Life Tilt... (tl;dr - pics/graph)
I've been playing poker recreationally for a little over 4 years now. I started with 1-5 stud live at a casino in Mississippi with my cousin. That night I quickly burned $100 and was hooked. I continued playing live for the next 2 or so years as I had time. I started playing 4/8 limit HE then 10/20 and then I found NL. Read all the books, studied the game and got pretty good for a hobby. I am very fortunate to have found a career in the real estate field that has provided a very nice 6 figure income for over 9 years now. So money is no problem at all. I am quite a tight wad though so I never played any higher than 1/2 NL. I always made money in live games. It was just easy. I seem to have a good BS detector. Then good ‘ol TV tourneys get popular and I see sick monies being dropped in some random douche bag’s lap over and over again. The dream is born. I quickly discover online poker and MTTs. I proceed to spend most of my spare time playing online tourneys and run pretty goot…
http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...ds/pokerdb.jpg After I won the Sunday Million I decide that maybe my luck would hold out for some kind of cash at the 2006 WSOP. So I play a couple of WSOP ME satellites. I win the second one and plan my trip. I take $10K in cash and plan to spend about a month in Vegas through the WSOP ME. I enter 4 different prelim events and get donked out the first day in every one of them. Since I couldn’t seem to last in any of the events I had a ton of spare time on my hands. As crazy as this sounds I didn’t do any hookers, blow, strip clubs, or any of the fun stuff Vegas is known for other than gamble, of course. BTW… I have a beautiful wife and a 2 yr old son. Thriving business, friends, family, etc… Those things didn’t appeal to me much. However, I did play live 1/2 and 2/5 NL HE for about 18 to 20 hours a day. I loved it and quickly discovered hard core monkey TILT!!! It was live action so the humiliation factor kept me from going over board. The WSOP ME was no different than the prelims. I hit the rail 9 hours in when some donkey hit a 3 outer on the river, AI on flop. Long story short, I sucked in the WSOP but made up for it in live action. Left the house with $10K, wasted $7,500 in WSOP prelims, lived in Vegas for a month, and came home with $12K. Not so bad? At this point I love NL cash games but I am still a cheap a$#. Shortly after getting home I decide I am going to grind up a BR for high stakes online in my spare time. LOL!!! http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...s/LIFETILT.jpg Without going into too much detail when I got home life just wasn’t the same and my marriage was really going down hill. I only kept $1K online after the big win and started grinding it. My BR mgmt skills sucked and I had absolutely no respect for the money I was playing for. With nothing but a computer monitor to keep me accountable and my marriage being in the toilet I played like crap. Around hand 35K my wife and I separated and full blown monkey tilt took over. I went busto and having no money online and an F’ed up life I stopped playing. I now have not played in 2.5 months. Thank God I have a real job and never got so delusional that I tried to play for a living. Although, as soon as I get my head straight, I will be back! And I will take your monies! Any suggestions? What it do BBV??? |

Re: Life Tilt... (tl;dr - pics/graph)

Re: Life Tilt... (tl;dr - pics/graph)
so you mean that you can't spend a summer in vegas away from your wife w/o your marriage going downhill?
say it aint so?!?!?! |
Re: Life Tilt... (tl;dr - pics/graph)
Yeah, not sure what the problem is. The beat is that you didn't get to megatilt off the other $155k before your cheating wife got her cut.

I'm tilted about losing my wife and family. [/ QUOTE ] you were long distance with/having some problems with your wife for, like, two months, and she had an affair. also, you're up 150K in that span that she's not getting any of. I'm really not seeing the problem with the 'losing the wife' part of the story. |

[/ QUOTE ] From the sounds of this, I think OP is somehow (maybe subconsciously) blaming his "obsession" with poker for the downfall of his family life. What OP needs to realize is that if 2 [censored] months of being away led to her cheating on him, she was a bitch to begin with and he will be better off without her. OP, work on getting at least partial custody of your son, stay away from poker until your head is better, come back, grind your way to mega-robusto, give your son the best life you possibly can. And yes, Winning Sunday Million (+5) + Finding out wife is a cheating bitch (-8) + Not having to give bitch any dough (+6) = Brag (+3) |
Re: Life Tilt... (tl;dr - pics/graph)
I dunno guys, this could possibly be the best beat of BBV
This guy loses what most normal grounded people would consider the ticket to happiness (a beautiful wife and child) because hes busy grinding out SSNL and the kicker is hes doing that when hes already got what most of you consider the ticket to happiness (money). I dunno if it gets much more degen than that. |

Am I the only one who thinks letting your personal life go to [censored] for what to him basically amounts to chump change, is incredibly funny in that sad twisted kinda way? I mean this is even better than if he just blew his roll playing nosebleed or blackjack. |
Re: Life Tilt... (tl;dr - pics/graph)
This is ridiculous. This is why stupid people shouldn't have a wife or money, let the regret begin.
|
Re: Life Tilt... (tl;dr - pics/graph)
you win 155k and play 1/2 nl, lose a few thou, big fking deal
|
Re: Life Tilt... (tl;dr - pics/graph)
I see the beat in losing your kid. Kids are pretty sweet. But a cheating wife is a dime a dozen. so lets sum it up.
Brag - u won 150k in a day +10 Brag - u only lost 1k of that +9 Brag - u no longer have the complaining of a whorewife +10 Brag - u have a successful job +10 Brag - u can play the ME for 15 years without tapping the job income +10 Brag - u dont have to give whorewife a dime +10 Beat - No blow =( -4 Beat - lost the kid -10 Beat - u let a 2k downswing take u out of the game for 2.5 months -5 Variance - u didnt screw any hookers -10 but u didnt get VD +10 if my calculations are correct ur +40 and thats pretty good |
Re: Life Tilt... (tl;dr - pics/graph)
WTF, nobody has asked for pics of cheating wifey yet?
|
Re: Life Tilt... (tl;dr - pics/graph)
Need pics of cheating wifey
|
Re: Life Tilt... (tl;dr - pics/graph)
This thread sucks, you won 150K still have yet to donk it back, made monies at the WSOP and are single?
If you are on life tilt you are more than a BR nit you are a life nit. Why would you want a wife who makes you mad, cheats on you? Bro your life is goot |

Re: Life Tilt... (tl;dr - pics/graph)
This is really the ultimate in happy/sad - alobar's "degen" definition is pretty much brilliant, but it's also a solid brag (not tied to cheating wife, keeping job, getting [censored] together, bankroll mgmt) . . . I'm all Natalie Imbruglia up in this bitch.

Re: Life Tilt... (tl;dr - pics/graph)
OK... You guys have made me feel better. I think I am just feeling sorry for myself. I never wanted a divorce but oh well. Guess I will have to make a better choice for my next wife.
BTW... 50/50 joint custody; no way I'm losing my son. It's easy to make a couple hundred K in the business world but it's a lot more difficult at the poker table. The challenge really fuels my desire to play, more so than the money. And being off for almost 3 months has me itching to get back to the felt. Thanks to BBV for the comments. |
