Trips vs a TAG w/ 180 BB\'s Stars 100NL I go call/call/call?
 

Villain is 18/12/2ish over 150 hands. I'm running at 34/24/4. These are pokeroffice numbers so I think the first number is flops seen not VPIP.

Villain seems nittish and has only shown down good hands but has been 3 betting my opens more than anyone else at the table. I haven't shown down any real crap but I've got an aggressive image and with him two to my left in this 6max game and his nitty image he's had his blinds ganked a ton.

About 30 hands ago I opened ATs in the CO for $3 and he made it $10 from the BB. I'd folded the last two to him so I took a flop here and we got it AI on a A64 board that gave me a combo and him TPTK. He led for just under pot on that flop.

On to the hand. He's 3 bet me a couple more times since then but I'm still not sure at this point if he's a nit getting cards or is astute enough to realize I'm opening light.

I open for $3 in the CO with 9Ts. He makes it $10 in the SB. 180BB's deep I lick my lips and call.

He's first to act and bet 12 into 21. I think for a little bit and call for lots of reasons.

He bets $38 into $45 without much of a delay. I again think for a bit and call.


River is a meaningless rag. Again lacking much of a delay, villain now fires AI, basically a PSB.

I call here because villain could be doing this as a bluff putting you an A with KQhh or w/e or he could have AK and hope you snap him off with a weaker A.

Edit: Bad nits overplay TPTK, you do know that. He might think that you'd have raised the turn with a T, think you have a a worse ace and be greedy.

I doubt he bets the flop weakish with Ax, and then when another T comes, he suddenly starts firing PSBs. He also never bluffs here, like this, with hearts. So I'm pretty confident you're dead.

The river could be a CATerp type move, but I doubt it given prior streets.

Seriously thouogh, from his perspective you can easily have AQ/AJ(since he's been 3-betting frequently), and he can easily have AK here like everyone said. I'd be so happy to call this river. Nice hand sir.

Couldn't fathom his turn bet size with a boat nor why he wouldn't check to me on the river as I've obv missed my draw.



I know this will all sounds results oriented as hell but here I go anyways.


I shoulda folded. You and I both know there are types of players who simply cannot have anything but a boat here. Shoving AK for value would blow their minds. Firing two barrels, let alone three with something like KQh here would be next to impossible for them.


I probably should have given more info on my reads and what not, and I don't expect anyone to understand short of being there or unless I post every hand I have on him. I most definitely should have included that he definitely thought for awhile on the first hand(I open ATsss in CO to 3, he 3b to 10 in SB, I call, flop combo, get AI versus AKcc). Hand felt meh to me but really didn't see a different line as we weren't deep. I shoved over his flop open and he thought for a decent interval before calling.

I probably shouldn't have referred to him as TAG in the post title. His stats were Taggish but he was your generic stars player. Pretty good at cards but pretty bad at poker.

I really think he was considering folding when calling is almost always correct and instacalling is mandatory the way I was playing. Strong piece of evidence IMO.


If he qualifies, the simple fact is when a player like this reraises OOP pre 180BB's deep and fires three times putting all his money in on the last street, you will never ever ever be shown anything but a house on this board.

I don't care if you are the biggest donkey in the universe or Jeff effing Madsen, after this action the only mystery remaining is whether his aces are both black or not.
