Mr. Sicko strikes again: Michael Moore Has a Boner for Cuba
Self-promoting, self-gloating, and propagandist master Mr. Moore has again thrust himself into the spotlight of media hype with his new film Sicko, [another link here Sicko at Cannes, note how some goons are already salivating over this movie], ostensibly a documentary about the failure of the American Health Care System. The film title is probably more a statement about Mr. Moore than anything else. This dimwitted, fat-faced maggot has flair for stirring up the masses and getting credulous do-gooders and other self-pimping world savers all worked into a boiling froth. Something they all deserve by the way.
Mr. Moore’s sleazy use of 9/11 rescue workers and his shuffle off to Buffalo schtick of visiting the island paradise of Cuba to seek health care for same is a neat trick. He lambastes America, the Evil Empire, while soothing the cockles of every leftist’s heart with the old canard of Cuba’s miraculous health care system. The sycophants and other lickspittle morons that follow every fart and fallacy uttered or promoted by self-serving idiots like Mr. Moore will no doubt lap up this leftist spew like a root beer float on a hot summer day. Enjoy. -Zeno |

Re: Mr. Sicko strikes again: Michael Moore Has a Boner for Cuba
Thanks for reminding me about this movie. I had forgotten about it. Can't wait to see it. I'll probably send Michael Moore an additional $100 in the mail too, depends how well I run that day.
Enjoy. -Dan. |

Not that I don't enjoy you're writing ability (I do, no sarcasm) your post offers no real counter to anything in MM's newest documentary.

[/ QUOTE ] I have not seen MM's newest documentary so can't offer any critique. A few reviews have hit the electronic waves but not realistic hard data. The movie has not even been shown in the US yet, at least not anywhere where I can see it, lowly plebian that I am. But if the past is any indication of the future Mr. Moore will not disappoint in the entertainment category, even if lax in science, statistical facts, or deliberately misrepresentative in the factual column. Time, as always, will tell. There are however a few things that are ease to predict. I touched on a few, others can fly their own banners at will. -Zeno |
Re: Mr. Sicko strikes again: Michael Moore Has a Boner for Cuba
From what I heard, this wasn't as bad as most of his other crap. But its hard to do otherwise.
|
Re: Mr. Sicko strikes again: Michael Moore Has a Boner for Cuba
Just the fact that he took it to Cuba, where he was guaranteed first class treatment and to have available the best of their medical system, instead of to a more comparable country with a different medical delivery system tells you that this is another mockumentary

Well at least we can count on Fox News to go on the attack ...oh wait...did hell freeze over?
Fox News: Sicko is brilliant and uplifting |
Moore at Lehigh
The only time I've been close to Moore was when he came to speak at Lehigh. There was a college republican table outside the auditorium he was speaking at offering literature. The luny leftists that came to see Moore ended up destroying their table and literature and violently attacking the college republicans. I wasn't there so I can't tell you the whole story, but as I understand Moore really got them riled up right before it happened.

Re: Moore at Lehigh
I'm left wondering what loony leftists could possibly afford Lehigh (gotta love mommy and daddy protecting their kids!). Moreover why would any loony leftist want to go to an institution that did/does? so much defense research (I believe most of it was connected with the steel...)

I was really hoping Moore would just go away. This movie is sad news.

Re: Mr. Sicko strikes again: Michael Moore Has a Boner for Cuba
Moore has turned out to be a full-blown communist:
TIME: Of the declared presidential candidates, down to the Dennis Kucinich level, say, who do you think has the best health-care plan? Including Kucinich? We could include him. Michael Moore: Then Kucinich, but he doesn’t go far enough. He supports what he’s calling a single- payer nonprofit plan, but from my read, it would still allow [private] entities to control things, as opposed to the government. What’s wrong with the government? The right wing and the G.O.P. have done a wonderful job brainwashing people that government doesn’t work, and then, as Al Franken says, they get elected and proceed to prove the point. [Laughs.] TIME: So you think Washington could handle a program this big? Michael Moore: Ask anyone on Social Security if their check comes on time every month. Like clockwork. And it comes through the so-called dilapidated U.S. mail. My dad’s check literally will come on the same day every month. The government has been quite good and efficient at creating a number of systems. If I tell people the administrative costs for a private health plan —advertising, p.r., executive pay —are 20% and ask them what Medicare’s administrative costs are, they’ll guess 50%, 60%. The fact is, for Medicare/ Medicaid, it’s 3%. The last figure I read for Canada’s [government] system is 1.7%. http://www.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,1622178,00.html If he has really used Cuba as an example on his things can be done better, then that would blow my mind. It's like visiting Communist Russia, back in the day, to see how the food supply can be handled better. Or current day North Korea for that matter. |

America's health care system sucks.
America's justice system sucks. America's prison system sucks. America's foreign policy sucks. America's uber-patriotism and religiousness suck. America's TV shows and movies are great. America's sports are great. I'm a liberal. I don't believe in God. Am I a communist? |

Those other issues are naturally not very related to state interventionism. People in America use the word 'communism' in ridiculous contexts. |

[/ QUOTE ] If Spiderman 1,2,and 3 were crap Spiderman 4 also has a good chance of being crap. Not necessarily so, but I would put money on it. Aside from that, the main point of the post was to poke fun of Mr. Moore and the lickspittle morons that lap up his spew, not as a full critique of Moore’s recent movie (see my second post in this thread). That and I mentioned the undisputed fact (gleaned from reviews and media information) that Mr. Moore drags 9/11 rescue workers to Cuba to receive medical care, an obvious stunt done to promote his agenda with the twist of a knife and a wink of the eye to his audience. Not a bad bit of propaganda. -Zeno |
Re: Mr. Sicko strikes again: Michael Moore Has a Boner for Cuba
On the heels of Michael Moore's Sicko, Obama offers a plan for Universal Health Care:
Universal Health Care Plan Obama will unveil this plan today in Iowa City. It essentially is this - "Under Obama's proposal, everyone would be able to obtain health insurance, and the Illinois senator would create a National Health Insurance Exchange to monitor insurance companies in offering the coverage. In essence, Obama's plan retains the private insurance system but injects additional money into the system to pay for the expanded coverage." And also this: "In all, Obama said, the typical consumer would save $2,500 a year." Details are not given. But on the surface this reeks of just another layer of administrative paperwork to supposedly save money and bring in universal health care for all. Pardon me if I remain skeptical of this proposal. -Zeno |

Re: Mr. Sicko strikes again: Michael Moore Has a Boner for Cuba
I used to think Roger and Me was pretty good and MM just went bad with all the success.
However, a funny twist in Mr. Moore's past was discovered in Manufacturing Dissent ( I am told ). It turns out Roger Smith actually gave a pretty extensive interview to him but they edited that out of Roger and Me. The whole point of the movie was MM supposedly unable to get close to Smith. So evil from the start it seems. D. |

Re: Mr. Sicko strikes again: Michael Moore Has a Boner for Cuba
Romney also has a universal health care plan, which, I believe, he has implemented in Massachusetts. I'd rather live there than in Cuba, but it's close. Comes down to a choice between indoor plumbing and the suffering the Red Sox.

You'd better update some Wiki page to make it official. |

I don't read this forum much. Could someone link to a thread or articles on other sites with a good debate of universal health care vs. free market system?

Thanks for you unbiased, balanced review. You always know that when someone leads out with an insult or personal attack (and then continues with them over and over), they have little to offer in the way of logical persuasion.
