Scoring for this week

One person chose a bottom 2 of Chris/Phil.

Do I get points for correctly choosing the bottom 4?

Umm...we don't know who the bottom 4 were. We only know the bottom 2. So how could you get points for the bottom 4? Furthermore, the contest indicates that you select the bottom 3, so why you even picked the bottom 4 to begin with is beyond me.

I think it was pretty clear via the verbage on the show that the bottom four did not include Melinda/Jordin.

I picked the bottom 4 because I (correctly) surmised that the groups would be separated that way.

Grifter,

I'm not trying to be a dick, but at no point on the show last night did they say bottom 3 or 4 or anything. The groupings were arbitrary - the only certainty given last night's presentation is that Phil and Chris were the B2. It wasn't even implied that Melinda and Jordin were the top 2 even though many of us would expect that that is the case.

I don't think there is currently a contest to pick B4 without the correct ones going home. But you're welcome to start one.

Edge34 and suzy8922 picked Chris and Phil correctly to go home. Too many people picked Lakisha. So do they go to a tiebreaker for the weekly, GrannyMae?

If there was any solid indication who else was B3 or B4, that info would be most useful.

no bet last week. contest was not structured properly, and enough info not given.

also, please come up with a new contest for next few weeks guys. there are not enough combinations out there to make it interesting under old format.

How about picking order of elimination for the final 4. There seems to be a decent amount of disagreement regarding who will comprise the final 2 (although everyone seems to think Melinda will make it).

Re: Scoring for this week

yes lets pick the order for the rest of the way, but they cant be worth 1 point each or the competition is over, each week worth 5 points

so our picks would look like
Jordin
Melinda
Blake
Winner: Lakisha

Re: Scoring for this week

OK so we will be picking the final four in order. We just need to make a final decision on scoring. Is 5 points for each pick fair? To me that seems a bit high. Or should we do 2 points for each elim and an extra two for picking the winner since we had 2 points for eliminations before?

It should be two points a week with a bonus for getting them all right or something, as well as a bonus for picking the winner. Picking the elim order is the only fair way to do it I think.

GoRedBirds 05-04-2007 09:22 AM

Re: Scoring for this week

The winner should be worth more. How bout 2 points for each top three remaining correct, 4 points for each top two, and 8 or something for the winner. Some variation on that? I don't really care, but I think each week should be worth more than the previous week.

So if I have Lakisha gone next week but Melinda goes, I still get points for Blake and Jordin (4 total). Soflat and Grannie, when you guys figure it out/decide will you make an official thread? Thanks.

i pictured this as needing to go perfect the last 3 weeks, then resorting to the old tie-breaker rules for the ultimate winner. i.e. no more weekly contest.

what am i missing?

We need some sort of point system to add to the current standings for the season prize.

So the way I understood it is you pick the order of elim now, which will be your final picks for the season. Then if you get all correct you pick up 8 points (2 for each elim plus 2 for having the winner. If you get the first two correct only then you get 4 points added to your season score. Is that good?

I don't see any need to go perfect unless there is a 'weekly' prize (for getting the order correct).

Re: Scoring for this week

The season winner is based on the average points per week right(6 week minimum)? The reason I ask is because when I see the season results posted it shows the weekly point results for each player plus their total points for the season. The relevant number though is to take the season point total and divide it by the number of weeks each individual has participated. That is what will show who is actually winning. So someone with less points can be beat someone with more points. Of course each individual can do their own division. Soflat does a great job of posting all the totals already but I just wanted to verify that the average determines the season winner.

Best value at WSEX atm. I grabbed some of this myself. I would be stunned to see B get booted next week for a f-f-f top 3, which means at worst you should be able to buy the other side at even money in a week or two and freeroll at 2.2-1. BOL!

I think there should be a split prize for the overall winner as well as the percentage winner. I've been on top of the point standings pretty much since the top 12 started and I would feel a little cheated if I ended up with the highest point total and got nothing out of it. Not saying it is going to happen (me winning) but that's how I feel, not to mention that those are the rules we started out with. At the same time, Grannie's idea was a good way to get other participants involved in the game, so they should get something as well.

To be fair about it, I will post my picks now, allowing people behind me to choose differently.

4th Lakisha
3rd Jordin
2nd Blake
1st Melinda

I so badly want to put Blake as the winner because I think he NEEDS the win more than Melinda, who will have a career no matter when she goes out. However, I feel like more people love Melinda and once Jordin goes all her votes will go to Melinda so I am going with the conservative route.

I think yesterday or the day before it was +330 which is an incredible bet. I am loaded up on Jordin versus Blake. I did it back when it was even money. I also did it at -120 and -130. I meant to do some take back on Blake at 330 and I completely forgot about it. Thanks for pointing out the line. I just hit it a few times on Blake. Now I am locked in to win whoever wins. I didn't make todays bets on Blake as a hedge or to lock in a profit. I did it because +290 on Blake vs Jordin is a great bet. I started out taking 310, then 300, and then 290. It's 270 now. Anyway thanks Suzy for reminding me. [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
