Ideas for tattoos you want to get?
 

I have a few:

1) My grandmother has a few weeks to live. She has kidney failure and declined dialysis because she also has leukemia. I wanted to get a tattoo dedicated to her because she is the first relative I've really loved to pass away when I'm old enough to know what's going on. We're really close and it is going to suck hard.

Anyways, the idea: There is a metal band called Zao who heavily influenced me when I was a teenager. Anyways, they have a song called "To Think Of You Is To Treasure An Absent Memory". The singer wrote it about a loved one he lost. The lyrics that would go on the tattoo would be "My heart broke open." I'm not sure what the picture would be. Back of left calf would be where it goes. If anyone has a cool suggestion for a picture to go with the lyrics, that would be cool.

2) I'm definitely getting a dedication to my father. It will also be a dedication to Hemingway, my favorite writer. I found the line "He taught the boy to fish and the boy loved him" in Old Man and the Sea, so I figured that works because his #1 passion in life is fishing. I think this one will go on my left forearm and will be the man in his skiff looking off into the sunset with the line from the book above and below the scene, written in fishing line.

3) Straight edge tattoo! I've had this drawn up already and it looks awesome. Actually, it was drawn about two years ago but I figured I'd wait until I had more life experience to decide whether or not I should commit myself. Of course, I've spent the last year traveling around the world with boozehounds and have never had a second thought about drinking or smoking, so voila. It is a cartooney knight holding a shield with 3 x's on it (for straight edge, not p0rn). Banner above "stand", banner below "strong". Lyrics from a hardcore song.

Phew, that took a while to type.

Do you all have ideas for tattoos you want? Any suggestions for me?

ive always wanted to get a tattoo on my shoulder that was a monkey with a parrot perched on its sholder. It would be hard to draw on there that small and detailed but i really like monkeys and parrots and think it would be a cool tattoo to have.

Here are the 2 tattoos I just got last week. The top one I've had for 7 1/2 years now, I just got it redone because it faded a bit. I liked the bottom tattoo b/c it compliments the sun I have there nicely.

Duno if I'd get this as a tat, but I'd like to have it done as a work of art or something:

Dark-haired, incredibly sexy woman. She'd be dressed in tight black satin (must have long sleeves however). Nothing as blatant as horns or tail, but it should be obvious upon looking at her that she's evil as well as desirable.

She's giving you a close-lipped smile (or smirk) and has her right hand extended to you, with a drink (in a martini or other easily recognizable booze glass) in it, but her right hand is just bones.

Underneath the artwork is her name, in cursive: Ethyl.

Looking at the tat....left half is an angel, the right side is a demon. I've seen some like this before but they're usually just the face. I want mine to be the whole body. Maybe on my back, about 10in x 3.5-4in.

Obviously funeral homes are more lucrative overall than tattoo removal services. But does anyone else wonder if removals are going to undergo the same sort of explosion as funeral homes did when the baby boomers started dying off?

Obviously there are differences, like the one being an inevitability and the other being a pretty minor expense, but I just picture these thousands of 18-year olds all getting barbed wire tattoos around their bicep and then looking in the mirror at age 50 and thinking, "[censored], what a bad idea."

I don't know why so many youths want to handicap themselves for the labor market. I obviously don't have a problem with it though.

Don't get a straight edge tattoo. I have yet to see anyone who has not had theirs covered up by age 25.

I have my name and my son's name in kanji on my shoulder. My son's name is the same as my grandfather, and the two characters in their name are the same as the two in mine, but in reverse order. kind of like:

lol yes mostly. It's not immediately apparent when you look at me though, which is partially why I want it. I'm proud of being part asian, and even though I'm culturally very north american, my asian roots are a big part of me.
