days right now.

Re: WSOP Day 1 Seat Assignment & Count
I just registered as well for Day 1b today.
Table 196 Seat #1 I was also told at that time, that there are 1520 players today,1500+ tomm(CLOSED and not available as of now for registration) and 1035 on Monday. I assuming the next few days Sat. winners will be filling in Mondays "shortage" to even out the #'s ~stephen feraca |

All,
"Someone wrote that Sat and Sun were sold out and that was 3k each day? If that is correct, that's 6k + ~1600 + Monday." As has been posted in a few threads, that initial report was apparently incorrect and they were temporarily closed at 1500, not 3000. Looks like about 5,300 so far based on stephen's post. |
