Brian didn\'t respect PA till he lost 240k?

"I am on my laptop so I don't' have any hand histories from yesterday. I ended up down about 240K to Patrik in our HU match. This was our fifth match and I had not been impressed with his play in the previous four. I felt that I really out played him, well this match was different. He played extremely well and I have to give him credit. He countered my strategy and overall game plan well. "

WTF? I don't think brian is great but I know he doesnt' suck. Did he ever wonder why he "outplayed" PA so much. Maybe its cause Brian ran hot and PA ran like crap, not cause he's "not impressive" I think Brian came off the same conceited way just before that 1 million dollar omaha downswing ('I'm top 5 in the world!'). I'm really jealous and hope brian suffers a huge losing streak, as that would make me feel better about myself. I find it hard to believe that one individual is vastly better than all other internet pros who have played longer. I know 2+2 loves brian AND THAT HE IS A SOLID PLAYER, but what are the odds he's soo much better than all the top NLHE players? Lets be real here. I understand TLK being that much better but he had a super high IQ and still lost to Patrick sometimes. Brian comes off as a total douche. I know you guys wont agree cause you have gay love for him. But this is my view.

No. I don't know much about brian or TLK as I am not a fanboy of any of this stuff (but do enjoy reading the gossip about busto's) but your statement is plain stupid and as such it made the rest of your post come off as being a big level.

I guess, since you wrote it, it probably wasn't a level and was just stupid. I'm sorry for ever posting in a thread you started.

The overall point Salazar is making is correct: for all the pros that play the big NL cash games I don't think any one has a substantial edge over a consistent winning regular...running good/bad is still a huge factor aka luck.

I don't understand.

Brian thinks Patrik didn't play particularly well in their first four heads-up matches...

...and Orlando [censored] Salazar thinks it's because Brian doesn't understand how luck works or how to properly assess his edge?

"LOL"?

I know any post dissing a 2+2 god attracts negative attention. I'm actually curious about peoples opinions on this matter. I want to know if they really believe Brian is sooo much better than other pros AND why they believe it. That is a fair question for NVG. If people just wanna call me stupid, I'm fine with that. I'm sure someone will make a decent post. If you remember, I made a post asking about CTS and he responed and many people found it interesting. Why would you post to ask me this. I don't want attention from jimmy frike mfers who can only dispute my comments by calling me stupid. But, this is 2+2 and that comes with the territory.

Thanks for the comment. Yes, I think he may have ran above expecation and doesn't notice what a huge impact it can have on an opponent, if he even notice he was running hot at all. Why do these turn into personal attacks on me though? And dont say because I'm hating on brian. Me hating on brian doesn't give you cause to hate on me for any other reason than how you feel about yourself. If the thread is stupid, just don't post.

The fact that you don't think Brian is well aware of this possibility is why your logic is absurd. You don't think Brian has some idea of how to assess the difference between running hot and actual play when evaluating a session?

Just for the recoed: I find I.Q. dickswinging really lame. That said I doubt you find winning nosebleed stakes players with a lower one.

Orlando Salazar 05-29-2007 04:27 PM

Re: Brian didn\'t respect PA till he lost 240k?

Me thinking running well can go unoticed by brian is absurd? Perhaps improbable, but not absurd.

I'm not bitter toward 2+2, but I do hate the small stakes grinders that flame me and blindly worship brian. Lets be real Nath, many (most?) 2+2ers are not good or even winning above 50NL. I'd guess there are about 150 or so (another topic)
Yes, I am insecure about my poker. I don't know why i am still stuck at 400NL when brian just coasted right through and has millions. Notice how I haven't ever dissed CTS or Action Jeff...i can understand how they play as I've railed them. Brian's play just doesn't make sense. I want to either understand him or for him to fail. Perhaps you're a stronger person, but I doubt it. I'm sure you have your own insecurities (like being ugly or fat). They probably manifest themselves in other ways. I vent mine anonymously on a poker forum. I'm totally fine with that.

Your title sucks. He never said he didn't respect PA. He said he wasn't impressed with his play in their first four encounters. Maybe there's good reason for this. I'm not going to join in the flaming, but I will say that I'm definitely not anti-Townsend. However I do think it may be possible that, having been a small stakes player such a short time ago, Brian may have an unrealistic expectation of better than average luck. I'm not saying he isn't a great player, but I DO believe the possibility that he has overestimated his edge in some cases.

/sigh - i really shouldn't get involved but I'm bored.

a) Who is TLk and how do you know he has an IQ of 160?

b) "and still lost to Patrick sometimes. " - Huh? this is the really stupid part. I garuntee you that if I played multiple limit holdem sessions against ANYONE in the world (including PA, TLK and Phil Ivey) I would beat them in at least one session. Does that really mean anything? I'm guessing the best HU limit holdem player in the world is no more than around 60-65% against a winning 10-20 SH limit player. Basically this one part of this one sentence invalids the rest of your post.

c) This is very similar to b but all of the comments your posted in OP really show your lack of understanding of variance.

d) This is similar to b and c - you are stupid.

Actually, you are very good at what you do - post to incite response. I responded and I never respond in these threads. Maybe you aren't as stupid as you initially appear... maybe...
