WinStar This Weekend?!?
 

Anyone going to WinStar this weekend? Me and some of my friends will be arriving at around 10pm on Friday. We'll be there a couple days and I figured I would see if anyone's going up.

I'll probably be there Sunday. IIRC there is a $200 tourney this weekend

What's the structure like? Is it the same as all the other 'big' tournaments?

Sorry man. They have sheets on the desk by the brush. The structure sucks from almost all accounts. I keep hoping they'll fix it now that they have the new room, but...

Me too. I'm driving from Austin to Okla City, I'm going to stop in from about noon to 8 to play some 4/8 and check out the new room. I'll be the guy with the goatee, slight gut, and having 3 outers rained down on him like, well, rain.

Will be there from Sat. afternoon to Monday afternoon. Not continuous though. I usually wear a red t-shirt. On sat, will probably wear long sleeve dress shirt with jeans and boots, or may go with the red t - Not sure yet. Usually play 2/5 NL, and my hand is always a pair of deuces when someone asks!

i'll be staying away for a while. last night, i lost my biggest nlhe pot to date.

after running bad, but still grinding up to about 800 in the 2/5 game, this hand happens.

old guy(og) is about even w/me in chips, while evil guy(eg) has me covered.

og limps in and eg raises to 25, which he'd been doing a lot. i call in the bb w/4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. og calls.

3 to the flop

flop comes: 3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

i bet out 55 w/my set, og raisest to 155, and eg pushes for about 900 having me covered.

i go into the tank for all of about 30 seconds before saying, "i can't fold," and pushing my money in. og folds.

eg shows Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (this is not a typo)

you know the rest.....sigh

Isn't that just (painful) variance? I mean you're 70% when the money goes in.

In EG's defense - sort of - unless you've flopped a flush, a straight or a set there is no way you're calling off 145BB here. You happened to flop a set, you did call and you got introduced to the 30%, right?

no 6/12 game running friday night. had to grind it out at 4/8. great table though, but I ran super cold. amazingly, I left about even. I was the guy in the Stars jersey.

wifey's still out of town, so I'm considering a return trip tonight.

did nothing exciting happen this weekend? did anyone do well in the 220 tourney they had? i had a good night at 5/10 that included hitting a 5 outter for a 1600+ pot(made up for the 1700 pot i lost a few nights prior).

i ended up buying into the 220(mainly as a way to force myself out of the cash game before donating back), playing it on no sleep, and busted out in the 3rd level.

Final 5 chopped it even up if I heard correctly. About 260+ entries. Finished the first level at 8k (avg was around 3600) but after my table broke I went a bit card dead and busted before the second break in about 120ish place.

Blinds 300-600
I have ~6500. MP calls, I call on the button w/ Ts9s, SB folds, BB checks. Both cover me.

Flop QT9 two hearts
BB bets 1200, MP calls, I push. BB thinks for a few then calls. MP folds and shows KQo, BB also turns up KQo (no hearts) and hits a K on the turn. gg nh lol. Not a terrible beat, about 70/30 I guess, shrug.

Also played 5-10 Omaha H/L and some 10-20 limit HE, 2-5 NL. The PLO never went off. Had a fun weekend but played too long and crappy at the end, ended down about $500.

Is 5/10 omaha the only limits they have? Usually with most places I visit, there is nothing lower than 5/10 for omaha.

I have seen a list for a 2/5 pot limit ohama game, but I think it might have been an interest list. I have never seen ohama being played at winstar.

I have seen 2/5 PLO, 5/10 PLO/ROE (round of each, half HE, half PLO) and 4/8 and 5/10 O8 actually go. I have played in the O8s. 4/8 had a half kill once, and I could afford that. If it's pure 5/10, I can afford that too once I figure out how to win again.
