I re-raised aggro button steal. Now What?

This guy was 20/16 and a reg. I had 14,000 hands on this guy. He might be 2+2. He constantly raised the button especially when they it was folded to him and was quite aggro on this table.

I felt there was a good chance he was on a steal and would fold, if he called then if I hit an A or T on a dry board then I would probably be good.

What do you do on the flop now he calls and we missed?

Bet about 17 or so.

Re: I re-raised aggro button steal. Now What?

I forgot to add that my image was pretty LAG. I had a hot streak of cards and over the first 20 hands I was 58/20/4 but after 50 hands I was 38/14/3.

Re: I re-raised aggro button steal. Now What?

pretty standard spot though i'd rather do it with a less trouble hand.

I typically bet out as he is folding a large part of his range on that flop providing you havent been too aggro.

I know it sounds spewy but c/r can often be good here, obviously not as standard but still good imo

make it tiny bit more pre($13.5) since oop.

Seems like a decent amount for a continuation bet. Let's talk about turn play if he flat-calls. Say a trey falls.. Dare we two-barrel for the rest of our stack? I'm leaning towards just shutting down, but can't help but ponder other possibilities to get this guy off 88 or 99.

If you don't want to cbet a really dry flop like this, than don't 3 bet him preflop in the first place.

just do whatever you would do with AA

Ok. Thats a fair point and thats what I did. When he called i wanted to puke and I guess he must have a hand. However he is a regular and my image was pretty damn loose so he could be trying to float me. Do we simply c/f or try to take the pot away on the turn?

Is this the first time you've 3-bet him light and c-bet the flop with air? How do you have 14k hands on the guy? It makes a big difference if this is datamined vs. you've played 14k hands with him.

The 14k hands are datamined. I haven't played much with him and I have no notes other than those in OP. I haven't 3-bet him light before but I have been raising alot and c-betting a lot. I have also folded to flop raises and floats as well.

I didn't really like any of my options. If I check I am pretty certain he is betting, regardless of his hand. If I bet then he could fold if he has nothing but I am not sure he is calling my PF 3-bet then my c-bet with air and there weren't any draws on the flop.

I just didn't like the spot at all and was a bit lost.

Bet $42.

Am I not then commiting myself to this pot with nothing but a gutshot?
What do I do if he shoves?
What do I do on the river if he flat calls?

If he raises me I'd fold, if he calls I'd c/f river. I might just open shove turn to maximize FE.

You realize he would only have 35 left after betting 42 right?

OP: Because it's FTP, I think the right play here is to insta-pot it (obv. call a shove getting 9:1). If I were villain and you do this, I would put you on AK a lot of the time and fold most of my range. Depending on your image though shoving might actually have more fold equity, and checking isn't bad either. This is a spot where I think most options are close, so in the long run it doesn't matter much what you do.

Re: I re-raised aggro button steal. Now What?

This is a good turn card for a shove. I like the insta-pot and obviously being committed for whatever little you've got left.

Re: I re-raised aggro button steal. Now What?

The turn K improves your range so I'd say its a decent card to bluff at. Probably just shove since I'd shove AA/KK/AK/JJ here.
