My Squeeze got called. How do I proceed?
In the SB with A9o, 6 handed. Blinds are 2K/4K no antes.
Stacks of those in the hand: Me (SB) ~125K UTG - ~95K Button - ~105K UTG is a lagtard & min-raises to 8K. Folds to button who flat calls. I bump it to 30K assuming the lagtard is just being that & having seen the button call UTG's raises before & steal pots from him postflop. UTG flatcalls my raise & button folds. Flop is K 8 4 rainbow. How do I proceed? Do I fire at the flop? If so, how much for? I've got about ~95K left behind at this point & UTG has ~65K. Also - 1) is a squeeze an acceptable play here, considering if I get called I'll be playing it OOP & 2) was 30K the correct amount to squeeze with there? |
Re: My Squeeze got called. How do I proceed?
Given your read, he is not folding ever. Check fold. Also, I wouldn't bluff a loose station.

Re: My Squeeze got called. How do I proceed?
i'd just shove... BTW, i'd rather just shove PF in a spot like this

Re: My Squeeze got called. How do I proceed?
If you're pushing, I would shove preflop instead of that raise.

Re: My Squeeze got called. How do I proceed?
I'm not normally coy like this, but I think a pf shove with 30BBs and no antes to win 5BBs is yucky.

Re: My Squeeze got called. How do I proceed?
Fold preflop. The stack sizes are not right for a squeeze and you don't bluff a calling station.
As played, you have to push the flop. You may be ahead. |
Re: My Squeeze got called. How do I proceed?
a) squeeze a little more 35-40g
b)give up if he stinks he cant fold. i dont like to bluff the unbluffable once theyve committed good amt of chips. he has a legit hand here. im not afraid to bluff but i also am not afraid to call off the dogs if i feel my play wont work. this is where gut comes in if i get that feeling i can bully him ill fire at it |
Re: My Squeeze got called. How do I proceed?
By lagtard do you mean that UTG does not have fold discipline? If that's the case check-fold this flop. If you've seen him make some laydowns then shove this flop.
Like "registrar" I don't like a preflop shove with the size of your stack. Your M is high enough that you can still play poker even if you fold postflop here. |
Re: My Squeeze got called. How do I proceed?
46k in pot and it is 22k for him to call. He has good odds on his money...I don't see how you are going to get a minraise from UTG to fold with that small of a bet....especially when he will have position on you.
You either have to give up on the hand or put him to a much harder decision. |

You probably have some kind of win percentage and you are getting like 2-1 pot odds. Plus he may have missed the dry flop and may fold. You are 33% against a top 20% hand and 17% against a top 10% hand, so with pot odds pushing is a good semibluff. Re: My Squeeze got called. How do I proceed?
If I push the flop - do I get mid-high PP's to fold often?
Would 99-QQ fold very often in that spot with a K on the flop? I'm assuming if he was playing any pocket under 8 he'd have to fold it? As mentioned in my OP, the button had previously stolen pots from UTG quite often post flop, which is why I Wasn't overly concerned with his holdings when I made the original raise. If I bet weak (say 30K again) does this get him to fold anytime? And if he were soving that, would I be committed to calling the 35K? (I assume the answer would be yes to that). |
