Countdown
14 hours and 56 mins left until the WSOP cash games start. Be there or be square, 9am on Friday (I'm sick, do I get a pass?)
|
Re: Countdown
May be there this weekend, definitely coming up next weekend.
Will the variety of games being spread differ drastically? I.e. will the Mirage spread anything outside of the normal 10/20/40 HE and 5/10 O8? I'm sure the Bellagio will have a ton of huge games going - will we see a lot of mix? Anything at a reasonable level? |
Re: Countdown
I honestly think the good mid-limit action this year will be at the Rio, they increased the number of their cash game tables. The goal (and time will tell if they meet the goal) was to assure that cash games run around the clock upon request this year, where last year cash games would be broken when a table was needed for a tournament.
|
Re: Countdown
Based on the posts about dealer quality and the posts last year about lack of security (e.g., people have their rolls snatched off the tables), I have no idea why anyone would play cash games there when there are a host of good rooms on the strip.
|
Re: Countdown
I'll definitely be there checking out the action. Hope to see a few pros along the way..

[/ QUOTE ] One person had his roll snatched, and it was returned. I know because it happened at the same table I was playing at the day or so earlier (BOT). Yes the dealers were generally bad for "other" games, but it was usually not a concern for hold'em. |
Re: Countdown
any idea what the buyin is for the 5/5 plo games? curious because when i requested they spread it at the wynn, they quoted something like 1k min buyin, which i thought was a touch excessive. figured you might remember from last year.

[/ QUOTE ] If I recall correctly I dumped 2 grand playing 5/5 last year (I suck at PLO), I think I bought in for 1k the first time and $500 rebuys, but this is all hazy. |

[/ QUOTE ] 5/5 plo @ wynn is basically 5-5-10 how it plays. @ Rio the 2/5 plo had a $500 cap much of the series, $1k for 5/10. At times it went unenforced, so I dunno. I hope it's a 200bb max or uncapped. |
Re: Countdown
I'll be making my Vegas return tomorrow. Not sure where I am staying yet, but I will be there for the first $1500 event and the cash games. Someone PM me if I can stay with you for sexual favors and/or for free.

Re: Countdown
I'll be there in 11 hours and 36 mins, for 10 days. I sooooo can not wait for the juicy cash games!

Re: Countdown
It looks like the convention center is closer to Twain ave. than Flamingo. Is Twain going to be the best way to enter as far as parking and valeting goes? Or does it matter.

Re: Countdown
I'm such a degenerate, I had no plans to go this weekend until my friend came over for dinner tonight. Now I'm going to be trying to line up a hotel as soon as I get up in the morning, and then a few of us will catch a fight this evening or Saturday morning. Hopefully we'll have a room lined up, if not we'll figure something out.

Re: Countdown
[ QUOTE ]
anyone back from the Rio yet? how are the cash games looking? [/ QUOTE ] Much better than I expected in the games I sat in. The TAGs played poorly post flop as expected, most people were passive, and there was always a token retard around to create action and drama in the game. I almost never saw people check-raise, standard play at the Rio was the leading bet in the mid limit games. I dumped 40 bets in one game and 15 bets in another, but I could tell that the games were much better than the average Vegas games. What surprised me the most was the quality of the dealers - they were much better than I expected, 10x better than last year. Oddly the best dealer all night was a guy names Stefan who only deals during the series, and the worst guy was a local Vegas dealer who works on the strip. The real problem was with the list system itself, its totally messed up and useless, the board means nothing. One thing this taught me is that QueOS is a piece of crap, it wasn't designed to handle events of this size. Hand of the night went something like this - 4 people limp in, I complete the SB w/55, BB checks. Flop is Q95(suits unimportant) I bet out, UTG raises, CO calls 2 cold, I 3-bet, they both call. Turn is a J. I bet, both call. I can see that CO only has a stack left. River is T. I bet, UTG folds, CO raises all in and shows AKs - no pre-flop raise, no draw but overcards on the flop, gets a gut shot and his over cards on the turn. Suffice to say tonight was the night of huge river cards for my opponents. Ugh. |

What about that hand where the donkey called 4 bets pf with K4s? Tuco. |

Nothing worse than 205lbs raining down on the crown of your foot. Also, I get the feeling that if I hang around you all day I would meet more women in that day than i did all last year. Tuco. |

Re: Countdown
TT is indeed a damn handsome man.
Was this in the 20/40? Me and my LAGtastic self would really like to know. Passive players... yummmmmmyyyyyyy. If so then its too bad the cash games will be shut down until about early evening. A juicy 20/40 is about the only thing that'll get me to go back there anytime before the Razz event. I never did see this "separate cash game room" you mentioned somewhere else - unless you were talking about the separate tent out back. |

[/ QUOTE ] ATCWD (Any Two Cards Will Do) Jerry from Muckleshoot was at the same table, the AK guy was the older Korean(?) man. Jerry was the whole reason to play at that table, he was a dream come true - but he was also a real lucky SOB. |

[/ QUOTE ] I was told yesterday by the Rio dealer who told me about the "separate high limit room" that they moved tables into a tent. It looks like there is no high limit room after all, just a walled off area. But there are a lot of cash game tables this year, thats for sure. Just not enough dealers for them all, all the time. |
Re: Countdown
TT, what limits / games were going specifically?
Also, Stefan used to deal at Desert Diamond in Tucson when I lived there / played 3/6 and [censored]. I saw him last year at the WSOP when he dealt my 100/200 mix game. When he recognized me it was pretty hilarious, I could see all through his down he was thinking "how the hell is this kid playing with black chips now?" He is a very good dealer and really strange guy. And he's great to have in the game as well not sure if he still tries to play. -DeathDonkey |

Re: Countdown
NL - 2/5, 5/10, 10/20?
limit - 10/20, 20/40, 100/200? Supposedly some 5/10 or 25/50 PLO was somewhere in there Saw some Chinese going on There's a walled off section of 5 tables in the middle of the cash area that had a couple green/black chip games going yesterday. |
Re: Countdown
Sounds like same CRUD as last year.
Cash games we have them, BUT NO DEALERS. The "B" will do just fine AGAIN. |

And once again, the dealers were much better than I expected them to be! |
Re: Countdown
What are the min and max buy-ins for the 2/5 NL game?
Also, can someone looking to play Stud 8 (either by itself, mixed with Stud or mixed with O8) around the 10/20 range find any games in LV during the Series? |

If I could find a way to ask that without it sounding insulting I would as its probably interesting. Same goes for my opponents. -DeathDonkey |
Re: Countdown
Funny experiance today, we had the second best dealer I have come across since the series started, she was a man. Yes... SHE was a man. Super fast, could pay attention with chatting up a storm. Made a funny comment about the tips being hers, but the [censored] weren't - hysterical - my first ever transsexual dealer.
