Most read poker book at Barnes and Nobles
So I was stuck with wife at the mall (KOP) and I killed some time in the bookstore. Of course I headed over to the poker section...
There is a wide range of book from all publishers, etc. Pretty much all of them look like they are new except for one book. This one book is so worn and creased (binding) you could almost imagine it has been opened and leafed through about 100 times. Guess which book it is. |
Re: Most read poker book at Barnes and Nobles
I love trivia. Can you give us a hint? Is it a non-strategy or strategy book?

Re: Most read poker book at Barnes and Nobles
Super/System I/II are always the most worn at my B&N, but that could be due to the size and way its stacked on the shelf.

Re: Most read poker book at Barnes and Nobles
My guess would be Caro's Book of Tells.
|
Re: Most read poker book at Barnes and Nobles
NLTAP
but that is due to the binding it's like that in every bookstore I frequent |

Nigel Goldman's 'Make a million from online poker'.
Hope not as only books worse in my collection are 'Online Ace' and Doyle's online poker book. I really wish I had researched these books before buying them. I was new to the game though. Can't believe they are still on my shelf and not in a charity shop selling for 50c (which is still too much IMO). |
Re: Most read poker book at Barnes and Nobles
It was Harrington on Holdem II. All six copies of it. Each one has only been opened one time, but that was all it took to trash the spine.

Good guesses. However the answer seems obvious once you know it. Think what type of (nitty) consumer would heavily read something without buying the damn book!

Poker for Dummies is actually pretty good.

Poker For Dummies? [/ QUOTE ] A friend knew I played poker, and that I didn't have a lot of money to buy books. (Hey, that's what interlibrary loan is for, and I'm not rich playing micorlimits quite yet). She found Poker for Dummies at a bargain bookstore, and it was actually quite good. There is some junk in there (best players of all time, etc.), but much of it is very worthwhile for beginners. They cover basic strategy pretty well. Other good areas are Money Management and Recordkeeping, Poker Tells, Game Selection, Position, and Starting Hands. The authors also stress the importance of continual studying and learning, and among their author reccomendations are Sklansky, Harrington, and Caro. twoplustwo.com is mentioned as well. I would have no problem giving a beginner this book. For someone who was starting at a very basic level, Poker for Dummies, followed by Theory of Poker, might not be a bad combination. |

I could see that. I never really thought about it, but what a great title to take advantage of the poker boom and the casual player/shopper.

[ QUOTE ] Small Stakes Hold'em [/ QUOTE ] We have a winner! [/ QUOTE ] Same answer as HOH. The spine is just bad. It doesn't represent how many people have read it at all (except that at least one has.) |

Re: Most read poker book at Barnes and Nobles
After cracking the spine of a couple 2+2 books, I am very careful about how I open them. Especially when they are new. Once you've broken them in they are a bit more durable, I love the paper, but I wish the spines were a bit tougher.
