PARTY LAG + Reward
When I 12 table on party, after 200-300 hands it starts lagging like [censored]. All the tables become slower, and it gets really difficult to play after 1k hands or so.
I've tried restarting PA hud I've tried setting my monitors to 16 bit color I always set CPU usage for Partygaming.exe to Realtime (the highest possible) None of the above helps. The only thing I can do is to ctrl+alt+delete shut down the software, and then quickly restart it. The problem with this is that the tables won't arrange automatically. I would appreciate any help regarding this, and $50 will go to whoever helps me remove the lag. Thanks |
Re: PARTY LAG + Reward
Perhaps you're running low on memory? I had the same problem, the Party client kept slowly eating more and more RAM and when I only had about 100 MB free it started lagging. I have since added another gig and now everything works fine.

Re: PARTY LAG + Reward
Ive got 2 gigs, that should be enough right?

Re: PARTY LAG + Reward
Did you try turning off antialiasing?

Did you try turning off antialiasing? [/ QUOTE ] I think I have it turned off, not sure though. How do I check this? |
Re: PARTY LAG + Reward
Right click desktop>Properties>Appearance>Effects> uncheck the second box, "Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts".

Re: PARTY LAG + Reward
Yah, had already done that
Anything else I can do? |

Re: PARTY LAG + Reward
Over the past year, there have been lag issues that have affected Party and FTP. I've gone through 2 PCs in that time - one a 3 year old laptop, and the other a custom built AMD dualcore with 3 displays. I've never had a problem with lag while 8-12 tabling on Party or FTP, and the only difference between my setups and other peoples' is that I have always run Pokertracker on a seperate PC.
Do you run Pokertracker on the same PC as your poker client? Do you have a spare PC you can try this on? Instructions for using PAHUD, PostGRE, with Pokertracker on a different machine are available on the Pokertracker & PokerAce forums. I don't know if this will solve the problem, but so far it's the only reason i can think of as to why I've never run into this problem on multiple PCs, but so many others have. |
Re: PARTY LAG + Reward
Do you think upgrading to quadcore would solve these problems?

[/ QUOTE ] I've made mine alot better but it still seems to randomly chug after an hour or so sometimes. On top of the 16bit colour and the turning off of font-smoothing, I think restarting your PC before sessions seems to help reduce the chugs, but I've no real idea why. Re: PARTY LAG + Reward
I have found that when I 10-12 my system starts to slow down after a while. Things that have helped include deleteing/fixing any hand history files that haven't been moved due to errors, before starting any new session and also deleteing the temp files in PAHUD.
Im not quite sure which one does the trick but i just do both every time. The stupid thing is that even after doing this my system starts to lag to slowly lag after 1hr 12tabling and after 2hrs it becomes unbearable. I do think it has something to do with poker tracker cause it keeps the hh files in the party folder until the party client is closed, then it moves them over to your specified folder. After an hour or 2 it can be searching through 30 files each time. This sorta helps explain tappy tibbons poker tracker on another pc thing. And also sorta explains why juks restarts work. Hope this helps |
Re: PARTY LAG + Reward
Thx for input guys.
I really don't think it has anything to do with pokertracker though. The reason is, if I ctrl-alt-delete shut down the Party client and restart it, the lag disappears. It would be interesting to know what this shutdown does (if it clears the memory or something) and try to simulate it without having to restart Party. Thoughts? |
Re: PARTY LAG + Reward
This Poker Tracker forum thread might help. It talks about database defragmenting so that the queries won't take that long. http://www.pokertracker.com/forum/vi...45&start=0

i had un-playable LAG on party. Support told me to un-install party, delete your windows temp folder and then re-install. It worked for me

Re: PARTY LAG + Reward
disable auto rate players in PT HH import
|
Re: PARTY LAG + Reward
My lag isn't related to PT as I stopped using PT and PAHUD ages ago to try to reduce the CPU load.

Re: PARTY LAG + Reward
hi,
i dont know if this helpful and probably concerns only a few people, but thats what i discovered in my own case: i had lag on party and fulltilt(before the last upgrade) and experimented. i have a nvidia graphics card and installed nvidia software.within this software there is an application called nview-desktop manager, which i had enabled.after deactivating this desktopmanager all of a sudden all lag issues had disappeared.i can autorate when importing into pokertracker, can use ace-hud and never had a problem again since then. i also have,as suggested, activated favorites in the game panel and only view the levels i play in the partypoker lobby. hope this might help at least a few users asteroid |
Re: PARTY LAG + Reward
The partypoker software just sux, when I 12 table pokerstars with pokertracker etc. there's no lag at all.
Does anyone know if upgrading my processor from dual core to quad core would help to fix the partypoker lag? Or wouldnt it have any effect |

I was 12 tabling fine on a single core AMD 3400 and had no lag, while at least one person with a quad core was reporting lag issues. My hunch is that it's a conflict with Party and some other popular piece of software, or a popular driver. One thing that might help is creating a dual boot system, and on the second OS, only install the absolute essentials for online poker. This would eliminate most software conflicts as a possibility. |
Re: PARTY LAG + Reward
Are u using table mods ? Did u try to remove and reinstall the party client w/o the mods ?

IIRC, I luckily turned ON this NVIDIA multi-desktop thing and then noticed the terrible lag and then quickly turned it off again, but I'm beginning to wonder if it might still have left some setting which is causing the current lag (I don't remember getting any lag before I turned this on/off...). Does anybody else experiencing the lag have a NVIDIA card? Also, I wonder if UltraMon could be causing similar problems... Juk |
Re: PARTY LAG + Reward
I use nvidia and is no problem playing 12 tables. Also I doubt quad core would do anything as the drivers for it suck currently.
To help you find differences in our setups mine is : 6420 Intel Dual Core 2GB Corsair Value RAM 8800GTS 320MB Graphics (in case I'm tilting and want to go pwn some noobs at Call of Duty 2) Windows XP Pro 24" Dell Ultrasharp Monitor 320 GB Sata 2 HDD I have nothing else on this computer apart from my poker stuff. |

[/ QUOTE ] I recently reinstalled my NVIDIA drivers and also deleted my Internet cache as another poster suggested and all seems to be running well so far (even in 32bit colour now). Not 100% sure if it was either that fixed it, as Party did do an update a while back. I haven't played much poker this month and it could simply be the update that fixed it.
