People saying NH after a horrid hand
 

Does this annoy anyone else? Don't get me wrong, I give credit where credit is due, but people who say NH to the guy who hit his one outer on the river after playing terrible really annoys me.

And "nh" to players who hit their 1-outer is meant as an insult, if you didn't get that much.

At low limit turbos i have a feeling it is said with genuine sincerity > 80% of the time, at least.

When I'm not involved in a hand and a fish plays a hand horribly and wins I often say "nh" so the fish keeps playing like that and maybe gets the loser of the pot pissed off.

When someone 1 or 2-outers me, and if it's a fish, I often say nh and try to do that in a sincere way. I try to make him feel comfortable to keep playing at the table, so that I have the opportunity to take my money back.
If that annoys regulars at the same time, well, that's a bonus. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

I do the same versus fish. Good advice for people who would otherwise be tempted to berate them... can't imagine why it would annoy regulars.

It's a sophisticated way to reinforce bad play from your opponents. If you say "nh" after someone sucks out on you, they are more likely to play badly in the future. On the contrary, if you say nothing, they will probably tighten up and play much better.

Indeed, I see this way more often, and THAT annoys me to no end. Not the way people say it after they get sucked out on or when they suck out.

Yeah that is annoying, but it's even more annoying when the guy who won the pot says it. And even worse is when they say "ty"

I say NH to villain after he outdraws me with his 3 outer. I think that saying NH prevents me from going on tilt.

However if villain responds with TY that puts me on even bigger tilt ... so its a double edged sword.

NH doesn't tilt me nearly as much as TY, especially if it comes from someone who made a ridiculous outdraw to take a big pot from me.

I say it all the time to get the person to continue playing and think they are playing correctly. It only increases your advantage over them, if you dont understand this then your the one ill be saying NH to at the tables.

It annoys me that people can't actually spell the words nice hand or thank you. if someone says "nh" to me i respond with "thank you" or nothing at all because i feel that sort of conversation is generally gay.

I was playing a SNG when some fish donked off all their chips to this guy who had me outchipped about 5:1 heads up. "Good luck" he says, to which I respond by flopping two pairs, sets and nut straights. By the time the tables turned and I was about to knock him out he starts complaining about me being a luckbox. Hypocrite.....
