Affordable Slim Fit Dress Shirts

Anyone here have some good advice for finding a dress shirt that actually fits?

I don't have much money to spend (at all) but I'm tired of the Marshmallow Man look.

Try Macys they usually have a rack or two hidden that have some decent shirts 50-70% off.

The H&M slim-fit dress shirts have nice fits and are pretty cheap.

I'll have to give that a try next time I'm in Chicago. Sadly Kansas is an H&M-free zone.

Dillards at oak park mall in Overland Park sells a line of "Murano" shirts that are exactly what you describe. I almost always shop there right after christmas for 50-70 percent off. The Murano shirts i bought went for 12-16 bucks each and they are very nice quality. I'm pretty sure they're still around that price.

How "dressy" are you talking? Going out to a bar on a friday and wear at a biz casual job? or for under a suit?

i'm tall and skinny and found that diesel and ben sherman button downs fit me best but those might be too expensive and/or not dressy enough

I'm a thinner guy, esp now that I've dropped 25 lb in the past year (not a good thing). The best fitting shirts I have are all Hugo Boss which are made to be trim and more fitting than most.

Ben Sherman's are not made for slim people. Not that they're designed for the overweight or anything, but they're def not made to be a slim-fitting shirt.

They are skinny fit and would look bad on fat people.

Try TJ Max.

Okay. I like the Pronto Uomo shirts at Men's Wearhouse. Back from when I was skinny of course. They look bad now.

Alfani, which is one of Macy's many store brands - along with Taso Elba and Club Room - makes slim fit shirts (think they're called something different), and they're about $30 when not on sale.

The wear it to work with a tie kind of dressy.

Looks like a lot of different suggestions. I'll have to make a list of places to try.

Yeah, they are nice style and quality, but not slim. Also, not cheap.

This is true. I'm also relatively skinny (5-9 145lbs) and I really dig Geoffrey Beene shirts. They fit me well, look good and are usually on sale for between $20-$30. You can also find a lot of them usually in their clearance section as quoted above.

Definitely don't buy Ben Sherman. I can barely get away with it and I'm same weight as you and 3 inches shorter. I'd go with Hugo Boss if you ever want to spend more than $50 on a shirt (some are less).

Express Men's sells shirts that fit me best. I don't know exactly what slim fit means, but these shirts probably qualify. They're not billowy at the bottom, so you can just tuck them straight into your pants without having to untuck it a little or ending up with a million pleats where they're tucked. $25-40.

Van Heusen makes some pretty cheap, wrinkle free fitted dress shirts (~$25-$30). Most department store have them and they seem to be on sale a lot for about $20.

Just got back from Macy's. They have a Clairborn line of shirts that exactly what you're looking for. I think they're called "Modern Fit" for like 25 bucks.

Re: Affordable Slim Fit Dress Shirts

I'm a fan of the Jos. A Bank fitted dress shirt, which is wrinkle-free as well.

Example:
http://www.josbank.com/IWCatProductPage....oduct_Id=281494

They're listed at 2 for $110 but they go on sale for $30-$35 every now and then.

Re: Affordable Slim Fit Dress Shirts

I have yet to find anything wrinkle-free that lives up to it in shirts. I've seen some pants that come reasonably close.

What fabric is that made out of? I tried on an Express shirt once (I think it was the 1MX) and it was unbelievably stiff. It felt like I was wearing a fricking table cloth (and not one of those nice linen ones, I'm talking the piece of [censored] vinyl).

H&M and Zara for the win.
