Bot warning on PokerStars

I encountered a bot heads-up, SN "amadorpoker" (in PLO)

It's an extremely bad bot, albeit a very annoying one, since he needs the maximum time for every move. So don't play him unless you enjoy playing for hours

Post HH?

In theory wouldn't it be a lot harder to build a HU PLO bot than a NL bot?

Re: Bot warning on PokerStars

Dunno.

I never ever played anyone who'd take EXACTLY the maximum allowed time for every move, who doesn't react at all to my steaming in the chat box...etc

I can post a HH but it's not spectacular. He folds to any minbet on the flop. If he hits hard, he'll let you know.

I've played too many people that do that. I've also played nuts who have bet consistently OOP fast enough to where I can't even comprehend the flop and it's my turn to act to his bet.

I doubt they are bots, it is probably very very tough to make money programming a winning bot in the low limit HU SNGs. At least as far as NL and PLO are concerned. It is also not very profitable at the lower stakes for the risk involved.

The one positive to building a HUSNG bot is that you very rarely play the same people multiple times at the lower levels and a bot's biggest weakness usually is repetitive leaks that once found can be exploited moreso than with a regular player.

It's not a winning bot, it's a losing one. I guess it's an experimental bot to gain some experience or maybe statistical data.

I doubt any human could play this predictable, always take the maximum time, not ONCE playing a little faster.

He obv does a simple flop analysis, checking if he has a flush draw etc (doesn't matter if it's a low flush, he'll call lol) and call/bet based on the current strength of his hand. As mentioned very easy to beat by betting most flops and being careful if he calls.

Just because he takes the maximum amount of time before acting, doesn't make him a bot. At higher limits, players often like to take the same amount of time on any decision, even on easy decisions, so as to not give any information away, i.e. if I take longer in this spot I have a marginal hand... please raise me so I can fold, etc.

I admit, taking the max amount of time is annoying, but it doesn't necessarily guarantee he's a bot. At low limits it is somewhat suspect though, as the players aren't normally that sophisticated to where you need to worry about your timing tells.

ROFL... Try playing from somewhere like Afganastan sharing bandwith with 100 people on an army base and see if your taking the max time on EVERY hand. That does not mean your playing a bot so far 90 % of the whino's on this forum whining about bots suck at poker.

Look at gatorade all the nonsense he's stiring up. And quite frankly if you say it's a bad bot and it's beatable just beat it take all the money you can and try to go find another crappy bot to play. It seems like easy money but I think your just mad at your results against players you can't beat.

Gildwulf verified Full Tilt's evidence that showed that beatme1 was a bot so Mr Gatorade was correct. For the OP its probably unlikely that the person you played is a bot.

Yeah, seems that MrGatorade knows damn well what's he doing.
And seems that OP has to fight back: GotQuads, the next time you play against ...ahem 'bot' do the same - whenever it's your move take max time before doing, see if you can tilt him a little.

Hey govman, do you speak from experience? I'm just wondering how you're able to play poker over there on a gov computer. Please let me know, as I'll be going to afghanistan later on this year. If I can play while over there, that will severely reduce my boredom

My results are decent, and of course I beat such players, in fact even much stronger players. I wasn't mad about my lack of skills, but I was mad about waiting forever every single hand.

When I went on deployment to Iraq I was able to play poker in a restricted country like UAE (Dubai) and Bahrain which both governments restrict content. I love my satalite irridium phone which allows me to bypass government proxies. And yes I myself have taken almost max time because of lag/bandwidth/firewall/router issues. My guess would be he was not using a bot either as what your describing is not how you tell in the first place. =) I HATE BOTS!

I hate people who take max time. There should be a separate section for max timers with bad connections so you can play each other while getting in 5 hands per level.

I think the only form of tilt that ever shows hints in my game is the slow ass players taking a year and a half for every decision.

It's also tough to get into gameflow type decisions and to subconsciously analyze your frequencies.

Re: Bot warning on PokerStars

+1 on the extreme slow people tilting you.

Building a PLO bot would be easier than a NL one I think. All it needs to do is call with any decent draw then bet if it hits, bet anytime it has the nuts and a few other things and it could beat most players.

I have a friend who used to play a ton of the lowest stud HU games on stars and he swore this one regular was a bot, and after looking, I kind of believe him. The guy was on like 12 hours a day and occasionally has a second name (that's very close to the first, obv the same person, same location) who will play a second session right afterwards. It's actually probably a pretty good racket, if you made a bot that beats LLHU and just take 10 bucks off people at a time you probably get away with it pretty easily.
