Check out THIS Full Tilt \"feature\" - I\'m outta there
So I wanted to transfer a bunch of $$ to a friend. No problem.
UNTIL I make a typo in the guys alias in the transfer process. The money gets sent to the wrong person. Problem is - they know of the problem but say they will not undue the mistake. If the other guy wants to keep the money he can and I'm out of luck! Granted - "I" made the mistake and notified them right away (you only have to enter the name, nothing more) - they basically said "To bad, so sad" move along! My feeling is that this is total BS with their software with not checks or buttons way ARE YOU SURE?? WOW! |
Re: Check out THIS Full Tilt \"feature\" - I\'m outta there
wow thats fed up man, just another reason ftp can suck on my balls
|
Re: Check out THIS Full Tilt \"feature\" - I\'m outta there
Another problem is the guy I transfered money to probably has not played FT for 4 years. The average player only lasts 6 months.
I am stunned they would be so anti customer. |
Re: Check out THIS Full Tilt \"feature\" - I\'m outta there
Don't you see the city of the person you are transfering to? That is how i make sure the transfer is always to the right person.
|
Re: Check out THIS Full Tilt \"feature\" - I\'m outta there
Could you post the e-mail exchange? That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.

[/ QUOTE ] at stars they give you the city name and ask if you are sure. at UB they match the first name and kick it back if you get the screename incorrect with the first name, at FTP they send the money instantly so long as there is a valid screename. I transferred money mistakenly by one "l" or something one time, you are SOL. |
Re: Check out THIS Full Tilt \"feature\" - I\'m outta there
that is so completely bizarre.
just such a weird policy. I guess they don't want people to be able to have any way of taking it back once they do a transfer because then you could more easily scam someone. But c'mon...the name is close to the name they were intending to send to. Pretty easy to see it's likely no kind of scam and just an honest mistake. |
Re: Check out THIS Full Tilt \"feature\" - I\'m outta there
No - all there is is a box and you fill in the alias - click the button and that is it. His alias is a common name spelled wrong - thus - the mistake! Like Gwendel and Gwendal
Hello XXXX, Thank you for contacting Full Tilt Poker Support with your player to player transfer error. While I understand that you have made a mistake in entering the recipient for your player transfer, please be aware that the responsibility is on the sender to ensure that all necessary information is entered correctly. That being said, we will contact the player on your behalf and request that they transfer the funds back to you. Please understand that if said player chooses not to comply to our request, they cannot be forced to return the funds and Full Tilt Poker cannot be held liable nor are we able to replace those funds. We thank you for your understanding and hope that the player chooses to comply with your request. UNDERSTANDING MY butt! "all necessary information" all it is is the name nothing else! |
Re: Check out THIS Full Tilt \"feature\" - I\'m outta there
FWIW, they do contact the person who received a transfer wrongly. I received one incorrectly about two months ago and sent it back, pretty decent amount, mid four figures and they sent this:
Hello Jon, Thank you for playing on Full Tilt Poker. We hope you enjoy your stay. It has come to our attention that a player transfer of $4100, transaction #xxxxxxxxx, was mistakenly initiated to your account by the sender, " xxxxxxxxxx ". On behalf of "xxxxxxxxx ", we would like to request that you initiate a transfer back to the sender at your earliest convenience. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation Jon, and best of luck at the tables! Regards, Kenny Full Tilt Poker Support |
Re: Check out THIS Full Tilt \"feature\" - I\'m outta there
they really need a confirmation button, that crap is stupid.
I like UB's way of doing it.. you need the first name as well, there's no way you can get it wrong. |
Re: Check out THIS Full Tilt \"feature\" - I\'m outta there
Uhh.. how else would you expect FTP to handle this? If they simply reversed this transaction if the "mistyped" player disagrees, FTP would become a haven for trade scamming.
You send me $X on Stars, I send you $X on FTP, then I write FTP and say it was a typo, they refund my money - you get hosed. They know nothing of our agreement or any transfers on Stars. This is a much worse situation than what's happened to you. You made a pretty serious error, and the other person involved (who has not made any errors) gets to decide to do the right thing or not. No real other way this could work between strangers on a "corporate policy" type level. I do think FTP should have more security with regards to transfers, possibly an e-mail confirmation requirement (ie: I try and send you money, it makes me respond to an automated e-mail to confirm). Also, just making you enter the full name of the recipient would basically eliminate these kinda situations. At the very minimum, a confirmation screen within the client. |

1 month later the person he tranferred it to will cheat or chip-dump with that monney and Webster will have the rest of his funds frozen and then confiscated because he was 'associated' with him.

Learn to type better and check for mistakes? [/ QUOTE ] Ug, yes OP is responsible for this, but FT should carry some of the blame. 5 minutes is an exaggeration, 1.5 man hours, including QA, adding info to release notes, etc is probably about how long a confirm window would take to add. If people are really on the ball it should take a bit less as this is trivial. Seems like the other major sites either already have it, require real name, etc -- there is a reason for this. A confirm step could very well avert some of these problems and is totaly standard. FT needs to step up. Given the problems they are currently experiencing, the time is probably better spent on other issues but this should have been there in the beginning. Someone dropped the ball. |
Re: Check out THIS Full Tilt \"feature\" - I\'m outta there
It's true that they should not allow you to undo a transfer, as scams would be so easy then. But what would be an easily implemented, but great feature would be to have an extra field of two (maybe first/last name on top of SN), and a confirmation.

[/ QUOTE ] they don't have to give the money back to him. they can just transfer it to the person it was supposed to go to and then freeze it for a bit. Send a note to the person who the funds were sent to first and explain to them what happened. If that person complains that the funds really WERE meant for them then FT can investigate and go from there. Otherwise, it would be pretty silly to set up an account with a similar name to someone else just to try to scam that person. Not very realistic. And not very difficult to thwart either. It doesn't have to be that hard. He made a damn mistake and sent it to the wrong person. FT doesn't even seem to contest the legitamacy of his claim. So why depend on the trust of someone else who may not even look at his own account anymore and may not even have that e-mail address anymore (seriously, if he zeroed out his account 2 yrs earlier he might not even use that e-mail and never know that he has funds)? Just send it to the correct party. Another method would be to send the person ho received the funds an e-mail and explain that they believe they weren't intended for him. If this is incorrect and they really WERE intended for him then he has two weeks to respond...otherwise they will be sent over to the intended person with the similar name. There's no way FTP needs to be so stubborn about this and claim that it's impossible to fix or reverse. |
Re: Check out THIS Full Tilt \"feature\" - I\'m outta there
Bob, what should FTP do if the player who received the funds "incorrectly" claims that the transfer was legit?
Now FTP becomes the judge?? |
Re: Check out THIS Full Tilt \"feature\" - I\'m outta there
Stars has a similar policy, do they not? There is an extra screen to click on that shows the players city, but they won't help if you transfer to the wrong player.
|
Re: Check out THIS Full Tilt \"feature\" - I\'m outta there
Just hope the recipient isn't dead. Sounds stupid but if he is that money will never be returned since I'm pretty sure they don't have good wifi signal in caskets to reply to the email.

Re: Check out THIS Full Tilt \"feature\" - I\'m outta there
I did the exact same thing a month ago. I wasn't terribly careful because I guess I'm used to getting confirmation prompts. Luckily the guy I accidentally sent to was deemed ineligible to receive it for some reason.
This is the email they sent me: Thank you for contacting Full Tilt Poker Support. I can confirm that this transfer did not successfully go through and the funds have transferred back into your Full Tilt Poker account. While I understand that you have made a mistake in entering the recipient for your player transfer, please be aware that the responsibility is on the sender to ensure that all necessary information is entered correctly. In the future, please ensure you are sending the funds to the correct player, as we may not be able to stop the transaction. This would leave the only option to get the funds back; simply contacting the player on your behalf and request that they transfer the funds back to you. Please understand that if said player chooses not to comply to our request, they cannot be forced to return the funds and Full Tilt Poker cannot be held liable nor are we able to replace those funds. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter, xxxxxx. Your play on Full Tilt Poker is appreciated. If you need anything else, please feel free to contact us anytime. Sincerely, Tyler Full Tilt Poker Support |
Re: Check out THIS Full Tilt \"feature\" - I\'m outta there
I keep trying to get myself over to FullTilt for rakeback...But after here all the bullshittt that goes on over there i think ill just stay at stars...This is absolutely crazy..Mark my words the downfall of online poker will not be in the laws or the boom givin out .. It will be these dumb ass sites that dont know how to do business that will drive everyone away except the die hards.... That will be fun???
|
Re: Check out THIS Full Tilt \"feature\" - I\'m outta there
dude its your fault. How can you not double check the sender's name before sending money? I dont understand why people need multiple prompts before understanding who to send it to. Learn from your mistake and move on
|
Re: Check out THIS Full Tilt \"feature\" - I\'m outta there
Why should FT go through all the trouble to determain if the transfer was legit or not? They did not make the mistake of entering the wrong username.. It's ridick that a player made a mistake and it's FT's fault that they won't do anything about it? I agree they might need to add a confirmation option, but use common sense people and take two seconds to double check you did not make a typo.
Own up to your own mistakes and stop blaming someone else. |
Re: Check out THIS Full Tilt \"feature\" - I\'m outta there
Another possible feature that FT could impliment would be to have a part of the trasfer with a confirmation on the end of the receiver.
Ie. You have recieved a money transfer of x. To confirm the transfer please type in the screen name of the individual transferring this money to you. Most people know up front who and how much they are getting well in advance of a money transfer. However, if it were transferred by accident, there would be no way to steal someones money since you would have to guess who sent it. Greg |

dude its your fault. How can you not double check the sender's name before sending money? [/ QUOTE ] Hey - I'm told what the name is and I ASSUME it's spelled correctly. IF somebody told you to send money to "baseball" would you ask how it's spelled? When it is really spelled bazeball ? Yea- I'm to blame - I will admit it but there needs to be OTHER means to get money back. Instead of ignoring a real problem. |

Bob, what should FTP do if the player who received the funds "incorrectly" claims that the transfer was legit? Now FTP becomes the judge?? [/ QUOTE ] I'll answer how I think it should be handled under Bob's plan... If receiving player claims he should have received the money (within the 2 weeks), he maintains control of the money. This is consistent with their existing policy that the person receiving the mistaken is not obligated to return the money. If the player receiving the money claims it is rightfully his, it stays in his account and becomes an issue between the two players. FT does not have an obligation to do anything more, which is consistent with their existing policy except it avoids situations like this one where the player receiving the funds may not even know he has them. I like Bob's suggestion. |
Re: Check out THIS Full Tilt \"feature\" - I\'m outta there
I agree something needs to be changed with their transfer system. Even a first name or city would be nice. I also agree that them doing nothing when you mistakenly transfered to an unused account is a very bad move on FTs part. I don't blame you for never playing there again.

Re: Check out THIS Full Tilt \"feature\" - I\'m outta there
Banking stuff can be like this. I once went to make a E payment to my Visa from my bank account but by mistake I clicked the wrong visa on my drop down menu at the banks online site. I called the bank within minutes but they were unable to revesre the payment. I had to write the credit company and they mailed a cheque back to me, tokk about 10 days.
Your problem on Fulltilt is a hard one. They could go ahead and transfer the money back and the user who got the money could complain you guys had a outside agreement and demand the money back. Hate to say it, not fulltilts problem really, wait to see if the player sends it back. |
Re: Check out THIS Full Tilt \"feature\" - I\'m outta there
Transfers should work both ways like buying and selling T$s on Poker Stars.
I put in that I want to send $1k to joepokerguy123 and joepokerguy123 has to put in that he expects to receive $1k from NoahSD. |
