Craps...greatest game ever?
 

After my awesome 5K win at the craps tables yesterday, I realized craps may be the greatest game ever.

Pros:

-Craps is definitely a sport.

-Craps is @ 90% skill.

-You can bet on anything on the board. ANYTHING.

-Craps players never lie about their losses. In fact, they
brag about them.

-Craps just plain rules and should be an olympic event.


Cons:

-None.

One other important point: Craps players are mammals

I heard there was this one craps player in a casino onetime who was standing next to the shooter and the guy drops one of his dice and the craps player flipped out and killed everyone in the casino.

Craps players are awesome.

People who don't love craps fall into one or more of three categories:

1) They are too young to have been inside a casino and simply don't know any better.

Without precision shooting your game is going nowhere. Good craps players can shoot a seven at will.

Craps is the greatest game ever. My last three trips to the Borg I've taken them for $2k+ each time at the green chip tables.

There really is no downside. You can get totally drunk, take out a $10k marker and wing the dice down the table as hard as you can, cackling while they pay off all your hardways and bought numbers on top of winning field bets and back-ups.

Cons:
Once at the Hard Rock my buddy [a craps virgin] was forced to play by us [because he's a craps virgin, they always win] and he was soooo nervous his first shot he chucked 'em down the table at warp 9, of course they bounce up and nail someone in the eye.

Craps is the first thing on my resume listed next to Hobbies:, even before Poker.

My boss is worth $1bn and he still plays craps.

And, of course, it's totally +EV once you learn how to roll properly.

My typical morning after from a craps session is similiar in almost every regard to a morning after a karoake session. Tons of wincing, a lot of "Jesus's", "What time did we leave anyway?", splitting headache and looking for a 99cent breakfast. Oh yea, except after craps I dont have to worry about that cumbersome bundle of money to have to carry around the rest of the weekend. EV+

are you commenting on the fact that you hate there being strategy thrown around in this forum? because thats absolutely ridiculous. when i open up a thread for amusement and find a player do something i think was a mistake that is a learning opportunity for one of us and im certainly not going to pass that up just because the forum name is BBV. grow up pls

You can actually play against the shooter hitting. So if your buddy is running bad, you can rub it in his face and get sick rich off of his misery!!! Craps rules!

True story, took place at Sands week it closed for business.

I am at craps table early Fri am, this old guy is there just burning through stacks of red. Finally, he's down to his last $5 chip.

He tosses it on 'yo', 11, at 15-1 odds, of course. Loving a good -EV bet at the craps table, I do the same.

He shouts out 50/50 tip for the dealers. So do I, as this guy is clearly a pro at going busto, and I got at least $50 left in front of me in reds.

The new shooter throws an 11. Winner-winner pay the line pay the line. I cheer and take down my winnings. Now he and the dealers will split $75.

'Press it!' he yells. The boxman thinks for a minute, and says, 'we'll press ours too.'

Shooter throws another 11. Winner! Pay the line!!

Now the shooter and dealers are splitting $1125.

Dealers take $560 down, attempt to pay the old man his $565.

"Press it!" he yells out like the degenerate gambler he so truly is. I was totally awestruck. The whole table is watching him, speechless. I throw $5 back on yo-leven at this point. [I'm slow, but I'm not stupid.]

Now everyone is staring at the shooter again.

It should be obvious what happens next.

The shooter rears back and chucks his third 11 in a row. I get $75, the old man finally takes down his $8475 or whatever, and walks into the sunrise with his stack of orange and purple chips. I hope he went to Cheetah's, or at least Lil' Darlings.

I think he even left $75 behind as a final 50/50 on yo for the dealers. It didn't hit this time, needless to say.

Do you see why??

I forget what it is exactly, but there's some exception to the don't pass rule where you don't get paid when you should. Perhaps on a 2 or 12...
