You can live the dream and earn a seat in the World Series of Poker’s $10,000 Main Event if you win the River of Dreams Poker Tournament at Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino.

Your $250 entry fee includes:

Two nights accommodations at Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, July 1 and 2, 2007
One entry into the River of Dreams Poker Tournament

So far I'm still trying to find out when (what day) exactly it is, the 1st or the 2nd, and just how many seats they are awarding in this event.

I've booked this, just because it gives me an excuse to go back and play live NL in the WSOP area (gotta love that 2/5 NL), making the satellite basically a freeroll.

There's really no info about this 'River of Dreams' satellite on their website. I've sent in a request for more info to the Harrahs customer service department, but who knows when/what I'll hear back.

They are trying to get bodies in there the few days before the 4th of July is my guess.

Since most times a spouse or loved one comes with that is NOT into poker, I suspect it's a ploy to get those out on the floor playing the slots.

Found out from a friend that it looks like that the actual tourney will be held on July 2nd, but not sure of the time.

Still trying to find out how many seats will be awarded for this.

I will ask them when they return my voice mail message to answer my other questions. I will say this though, if you booked it for 4 nights, July 1st through July 5th, the total package is just under 400 bucks then (with the extra two nights that is). That's less than 100 bucks a night which is way cheaper than they normally charge at the Rio, so it's still a pretty good deal if you ask me.

Right now it's leaning towards the 'LOL' as they've not called me back, and getting a live body to answer the phone is impossible.

Okay, finally got through to a live human.

1) When will it be?

July 2nd, exact time yet to be decided

2) How many seats are being given away.

Right now, only one, but depending on how big the response is, they might pay up to 10 places (no answer yet on what those other places (IE: Money or what) if they have them, will be).

If the response is big enough, maybe more than one seat, but not for sure on that one yet.

3) Can you sell your seat if say you win a satallite into the ME the night before?

They had not thought of this one, and I was told that now that this question has been raised, they will look into that aspect of perhaps if you won your seat via a satallite in the 48 hrs before the river of dreams event, where you MIGHT get cash, but they still have to check into that aspect of it.

I also asked if we were going to be stuck out in the tourture chamber (aka the tent) or not. I also mentioned the ongoing discussion here of the problems there (which the planner didn't know about). She agreed with me the last thing she needs is unhappy guests, so she will make sure where ever we are placed (she doesn't know yet), it will be someplace confortable, perhaps even in the regular Rio poker room (since it's not currently being used) is one option she mentioned.

Personally I think it's a great deal, even without the tournament, because you can also get 2 more nites (July 3rd and 4th) for only $60 each extra night, bringing the total with tax, around $390.

that makes the room for 4 nights less than $100 a night, to stay at the Rio.

I can't see what difference it make how many people enter. The prize pool is still zero. I would be shocked and amazed if they gave away anything more than one seat.

The event is likely only for people taking the deal. If you want to do it, you can always cancel your existing reservation and rebook.

Also, I thought Harrah's wasn't giving lammers out for any tournaments anymore and they were simply registering satellite winners at the table?

I would suggest you call the Rio at 702-777-7777 and ask the operator to transfer you to speak to a HUMAN in the Promotion's department and explain the situation. If you get a recording, zero out, and tell them you need to speak to a human (otherwise you'll never get a call back). The name of the package is "The River of Dreams" package.

Maybe they will upgrade you to the package for those days of your stay.

If you are a say a diamond player, I'd call that number and ask to speak instead for the Casino host and see if they can get you into that package/tournament, perhaps even as a comp or something (since diamond players get lots of extras for their being diamond players).

From what I've seen, the smaller satellites are paying in lamers, but the ones that are intended for ME buyin (and HORSE I think) are just registration (non-transferable).

The rooms listed are the same rooms shown when I booked, so I wonder if they capped it. Perhaps once they started getting questioned about the tourny structure and such, they realized that unless they had 1000+ folks signing up, that it was going to cost them too much.

From the responses that Cincy got, it sounds like the whole things was half-baked to begin with.

Anyway, I'm booked at the package rate, so we'll see if it sticks or if I get 'stuck'...

Harrah's not taking reservations anymore would be the absolute worst for them. Now that people have booked rooms, they owe them a freeroll. If only 10 people booked, Harrah's is going to take a bath on that one. Its more likely they're full.

I think what Iron is trying to say is that they had a set number of packages (a max number) and remember several people got this in their e-mail over the weekend as well.

These packages that the Rio run do as a whole tend to sell out fast anyway.

It was open this morning, but it might of sold out sometime today for that particular package. (in fact if you scroll down on the availablity calander, you'll see that it tells you that the 'room type' (aka the package) is sold out)

The nice part about this, is that I suspect the field will be small, which is a good thing! [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

Yeah, I posted that info earlier in the thread, on page 2 I think, along with other answers to questions I had.

In any case, they don't have a time yet for the event, but it will be held on Monday, July 2nd.

Okay, I just heard from them, and got more information.

1) This tournament is only open to Harrah's Rewards members, so if you don't have a Harrah's Rewards card, you need to stop at the Rewards desk at the Rio before you register for the event to get a Harrah's Rewards card.

2) Registration will be held on Sunday July 1st, between 4 and 8pm local time. The Event itself will start on Monday July 2nd, at 11 am local time.

3) Number Seats awarded. 1 seat for every 200 players in the event (note, the person I spoke with said they are getting a huge response to the package (gee, I wonder why [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img] ), is the reason why they are expanding the prizes).

Best part guys ... if you win ... you can take the WSOP ME seat or ... they are offering Cash option too! [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

Sweet, so glad that they extended this package. My birthday is July 2nd, so hoping for some luck from that.

The only thing that sucks is that I will be going to a wedding June 30 and then have to drive 10 hours on July 1st and get there before 8 to register for the tourney, should be interesting.

Unless you're actually registered for a scheduled WSOP event, the price of the room is (normally) somewhere north of 200 bucks a night at the Rio.

200 bucks time 4 nights = $800 normal room rate without package.

With package 4 nights = $391 bucks.

$800 minus $391 = $409 saved, plus a chance to win either a WSOP ME seat or take the cash option.

Sounds like a really sweet deal, if you ask me.

Use caution on the Chop aspect, because while the lady I spoke with told me verbally over the phone, that there would be a cash option to the WSOP ME Seat(s) for the winner(s), I never thought to ask if chops would be allowed or not.

This as some events I've played in at Harrah's properties won't allow for the chop, so be aware of that.

I'm doing the same thing driving down from Denver (and while I've not done it before, I hear it's about a 10 hr drive), but I'll be driving down on Friday, June 29th and staying elsewhere the first few nights.
