wells fargo debit card
I read in these 2+2 threads that some debit cards do work on stars and of course you wouldn't have to pay the 9.95 fee. Some debit cards people here mentioned were wells fargo. I just have an account at bank of america and another local bank and of course those debit cards/credit got declined when i tried to deposit into Pokerstars.
So can i go to wells fargo tomrorow and open and account and get my debit card immediately and use it assuming i put cash in there tomorrow? I do not remember if i got my bank of america debit card immediately when i opened an account there a few years ago. I'm asking this because i want to make a deposit by the 22nd because of the stars reload bonus. Or do wells fargo give me a debit card through mail which probably takes a week or so? Thanks. |
Re: wells fargo debit card
ya they give u one via mail, also when u receieve it you will need to attempt to deposit, then call wells fargo's fraud department to verify that it is you that is attempting the deposit. This did work for me but the last time I deposited on stars via wells fargo was about a month ago.

Re: wells fargo debit card
Oh thanks. Do you know how long it took for you to receive it through mail? I guess i will just deposit using moneygram this time since i doubt they can send me a debit card within 6 days.

Re: wells fargo debit card
I would have to say 7-10 days but thats just a rough estimate.

Re: wells fargo debit card
okay. I have one more question. I have a bank of america checking account and have a debit card with it. I also have another account in another bank but its a savings account that pays very little interest 0.25 percent exactly because I am allowed to withdraw money anytime with the only requirement that i have a minimum of 1000 dollars in that savings account.
So do i have to open a savings account at wells fargo or a checking account to get a debit card? If it doesn't matter, would the savings be better than the checking? |
Re: wells fargo debit card
well I think the only way you can get a debit card is if you get the checking account. And I cannot remember but it almost seemed like it was required to get the savings account? maybe not but it won't hurt to have it, also like all other savings accounts the interest is crap.
|
Re: wells fargo debit card
btw i think you have to have a minimum of 300 in your savings acount or else they charge a $3/mth fee
|
Re: wells fargo debit card
You do not have to open both, but to get the debit card card, you do have to open a checking account. The savings account comes with a cash on demand card that can not be used for purchases, only withdrawls. The checking account card can be used for online deposits. You will get charged a monthly fee for the checking account unless you set up direct deposit, or work for a company that Wells Fargo has an agreement with to waive the fees, otherwise you pay a monthly charge.
|
Re: wells fargo debit card
how does direct deposit work then? Is that free? I am still a student right now and don't work currently.
|
Re: wells fargo debit card
bump. I want to do this tomrrowo.
|
Re: wells fargo debit card
i think wells fargo gives students free checking accounts. at least they did when i worked there. 6 years ago... also u need a job to have direct deposit.
|
Re: wells fargo debit card
oh. Would you know the fees that you have to pay if you do not have a job?
|
Re: wells fargo debit card
heres what i know..
i switched from b of a to wells fargo because i moved, and I definitely regret it... B of A has more ATM locations, better customer service, and much better internet.. The only benefit has been the direct deposit to both full tilt and stars.. there is no service fee for this.. Sometimes, it just does not work, there seems to be no reason to it... They have so many different types of accounts, I would find it hard to believe they charge for any type of checking account... |
Re: wells fargo debit card
so would i most likely get an account no charge even though i have no job?
|
Re: wells fargo debit card
yes if u are a student
|
Re: wells fargo debit card
okay thanks. Will check soon.

Re: wells fargo debit card
I heard rumors that someone here used a wells fargo debit card and it worked, so I tried to use mine a while back and mine was declined. I live in California and when I tried depositing at various sites using my debit card I was declined. So I don't want to burst your bubble, but my debit card from wells fargo didnt work.

Re: wells fargo debit card
The reason your card is not working is because it is showing a charge to a comapny in like some random country etc.
You call Fargo's Fraud 800 # and say you want to deposit on FTP or Stars or any other site pretty much. then they clear your card to make depsoits on those sites. |
Re: wells fargo debit card
its free to use the card right?

Re: wells fargo debit card
Bumped to add:
Just got back from my local Wells Fargo branch, where I talked to the manager and the WF Fraud Dept. I followed the instructions in this thread and had previously "cleared" FullTilt as an acceptable payee for my account. Made a couple of successful deposits via my Wells debit card and everything seemed to be working fine. Went to deposit some more so I could play higher and the card was declined, no reason stated. Tried again, same result. Then went to use my debit card somewhere else and it was declined there as well. Turns out that Wells hadn't permanently added FullTilt to my account as an acceptable payee as I had asked, but had instead only given them a 72 hour window of acceptance, after which (and unbeknownst to me) it would be necessary for me to reauthorize FTP as an acceptable payee. They then silently froze my card when I tried to make several unauthorized FTP deposits in a row. The WF Fraud department said that this was standard operating procedure, and that clearance for future deposits to FTP would also follow the "good for 72 hours only" rule. I asked about funding an ePassporte e-wallet, and they told me that they were no longer permitting any (their word) transactions with ePassporte, as they had experienced too much actual fraud with ePassporte accounts. (I don't know if this applies to withdrawals as well as deposits). Cliff notes: Wells Fraud Department says any pre-approval for FTP deposits via Wells debit cards is only good for 72 hours, then must be reauthorized. Also stated that ePassporte is no longer an option for Wells Fargo customers. |
Re: wells fargo debit card
I added a wells fargo account for a 2nd bank. I bought into stars this week. 1st time I have ever bought in on any site with this card. Wells Fargo Debit card got approved. It said as pending for 3 days, then shows up as PSTARS LONDON on my statement.
I have had no other issues with the account. |

I didn't know that! |
Re: wells fargo debit card
Just got my new wells fargo debit card and it works on PS.
It was initially declined until I fixed the my address in pokerstars to match the address wells fargo had. No need to call Wells Fargo. Also, my AT&T Visa gift card ($25 rebate for signing up for DSL)also worked. |
Re: wells fargo debit card
No problems with WF on PS or AP, didnt have to call-in. was declined at WPEX followed by quick automated call to my house asking if i had initiated transaction.

Re: wells fargo debit card
For any US players having WF debit card deposit problems, 1-888-293-7475 is the direct line to the WF fraud department. I've found them to be surprisingly helpful.

Re: wells fargo debit card
My WF card does not work for any of the sites. It used to until I had it renewed. So I opened a Compass account and smooth sailing now.
