I'm watching HU Poker and Phil Gordon just slammed Helmuth:

"I did something like 42 episodes of Celebrity Poker and then they brought Helmuth in; After he took over, the ratings dropped like 80% and the show was cancelled."

Zing! That'll probably bruise Helmuth's fragile ego a bit.

Listen to or read gordons little green book. He takes shots at helmuth there as well. One of the only poker books on cd. Nice while traveling. A very good beginners book.

Isn't Phil Gordon very rich from his pre-poker days of working in the software industry or something? I'm pretty sure he is financially much better off than Helmuth.

i doubt any of the rating fall had anything to do with hellmuth.

gordon does not seem to be loved among the elite tourney guys. i think he is a bit arrogant and the other players probably just see him as a rich dude who is not as good at poker as he thinks.

lol. I think Hellmuth is more like 6'7" 257 and Gordon 6'9" 244. But anyway...yeah I don't think ratings plummet had anything to do with Hellmuth. Why would anyone ever watch anything poker-related with Gordon before they would with Hellmuth? (except for maybe little old ladies crocheting).

pretty sure celeb poker ratings dropped for the same reasons ratings for poker on TV everywhere dropped

I believe both realize there's only enough room in the poker world for one of them, and this is why they butt heads. Gordon is prone to attack Phil(Hellmuth) more often because Phil was already an established figure in the poker world when Gordon was just entering the scene. Hellmuth has pretty much owned the title of tall, awkward, goofy looking, douches that play poker named Phil, and Gordon is now desperately trying to stake his claim to that title.

If Phil Gordon sold his company for $100m or whatever, Hellmuth wouldn't be too far off in a few years - of course we're not talking poker income but iirc his net worth was in the $50m-$70m range ;o

Phil Gordon sucks at poker and is someone I have no problem disliking

JESUS.....he only owned 50% of that company, and im sure he didnt get all of that 47.5 mil. plus he traveled an spends so much that i would be willing to bet my entire roll Of $350 bucks that he is less than 20 mil liquid & in investments. Helmuth However is a money Whore that will do what ever it takes to make a few. Plus he actually wins a few tournamnts here and there, so he actually may be a profitable tournamnet player. Hellmuth= Money Baby!
