Why does Steve Carell keep getting cast in movies?
 

Has this man ever uttered a funny word in his life? Seriously... I don't get it.

Then again, I don't get all the love for Will "I play the same annoying retard in every movie" Farell either, so I must be missing something. Perhaps our society is just getting dumber by the day.

Well since Evan Almighty brought this thread to mind, I'll start by saying I've always thought Jim Carey was hilarious.

Other people I find funny... hmmm... pretty much any cast member from the early 90s SNL (Mike Meyers, Dana Carvey, Adam Sandler), the supporting guys on Seinfeld, Bill Murray, Dave Chapelle, I could go on for a while.

But back to what's important! Established comedians that I DON'T find funny at all. Ben Stiller. Vince Vaun (sp?). EVERYONE on Mad TV and the last decade of SNL.

I know he does a lot of gay romance crap and pretty much sucks now, but he was genuinely funny back on SNL and in his first few movies. You laughed at Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison same as I did...

40-year old virgin was awesome. Did you actually see it or just decide based on the title it was going to be silly? The only people I know that dislike it are women and even 90%+ enjoy it.

Bah, you're both right. I can't really argue either one of those points. I wish I could get to the root of why I don't find the recent hit comedies I mentioned funny, but it's hard to put into words I guess. Just nothing about them made me laugh even a little. Adam Sandler may play the same retard in every movie, but he makes me laugh and Will Farell doesn't. I spose I'll just have to leave it at that for lack of better explanation.

Oh I saw it. It was disturbingly unfunny to me given how much everyone I knew loved it. Never saw the office so I can't comment.
