Major Party Upgrade - Official Q&A thread. (#4 of 5.)

The third Q&A thread is becoming cumbersome, so please add your new questions, answers and comments to this fourth thread, if possible.

Mike O'Malley and other Party Executives will be monitoring the threads and will supply pertinent information as required.

Of course, this depends on the tone of the threads. If you ask reasonable questions and give reasonable criticisms, they will enter the threads more often. If there is name-calling and abuse, they'll stay out of them. It's up to you. Jim and I will be quite aggressive with editing and deleting posts to try to keep the threads as useful as possible for all of us.

Thank you for your support in this aim. It is much appreciated.

Party Rep,

I don't know if this has been said before, but sometimes the waiting lists continue to display on the table after I have already sat down.

Also, the buttons work much better now. Thanks!

Party,

Excellent job on being able to resize tables. Will it be possible to have a "default size" set (in pixels preferably) so that you don't have to resize every table as it opens?

Also, as previously mentioned,
-please make it an option to turn off your account balance from displaying in the lobby
-please fix the account popup to use your default browser and default settings instead of full-screen-IE

Thank you for the assistance. Great work.

1) Does the text only stay when you resize? If so, this is identified and will be fixed.

2) That's good to hear.

i dont know if this happened before, but i use the four color deck and whenever the blue diamonds or the green clubs come out i can see the color of the regular diamonds and clubs and it switches immediately. just something i didnt notice before.

Yes, it looks like it's only upon resizing. Good to hear it'll be fixed, thanks!

Party Poker:
Overall, I must say very well done. However, my only complaint is regarding observed hand histories not being written to the hard drive. Before you stated that hand histories were intended for only players at the table. I must say that there is certainly a positive correlation between players that import observed hand histories and also your best customers. I believe removing this option will strike a nerve with many of your loyal customers. It seems the only reason to do this was to prevent an edge to certain players and attempt to level the playing field. Please comment on any reasons Party Poker had regarding this issue.

Fuji, just go into the images folder and change the names of the 4 color cards from 2db to 2d, and 2cg to 2c (you'll have to either delete or change the name of the original 2d and 2c images first). Then turn off 4 color deck and you should be fine.

Thanks for the "HIDE BLACKJACK" option. Is there also a "HIDE SIDEBET" option?

Is anyone else having problems with the buttons? The pre-action buttons work fine but sometimes i have to click the others about 5 times. I really don't like it at all. I haven't tried modding the graphics yet. I hope this is possible. I'm really not sure what good any of the updates are but maybe others like them.

As a high volume customer I am very happy Party has made this change, and I'm sure there are others. This will benefit skilled players and harm the 8 tabling leeches who make the games tighter and less enjoyable for all.

Party Guy,
My only response to any of these threads.

PLEASE have an option to turn off the balance display on the main screen!!!

I intentionally avoid checking my balance and this makes that impossible.

What is the reasoning behind increasing rake in rebuy tournaments.

Empire did the same thing, and it killed their rebuy tourneys.

Thanks to all for answering this.

Can't wait to get home and check this thing out!

(Though I still wish we could contact Party and tell them we don't even want our account to even have the ability to play Blackjack)

Say whatever you want about my self control I know at least two players who have left Party completely because they couldn't avoid tilt related blackjack episodes.

For me it's just when I drink

And now the "pros" who play 30k hands a week or whatever will have a huge table selection advantage over people like me who play recreationally on the weekends and such. I used to be able to make up the difference by mining a few hours a day to give a comparable dataset to work with. Now I have to fly blind while the pros have stats on everyone. Thanks for screwing over the little guy Party!

Hey Mike, I appreciate why your making new threads but its becoming very difficult to figure out whats going on.

I'd be very gratefull if you (or another hapless volunteer) could put a short summary of current issues everytime you start one of these threads.

Thanks

Should this be impressive? Any long term winning player knows that table selection is huge. Nothing good is coming from the removal of observed hand histories. The players that do benefit from this likely don't even know the difference.

Dear Party,

Next time you do an upgrade, please make fewer changes. Whether they're good or not, you're grinding 2+2 to a halt by generating all this discussion.

P.S. I also would like to know how to get rid of the sidebet thing.

I still have to press action buttons multiple times before anything happens.

And I'd also love to see a "hide sidebet" feature, much like the "hide blackjack" feature.

Re: Major Party Upgrade - Official Q&A thread. (#4 of 4.)

For all those whining about the update-

Of course whenever something changes there will be problems that needs to be fixed and questions that needs to be answered. And of course it will take some time for the majority of players to get used to all the features. But I think in time the update will be much for the positive, I think the skin looks much better now and it's easier to find the games, the account page has a much better overview and there are plenty of good features such as table-resizing and more SnG's. The tournament chip/blind changes also seem positive, at least for those who don't want them to be crapshots.

So when all this buzz is over, the bugs and complaints are taken care of, I'm sure most of us would never think about going back to the old client.

Take a minute to think about that before throwing any more dirt directed at PartyPoker.

Question: WTF is up w/ seat reservations still not working?

I'm on the wait list. It says table ready. I click; go to table, and there is no space for me, but there is a seat with the red reserved sign on it. I close window, try again, when table ready pops up... no. I click "let me think" then try again... no.

Upgrade? WTF... SAMEgrade... Games: A. Software: D-

[edit] ok ok re-read post a little negat. but it's always annoyed me.

Honestly I like that you can see the cashier, but I hate that it doesn't add up money at table plus in account for you anymore.

Honestly: Software C+! (From D-) (And thumbs up for effort)

[/ QUOTE ]I'm not sure where I stand on the issue you're debating, but that's an incredibly silly thing to put at the end of your post. First of all, that's not very many hands. Second of all, unless it's very high limit it's a tiny tiny amount of rake.

[/ QUOTE ]I will also second this. Before, one could argue that some sites had better features than Party Poker. Now it seems that Party Poker is enevitably taking control of the market share at an enormous rate. Hands down to them, period. However, there are some problems I feel need to be addressed and I am hoping to hear some reasoning regarding such topics as observed hand histories.
