Shannon Elizabeth gets angled... and then litterally cries about it

this is the fragmented one sided account of a sobbing shannon elizbeth during the 1st break of the 1k stud8b

this is how shannon explained it to annie duke:
shannon is at showdown in a pot where she check called the river with 2 pair against someone showing either 1 or 2 kings, the guy says kings up, she mucks her hand, and it turns out he had only 1 pair of kings, this was some point during the first 2 levels

she is almost hysterical at points of this story, it was pretty weird because the first 2 blind levels of this tournament are the most useless levels ever so the pot was probably only 1/5 of her stack at the absolute maximum

she busted one table over from me and when she busted out around midnightish she fired off some sort of explative that i missed but was enough to make a pokernews dude shocked

this combined with bond18s shannon experience...
Boom more gossip here not a rickrolll

People acting stupid/childish at poker tables probably isn't that uncommon, however when it's a high profile person it's alot more noticable.

The fact she's a celebrity (a non-poker one) might even be the cause of her childish behavior. She might have a certain sense of entitlement because she feels "special"

shannon had a right to be upset about the guy lying about his hand.

2 nights ago some ugly old hag sitting next to me pulled that on some young kid and it worked. total sleazy move. the hag didn't even have a pair just ace high.

Easy remedy: don't take people's word for it. AKA don't be a sap. And especially don't be a sap, and then cry about how big a sucker you are. Bad form.

There is nothing crazy about crying when you get cheated. I remember watching my 10 year old cousin's LL baseball game and the ump called a strike on a ball that hit the plate. The poor kid is called out and returns to the dugout crying his eyes out. It wasn't that he struckout or hit into a double play or created an error - he knows how to deal with that kind of failure - he was cheated, and there is nothing he could do about it. I remember that feeling. It really sucks. Crying is probably the natural human reaction.

That said, most of us learn by the age of (she's 30 or so?) X that crying doesn't solve anything and that people are going to try to cheat you. However, this reaction is natural and innocent. I find it offensive that people are making fun of her for this. She got cheated, she cried. Guess what? She's human.

Most of us got fooled by this once in our poker careers. I'd also venture to say that those of us who haven't, most likely started in home games playing with other noobs who could easily mis-call their hand, so we had to see it to believe it anyway. Shannon likely started much later, and was taught by experienced players who never called their hand incorrectly, and would never lie to her at the poker table.

.... is comparing her reaction to that of a 10 year old supposed to make her look better or worse? I mean, it's a pretty fair comparison, I just always thought reacting like a child playing a little league game, when you're an adult playing an adult game, is a bad thing.

And, in reality, this is more analagous to her making an error than an ump making a bad call.

Being honest here....we've seen alot of stories about her acting childish, crying, throwing fits, etc when she gets beat, sometimes even when it's not a "bad" beat. I just wonder how much of this stems from living a movie star lifestyle where you always get your way, no one ever says no to you and people bow at your feet? Poker is the ultimate leveling of the playing field. She seems nice enough, but I just wonder if it's hard for to cope with not always getting her way, as she's grown accustomed to in the rest of her life outside of poker.

Anyone dare to say Phil Hellmuth wasn't a spoiled brat, always getting his way as a child? Resemblance?

She seems to be pretty emotional. Like three weeks ago I saw her crying and being consoled by two friends after she busted out of one of the early bracelet events.

CSC - This seems kind of ridiculous.
She cries and is human so nobody can make fun of her for how over-the-top it is?

What if she pounded her fists on the table and shouted 'mommy, mommy, mommy!!'??
Would still be human and somewhat natural if she was like 4 years old? Still can't criticize her immature behavior?

She lost a few chips in a poker-tourney.
If this exact same thing had happened to me (unlikely because I doubt I would muck without seeing) I would think, "Geez, that was dumb of me" and move on.

But she wasn't just shedding a couple tears about it. Evidently she was closer to irrational/hysterical.

If I came on here and gave the story of some guy angling me like that and it really hurt to lose my chips so I ended up bawling my eyes out at the table because it was really super-duper unfair you don't think people should make fun of me?

It appears that her reaction to this is 100% ridiculous.

There is a simple solution to this problem. Don't let your cards go until the pot is either pushed to you or the other guy.

You mean take responsibility for your own stupid mistakes, rather than blame the dealer/other players/"the man"/the floorperson/etc.? OK, but what if you make hollywood movies and are uber hawt? Suely an exception must be made, and your childish, irrational, emotional outbursts should be applauded, or at least tolerated.

I think there's a lot in that. Attractive women too, can often breeze through life with people, well ok guys, making allowances for them and not calling them out on BS. But poker can be brutally fair, dishing out the same sh*t to everyone, and if you're not mentally strong enough, you will suffer for it.

Where the f*ck is she getting all this time for poker tournies? Doesn't she have an acting career to be working on and A-list parties to go to? Seems that if she's got so much other stuff going for her that she shouldn't be getting so caught up emotionally in poker. Thought she was playing for fun unless I missed something about her trying to go pro :/

For the life of me, I will NEVER understand why people actually muck their hands when someone just calls out a hand and hasn't shown yet. I have never, and unless I'm out of my mind at the time, WILL never do this.
