Summer concerts, what are people seeing and where?
I havent been to a good show since i saw ben harper last september in central park. What are people seeing and at what venue this summer?
Im planning on seeing string cheese at the beacon theater in july...looking for other good ideas... |

These all take place at DTE, which is an outdoor venue. There are about 50 some rows in the pavilion that are covered and then the rest of the people are on this big hill on the lawn behind the pavilion. Shows go on rain or shine. I always go for the lawn seats. On average, the ticket price ranges from $10-$20. Anyways, here is my list...
-Foreigner -The Doobie Brothers and Peter Frampton -Ted Nugent -Def Leppard with Special Guest Styx -Poison -Dave Matthews Band -Allman Brothers Band -Rush -Pink Floyd Laser Spectacular (I am pretty pumped about this. I have heard great things. Plus, I think it will be funny to see people tripping out of their mind while I am just there to enjoy the music and the show.) -Hootie and the Blowfish So, all in all, this should be a pretty awesome summer for concerts. [/ QUOTE ] me too as well Will Wind up at Gathering of the Vibes since its so close to me Saw Moe. for the first time about a month ago (thanks Wakko) it was pretty good I might wind up at one the Rush shows or Allman's These are the "planned" shows I wind up at a few different shows through out the summer though |

For those of you going to see widespread, did u see them in the Fall? And if so, what did u think...i caught them one nite at Radio City (2nd nite i think) and was very underwhelmed.

White Stripes July 28 at Patriot Center in DC. Hopefully a couple others, but that's the only definite one at this point.

Monolith -- it's going to be a couple of larger stages, and then smaller spaces (say, 350-500 capacity or so) for the smaller acts. An acquaintance of mine is one of the organizers (he previously did the Midwest Music Summit in Indianapolis), and has a pretty good idea how to space this stuff out.
I don't really know how they're going to prevent sound bleed through from one show to the next, but I'm sure they have a handle on it. Basically, Monolith is kinda the successor to the South Park Music Festival that went on the past couple of years, but has far outgrown its roots. |

Last weekend went to El Festi De Bella Luna and saw MMW, Mike Doughty, and Ozomotli. Absolutely awesome time.
4th of July weekend: Fatfest End of July: Ten Thousand Lakes Festival - This lineup is insane August: Grateful Garcia Gathering Sept: Harvestfest I REALLY want to go to Wakarusa, but am WAY too strung out from last weekend. |

I probably won't be going to too much this summer since I'll be in Vegas, but I remember thinking the Pitchfork festival lineup looked pretty cool.
