Summertime Rolls...June LIMIT LC Thread
Fell into
A sea of grass And disappeared among The shady blades... Children all Ran over me Screaming tag! You are the one! He trips her as Her sandals fail She says stop! I'm a girl... Whose fingernails are made Of mother's pearl... Yellow buttercup Helicopters Orange buttercat Chasing after The crazy bee Mad about somebody... Me and my girlfriend Don't wear no shoes Her nose is painted pepper Sunlight... She loves me I mean it's serious As serious can be... She sings a song and I listen to what it says: If you want a friend Feed any animal... There was so much space I cut me a piece With some fine wine It brought peace to my mind In the summertime... And it rolled Summer.... oh... Oh.... the summertime rolls June 21st: First day of summer. Any big plans? |

Re: Summertime Rolls...June LC Thread
btw, i will get a digest done this month at some point. it will span the last couple months. i've been nasty-busy at work as of late. in April we started an OTR trucking company and that, combined with my regular responsibilities is keeping me swamped. ugh.

Re: Summertime Rolls...June LC Thread
Ok, so sunday afternoon, I find myself in the Mirage, and I wasn't planning on playing poker, but my wife was along, and she decided to play blackjack, so unless I was going to watch blackjack for several hours, I guess I had to go find a game in the poker room, so I go find a cash machine, ($4 fee for a transaction) man, its not like the aren't going to get to rake my money again in the near future. But the alternative is to watch my wife play blackjack, so ....
Anyway, I get a seat in the 10-20 game, and post in the CO, someone raises, someone else threebets, and I fold, and the hand is headsup, and doesn't go to a showdown. The next hand, it is folded to me, and I think that this might be a tight game, so I openraise with 76 sooted. My plan as always works perfectly, as the CO, button, and both blinds call. Flop AQ6 rainbow. Checked to me, and I think 'noone threebet me, maybe none of them has an ace', so I bet. This goes a little better, because the button and CO fold, but the blinds both call. Turn K. A little thought, and I estimate that I am in third place out of the remaining players. It goes check, check, and I check. River 7! Hmmmm, I might not be in third place anymore. SB checks, BB bets, I call, and the SB folds. BB has a naked Ace, so my two pair is good. She looks a long time at my hand, and then says something about trying to steal her blinds with 76. Oh well. Now the hand wouldn't be any fun, unless there was an aftermath. So here goes. A bunch of players limp, and I check in the BB with Q4off. (too passive ?) So the flop is Q97 twotone, with spades, and I don't have any. I check, because, next two players check also, and the villian from the previous hand, (Ok so maybe I was the villian) so the villians opponent from the previous hand bets, folded back to me, and I think about checkraising, but decide against it, and just call, and the rest fold. Headsup to the turn. Another Queen hits the board, but I really don't know if that helps me or hurts me, so I check, and my opponent bets. River, some inconsequential card ( it wasn't a four), and I check/call one more time. My opponent of course has an ace high spade draw, and complains about me calling a raise preflop with Q4o. I didn't but it doesn't really matter to me, because I don't want them to think about whether or not I am as bad as they think I am. Anyway, the rest of the table argues about it for a while, and decides that I didn't call a raise, so someone apologizes to me for saying that I did. I am thinking whatever, I don't care as long as the dealer pushes me chips. I don't get to play anymore hands with this opponent, because she picks her chips up and leaves, because we all play so bad. So, we have another series of plays, what I think is a reasonable local player sits on my left, and open raises, and it gets folded to me in the BB, I have K9 off, and call. The flop is Q9x, and I check call all three streets, and he has AK, and says, nice hand. Then he and the guy next to him start talking about whether or not it was a nice hand, and my opponent says, he got pushed the chips, it was a nice hand. A little later, it gets folded to me in the SB, and I make a chopping motion, and he says that he doesn't chop, so I look at my cards, and raise. I actually have K2 sooted. The flop is king high, and I bet, he calls. The turn is an Ace, and I like my hand, because he didn't reraise preflop, so I bet, and he folds. He mumbles something about maybe he should chop. A while later, it is folded to me in the SB again, and I have AK, so I raise, and he calls. Flop AKx. I bet, he raises, and I call. Turn, T, I check, he bets, I raise, and he folds, and says Nice hand' again. When he is on the button, (why are you on the button, but in the blinds) he open raises, and eventually wins the hand. The BB complains about his raise, and he says, something about raising in position, and then says, unlike him (me) who keeps raising out of position, and beating me. He says something about the hundred dollars, I won by raising out of position, and that he is 0 for 2 with position against me. ( I didn't remind him about the K9 hand) Ok, so my wife runs out of money, and wants some, but I have wisely put all the money in my pocket into the game, so I can't give her any to go play blackjack ( a manuever that you single guys might remebmer for the future). So we are going to leave within a lap or two. Anyway, it gets folded to me in the SB, I look at rag-rag, unsuited, and decide that I don't want to play. I flick my redchip over to the player in the BB, and he says ' I suppose you think that makes up for the $100 that you won from me?' I tell him that he is now up to 1-2 in blind battles with me. Anyway, a fun session. |

So, in 1987....
Started discussing this at work tonight.
In 1987, you get bonked on the head, and you are in a coma until today. You wake up with all your faculties. What do you find most amazing? Most dissapointing? |
Re: So, in 1987....
My god, what is this...
Earlier I had K9, flop two-pair, turn 2, river 2. K2 wins with boat. I get QJ, flop K9T for the straight. Turn is a 9. River is a 9. He shows 97 for runner quads. So I get TT, flop is 448. Turn 9. River 9. 96o wins with runner boat. Is this what they meant with a new software update? :P "All your 95%+ are belong to us?" ... |

[/ QUOTE ] probably the whole cell phone, wireless technology integration thing and the associated affordability of such items. ooh, edit for: the most dissappointing is that cars still drive on the ground. no Back to the Future style automobiles. |

Re: So, in 1987....
Ok, most amazing, I thought that there were a lot of candidates.
In 1987, I think I had a computer(allthe computer that I would ever need) that had 1.2 meg ram. I'm not sure that that would even run today. The cell phone technology is amazing, picture phones, MP3 phones, how cheap, and how much capability they have. Finally, on a daily basis, the volume of stuff that i can cram into my IPOD is pretty amazing also. I think its only been about 5 or 6 years, since MP3 players first hit the market. Maybe most dissapointing, Our cars pretty much run the same, as they did back then. I also remeber back in the 60s and 70s, how bad we were treating the environment, and it seemed that we had solved a lot of those problems, and now we are faced with global warming, and it doesn't seem like we are going to be able to solve that. Finally, the cubs still suck.. |
My friend\'s problem.
My friend's wife has been kind of flaky lately, and she is currently about 6 months pregnant, he thought that it just might be hormone imbalances, but after a while, he started to think that there might be more to it.
So he sits down with her, and says we got to have a talk. 'What's going on?' Anyway, she tells him that she is worried, because her mother went to a psychic, and the psychic told her mother that her son-in-law was having an affair. My friend says, 'well, that isn't the case, but I have one more question.' 'Did the psychic tell your mother, that she was going to be murdered?' 'No.' 'Well, she isn't a very good psychic then, is she? ' |

Re: So, in 1987....
I was treated to the (I believe) quite rare triple donk today. I don't remember ever seeing this before but maybe it happens more than I think.
I'm in MP and have AdKd Everyone folds to me, I raise, all fold to kinda goofy guy in BB who calls. Flop: Kh 7h 3d BB donks, I raise, BB calls. Turn: 2d BB donks again, I raise again, BB calls again. River: As BB donks yet again, I raise yet again, BB calls yet again, and MHIG. |
Re: Summertime Rolls...June LC Thread
I'm 1/5th a Minbet Millionaire
Brag: I've made 200K USD from poker. Beat: Took me well over 2 years. Variance: I'm still not very good at poker. All of it from limit cash games. No higher than 10/20. Most of it full-ring. A lot of multi-tabling obviously. This mark had been a bit of a serious goal for me. And now I am there. My best 4 hour session ever of 2K took me home. I'm thinking of writing a BBV post (complete with graphz yo) about the journey. If I'm still over the mark when I've written it, I might post it. |

1 the increasing autrocities perpatrated by sexual predators against small children [/ QUOTE ] I don't know if this is accurate, but I actually think that the number of atrocities of this sort is decreasing. I think the reporting of these atrocities is increasing, so we have the perception that there are more. [ QUOTE ] 3 no end to war [/ QUOTE ] Actually, there are fewer wars occuring today, than there were twenty years ago. It is just that we (the US) are more involved than we were at any time since vietnam. I think that the world as a whole is going in the right direction now. [ QUOTE ] 2 terrorism [/ QUOTE ] I agree that this is a much bigger concern than it was twenty years ago. [ QUOTE ] i think these things are are higher up on the dissapointing tree than GLOBAL WARMING [/ QUOTE ] This really scares me more than the others, because it potentially has devastating effects for everyone, it potentially effects more people and more of the world than war or terrorism probably will. But it certainly is worth discussing which is a more pressing problem. I can't remeber where I read it, but I remember reading someone saying that the things that effect you most, are the problems that are important, and not urgent. I think that Global Warming is bigger on that scale than the others, which are more urgent, but might not be as important longterm. |

Anyone totally misread their hand once and a while?
This weekend I think I have Q8o in BB, I check preflop, then checkraise AQ8 flop, lead blank turn, and then lead/3bet a river 8. Then I proudly turn over my losing Q9. Wow, and the table thought I was aggressive before... Gcreativelypissingaway55BBinonesessionG |

Please, the world is not so bad today. It used to be normal that whole villages were exterminated, plundered and burned. None of that happens much anymore, in most places.
|
Re: So, in 1987....
70's- cambodia, approx. 2 million people exterminated
80's&90's-serbia, kosovo, northern iraq(kurdistan), hundreds of thousands of people exteminated 2000's-darfur, hundreds of thousands of people BEING exterminated. its called genocide and it go on......... |
Re: So, in 1987....
I think that in the 70s, we also had about a half dozen wars/genocides occurring in Africa.
Another thing that I think might be thrown into the argument as dissapointing, is that in the 80s, the US had the best level of education as a country, and I think that now, we are about 20th. |
Re: So, in 1987....
i recently saw the list of top cities in the world to live in... Europe and Canada killed the whole list...there were no US cities in like the top 20 or 30...
