Lounge Ladies: did you find \"The Secretary\" sexy?
 

I have not seen it but apparently it's about a secretary (Maggie Gyllenhaal) who gets into BDSM with her boss (James Spader). Wondering if I should rent it and watch it with my wife.

Seen any of the reviews for it? I seem to remember it at the time as getting dissed as basically for cheap thrills, but not a particularly serious or well-done flick -- as in, the implications of its themes were only skin deep, and not played out all that well. Your basic exploitation of something topical. If it could serve as sexy-time inspiration, though, maybe that's all that matters.

doubtful...it wasn't sexy and was kind of sad/sickening to me...i thought the movie was mediocre...

Sorry I haven't seen the movie! I remember someone (diebitter or dom maybe?) saying that it was okay. I really can't remember who it was.

For what it's worth, I happen to think James Spader is kinda sexy. Except when he's talking. If he’d just keep his mouth shut and recline on the sofa he'd be pretty sexy. I wouldn’t complain.

I found it mediocre and not a turn on.

Not enough kink to be exceptional on that level, and not enough intimacy to be sexy on that level.

I give it a solid "meh".

I remember this getting lots of very good reviews and being nominated/winning awards. I'm sure there was some backlash about it, too, though.

I can't recall ever hearing them utter an interesting or particularly well-delivered line, so they haven't registered with me as annoying that way yet.

I can easily do without Simpson or Biel, and what I have in mind for Ms. Alba does not require talking. In fact, talking would be very difficult for her.
