Can you fold QQ pre-flop?

There are 1000 people left in a $215 tourny. 700 get paid ($315 is
700th, $160,000 is 1st).

You've got 10,000 in chips, the BB is 600.

Dealt red queens in late position.

UTG (9000 chips) min raises to 1,200.

Mid Position (MP) bigstack (20,000 chips) re-raises to 2,400.

Fold to you. There is still the Cut-off, Button and blinds yet to play
behind you. You were just moved to the table and have no reads on the
opposition.

What is the best play here?

I can't fold QQ this short without a solid read that the re-raiser will only do this with KK+.

I folded QQ once pf to a 3way all in before any action got to me.

The 3 players had JJ, AK, and another AK

There's a UTG min raise and another minimum raise. I think one of these fools is holding AA/KK quite a high % of the time.

The answer to the question is "yes," you can fold QQ preflop in some situations. This certainly isn't one of them. Push.

Re: Can you fold QQ pre-flop?

depends on your goal. If you really need $315 then fold, if you are playing to win and don't mind busting out close to the money then I'd push. One of them could very well have AA,KK but they could both have AK also...Calling is not an option here. If you were first to act after the flop then you could consider a stop and go here. But its going to be tough to pull the trigger if an A hits the flop.

If you are folding this because you really need $315, what was your goal in entering the tourney anyways?

Its all about the payout structure.
Instant push !

Re: Can you fold QQ pre-flop?

Too good a hand, being close to the bubble when some players become cautious about being eliminated, and having a shortish stack are all reasons why, I would go all in here.

I am also interested to know whether any of the posters here could confirm whether going all in in this hand, would be a good example of a squeeze play ?

WTF would he be playing a $215 mtt for if he really needed $315?

PS. you're too short to fold, push, playing scared gets you no-where but blinded out.

Re: Can you fold QQ pre-flop?

Push it, you will need to double up soon when blinds increase and you might not get a chance as good as this to get your money in. UTG will fold unless he has AA/KK and MP can be on AKs or JJ and you want a call from those hands
