Re: Sopranos May 13 Spoilers
Who is the actress that plays the girl in Vegas? She is absolutely smoking.
|
Re: Sopranos May 13 Spoilers
Well, that should quiet those of you hoping for a major character to die for a few weeks.
Good episode. Pretty crazy to think that Chris is actually dead. That was the first monent it really dawned on me that this show is going to end. |

SCREW YOU DAVID CHASE FOR JUKING ME OUT WITH THE DREAM WAKEUP. [/ QUOTE ] Did you really think he was telling Melfi about all the murders he has committed? |
Re: Sopranos May 13 Spoilers
Did Tony kill Chrissy because he was going to fail the drug test, or because he was in such bad shape he knew he was going to die anyway and made it quicker?
|
Re: Sopranos May 13 Spoilers
I'm amazed at how this show is able to make me feel sorry for Paulie, the prick that he is.

[/ QUOTE ] I think mostly because he realized he was a worthless drug addict that was never gonna be able to kick his habit. He was weak like Tony said and a serious liabilty, as evidenced by killing JT last week. |

Re: Sopranos May 13 Spoilers
two deus ex machinas in one show - disappointing. i feel like tony's need to get rid of christopher and the impossibility of doing so would've made for some great tension through the rest of the series. instead they have him have a symbolic car crash (he cares more about music than the conversation about business), tony happens to be okay, christopher happens to be seriously hurt, so tony can kill him. weak. then the drug experience in vegas seemed contrived - i suppose the fact that tony knows he's away from anyone who knows him makes it somewhat plausible.
an okay episode, tough to follow last week's act - can't really argue with filming in vegas (even if they did use the same shot three times) |
Re: Sopranos May 13 Spoilers
Not to brag or anything, but I was born in St. Clare's Hospital in Denville. (Where Tony was taken.) But that part of the show doesn't make sense. Denville is west of where Tony/Crew lives. If he was coming back from the city, why would he be taken to St. Clare's? You would think that Chase would realize this since most people from NJ follow the show religously.

[/ QUOTE ] No, I kept thinking the whole Chris dying thing was a dream sequence for some reason, I guess I'm just not ready to let the psycho go. |

[/ QUOTE ] there's no east haledon or west caldwell (or wherever tony lives). there's plenty of poetic license taken with nitty points like this. given where tony and chris were, there's almost no chance they have a drive as long as they did through woods like that. so, instead of saying 'so, chris, while we're driving around discussing this possible asbestos deal, what did you think of it?', chase left that out. |

Yeah, it took me a minute to figure out if Tony still had the bruises on his face when they showed him waking up on the bed. I was ready to be seriously pissed if the entire episode to that point had been a dream. |
Re: Sopranos May 13 Spoilers
Good riddance Christopher.

Re: Sopranos May 13 Spoilers
havent seen it but just reading this thread makes the episode sounds awful. you figure killing Chris would make for one of the best episodes of the series cuz it is such a huge event.
Ala Pussy getting whacked/adrianna etc. this sounds like they just gave him some contrived death scene |

[/ QUOTE ] I am from North Caldwell, NJ. This is the same town in which Tony Soprano's physical house is and it is where (i believe) that his house is 'supposed' to be in in fictional soprano land. If I drive on Passaic ave for 2 minutes I enter West Caldwell which I assure you, does exist. I am not sure why you would claim that West Caldwell is a made up town or that the Sopranos is not true to the location without having specific knowledge of the area. The show is usually very close to reality in their descriptions of the area and the writers are generally very careful to avoid inconsistencies like the one that the OP pointed out. edit: What scenes are in "east haledon" are you sure that you just have not misheard them saying East Hannover or Eastampton? --- I enjoyed the episode. |
Re: Sopranos May 13 Spoilers
to above poster,
not at all, I'd rather them do much less...these last few episodes seem rushed and contrived. |
Re: Sopranos May 13 Spoilers
When Tony looked in the backseat and looked at the kids seat, and still followed through...
cold. |
Re: Sopranos May 13 Spoilers
[ QUOTE ]
When Tony looked in the backseat and looked at the kids seat, and still followed through... cold. [/ QUOTE ] I didnt see it that way. He realized that if the baby was with Chris instead of himself that the [censored] drug addict wouldve killed her. Dont get me wrong, Tony obviously killed him for selfish reasons, but saving the baby from Chris's irresponsibility was part of how he justified it to himself. He made a point to bring up the limb through the carseat multiple times to try and prevent anyone from feeling sympathy for Chris, thus making himself feel better. |
Re: Sopranos May 13 Spoilers
what denomination chips was tony playing with when he won big on peyote??
|
Re: Sopranos May 13 Spoilers
I was let down by the peyote trip

Startling that he tells Melfi that he is mad at the other mourners because he fakes it, when duplicity is central to his whole life. Great ep. Julianna looked great. The eye tuck worked. Even Carmela agreed... |
Re: Sopranos May 13 Spoilers
So what was the point of spending half the episode on Tony doing peyote in Vegas? I feel like I'm missing something there.
|
Re: Sopranos May 13 Spoilers
nit part:
cornell - i was caught guessing on the caldwells - between them, the brunswicks, and the oranges, i forget which exist and which do not. iirc, the sopranos live in a fictional caldwell, but i think i'm recalling incorrectly. on tonight's episode there was an 'east haledon middle school' - while that may exist, east haledon as a town certainly does not. /nit btw, tonight's episode had a lot of elements that make the sopranos great - i was just upset that they had to come up with such a contrivance to get those things out there. |
Re: Sopranos May 13 Spoilers
This was one of the best episodes of TV ever. The first 10 minutes were stunning television. This is the Sopranos, you can't just look at the surface. Did Tony kill Chrissy because he was going to fail the drug test, or because he was in such bad shape he knew he was going to die anyway and made it quicker? ...and... When Tony looked in the backseat and looked at the kids seat, and still followed through... cold. I mean seriously, are you that shallow? Despite all of Tony's declarations that Chrissy is like a son, when Chrissy stops producing and starts to be a problem again, he becomes expendable, so he kills him. It's just that simple for Tony. And looking at the carseat in the backseat provided an easy way for Tony to rationalize Chrissy's murder -- as if he is doing it to save the kid from Chris. i feel like tony's need to get rid of christopher and the impossibility of doing so would've made for some great tension through the rest of the series. There was no need for Tony to get rid of Chris. But it was expedient, and it was easy. Tony will do anything to serve his own needs, damn the consequences. Even before the crash, Tony sees that Chris just doesn't have it anymore. Also, Chris' music choices (Comfortably Numb, Departed soundtrack), attitude, and line about calling him a taxi are all subconscious ways of telling Tony he's ready to go. Couple other things: -- Chris drowned in his own blood, both literally and metaphorically. -- Chris saw a beacon of light, just like Tony did when he was in the coma. You don't see it from his perspective, but the headlights from a car sweep across the screen as Chris is dying. -- Tony thinks his good luck at the roulette table is based on Chris' demise. What an awesome show. |

I thought it was a great episode, this half of the season has been incredible, back in the season1-3 form
|
Re: Sopranos May 13 Spoilers
This is one of the best soprano's episodes ever without a doubt
Tony kills christopher and immediately becomes a luckbox gambler, althought i'm sure his luck is going to immediately turn for the worse |
