Difficult decision...

which of the pocket pairs is the luckiest?

way back in the day it was 6's but now 8's and 9's are feeling super lucky 3's are also ridiculously lucky.

Anyone got any good anecdotal evidence? I have no idea (Also AA-TT are all super unlucky obviously)

Re: Difficult decision...

Definitely not 7s, they are the pocket pair I have been set oversetted with more than any other pair.

what are ur thoughts on flush theory

it is my belief that hearts get u the most two card ace high flushes (usually with the jack). clubs are good for kign high and queen high flushes. diamonds are the only ones that can get u straight flushes. spades only get u a flush when its like 86 of spades

Re: Difficult decision...

A couple years ago I was stuck like $200 in a 3/6 live game and back then $200 was an actual amount of dollars that meant something. Some retard sucks out on my AA with like Jh8h after like A93 flop with 1 heart and he backdoor flushes me and on the river he says "I had the hearts" and my friend that was also stuck says "yeah, it's always a little better with hearts".

Maybe like a month or so ago in a 20 game I had a hand with AA where flop is Ah9x8x and I'm up against Kh9h and we go infinite mcbets on the turn and then he raises river after backdoor and hearts win it again.

So since these I am fairly sure that hearts are much stronger than any other suit.

*edit*
I just remembered another hand where hearts showed their true strength. 20 game with overs, laggy player opens I 3bet Ah7h and different laggy guy caps from blinds. Flop is like 7 high with two hearts. We cap 3 ways with overs, turn blank and I take free card. River is heart no board pair and first guy bets, one calls, I raise, blind lag calls and other folds. He has KhJh and I win. I'm not sure if that means hearts are good or bad since he lost a giant pot with them, but I won a big one. If anything it proves how good they are at making flushes because we had extra dead hearts and we still got there.

With spades, of course, you make your flush when the other guy makes a straight-flush. I fold pre-flop.

Presto (55) Baby!!

Also, I've made a lot of money on side action, betting that the Board (all five cards) will be all red.
Up over $200 over the last month with $15.00 per bet.

In addition, the Q and 8 have been showing up on the Board quite often, so I'm taking the bet when I can get some decent odds.

Seems like 99 is the most common set to catch with an accompanied Ace on the flop, which always gives me a boner.

I'd also like to note that clubs used to be extremely unlucky for me, but their performance has increased dramatically ever since I was made aware that they are actually puppy feet.

A not well-known fact to many top players is that 74o is the non-paired hand that is most likely to flop quads.

I can vouch for the fact that I have never heard a top player remark that 74 comes quads more often.

I got no luck with ducks and reverse ducks here (22-55). They never catch sets or people folds to them on the flop.

This is the most awesome thread in MHSH this year.

Obviously 33 is the PP that hits sets the most. In my PT data i have them hitting set on the flop just over 1 in 6 times

Re: Difficult decision...

99 is disgustingly sick as it always flops A9x and similarly A9 is the best way to beat an overmatched ace. 88 has been demoted on my list to savagely unlucky

I haven't had much success with open limping 62o on the button, so I'd recommend not doing that.

Tryptamean 05-15-2007 10:46 PM

Re: Difficult decision...

this thread is rad

55 is the most likely to catch running 5s for quads vs my KK, thereby giving some donk a gigantic high hand jackpot, conversely, 55 is most likely to flop a set for myself when I'm running bad, forget to reload soon enough and end up going all in on the turn vs AK w/ top 2

also, hearts (Q8 in particular) are definitely the most powerful str8 flush hand, because I made my first ever str8 flush with Q8. I also made two str8 flushes in hearts in one live session, the first with Q8, and the second with 55 were I flop a set of 5s on a 7h6h5x flop and catch running 8h, 9h, and I ck behind my str8 flush, thinking my set is almost worthless, which adds to the perceived strength of hearts and wierdness/missing value of 55

by the way, i suck at poker

since this is a NC thread can you guys do that thing where you rip on me for complaining about 25k breakeven?

Buffsta8 05-15-2007 11:21 PM

Re: Difficult decision...

I'd rather be a 5b loser than breakeven over 25k cause at least then I could quit poker. In todays games with more mentally unstable opposition and the huge possiblity of bot malfunction if you arent winning at least 8bb/100 you might as well eat your own faeces. Also 25k is a huge sample size and from this I can definitely say if you played for another 250k hands you would almost certainly breakeven too. Sucks to be you!

it has turned trip 3's on the turn 4x vs. me

I had AA 1 time and JJ one and TPGK the other 2 and only called down all of them because it was a c/r into at least 2 players
