Need some rock music recommendations

I need some new stuff to listen to. I listen to classic rock and some of my favorite bands are Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, The Doors, Eric Clapton, Queen, AC/DC, The Beatles. I've listened to most of Pink Floyd's and Led Zeppelin's stuff and mostly just hit songs from the others. What are some good albums by the bands in this post and any other ones you think I might like?

not sure if by eric clapton you mean all of clapton's work, but if not, check out cream and derek and the dominoes,

rolling stones, the who, jefferson airplane, the kinks, jethro tull, grateful dead, aerosmith, blood sweat tears, crosby stills nash young, neil young, creedence clearwater revival, guess who

lemme know if you need more or specific albums. Most of these bands you can probably get by with just greatest hits albums.

If you want good albums of bands in the post, I'd recommend...(note all of these are in order of preference):

floyd: dark side (obviously), piper at the gates of dawn, wish you were here, the wall, animals

zeppelin: IV, II, I, III, houses of holy, physical graffiti

jimi: are you experienced, axis: bold as love (but overall just recommend a hits album)

clapton (assuming all encompassing): I'd get cream of clapton b/c it has stuff from his whole career (cream, solo, derek dominoes, etc)

queen: just get the hits again

acdc: back in black, highway to hell, dirty deeds

beatles: sgt peppers, revolver, white album, help, a hard day's night, let it be, abbey road, magical mystery tour, rubber soul, with the beatles, please please me, beatles for sale. You really need every album they've done.

Re: Need some rock music recommendations

Btw, out of all of those I recommended you should pick up "The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society" first. That might be the one album I listen to the most.

I was going to say "Nice selections" until I realized the original poster asked for these groups specifically. Still, these are good choices.

For The Guess Who, just get The Greatest of the Guess Who or The Guess WHo, 20 Original Hits. Also, since you're picking up Guess Who albums, the next obvious step is Bachman-Turner Overdrive, for which I recommend the Millenium Series Best Of compilation.

Also, you'd be insane to skip The Lovin' Spoonful, The Grass Roots, The Traveling Wilburys and The Hollies.

Queen II is the bollocks

The Kinks - what's above plus Lola and Arthur are both brilliant

Aerosmith is my favorite band - All albums thru Draw The Line are amazing

AC/DC - Everything pretty much through For Those About To Rock. Gets a bit messy after that.

Thin Lizzy - Good call! The Live album Live and Dangerous is well known

Van Halen I and Fair Warning

Cheap Trick - Live At Budokan

The Cult - Get a greatest hits

Deep Purple - Burn, In Rock, etc.

Kiss - Alive!

Montrose - s/t

The Pretenders - I and II

The Police - All

If you really like music I'd just get the Talking Heads DVD Stop Making Sense. Probably one of the greatest bands in all of of pop music.

Metallica - Kill 'Em All (one of the greatest rock albums ever IMO)

...and if you really are serious about rocking out, just skip everything and go straight to Slayer's Reign in Blood and you will never be the same again.

Keller Williams (not for everyone, but a good guitarist in a folksy/bluegrass sort of way, funny lyrics)

moe. a jam band with talent

Keb' Mo - blues entertainer

Re: Need some rock music recommendations

Everyone seems to be giving classical stuff so I'm gonna go more modern.

Muse - Great 3 man band from europe. Mixes guitar, keyboard, drums. They are, in my opinion, the best band out right now, and top 5 for me all time.

The Strokes - I'm not a huge fan of them, but they seem to match with your likes. Check out "Is this it" http://www.amazon.com/This-Strokes/dp/B00005QIPH

Wolfmother - They sound alot like Zeppelin, and are good.

Sex Sleep Eat Drink Dream is good, too, although much newer.

Also, the greatest concert and album of all time in my opinion is The Band's The Last Waltz. It's got a bunch of incredible rock music, although a lot of it falls under Rockabilly, Blues, R&B, Folk and so on. Still, The Band + Van Morrison + Neil Diamond + Bob Dylan + The Paul Butterfield Blues Band + Eric Clapton + Muddy Waters + Neil Young + The Staples Singers + Joni Mitchell + Dr. John + Emmylou Harris + Ronnie Hawkins = Gotdamn that's some good music!

I think you might like Government Mule. It is Warren Haynes' (Allman Brothers, The Dead) side project. Other members include Andy Hess (The Black Crows, Joan Osborne, John Scofield) Danny Louis (Joe Cocker) and Matt Abts (Dickey Betts Band)

They play music much like many of the bands you listed. The only difference is that the Mule is in its prime and at musically at the top of their game. If you have a chance to see a live show don't miss it, Warren is one of (if not the) best live guitarist playing today.

Sco-Mule
Lola Leave Your Light On
Mississippi Queen (old 1999) if you only look at one this it, listen for the sick Cream tease about 4:45 in
