Commom Spot, Standard Push?
Down to final 2 tables and 16 players left.
Blinds 1k/2k 200 ante Stack Sizes Hero 40K Villain 80K and chip leader Villain just moved to my table when we condensed so no reads. Folded to Villain in SB who pots it to 7,200...Hero has A/8 and pushes???? Anyone do anything else differently here? Any merit in calling preflop? |
Re: Commom Spot, Standard Push?
FOLD
Why do you want to push here? Your M is 8, which is not nearly low enough to start panicking. Calling is bad too, even though you have position. A8 is a very weak hand - why do you want to get involved with the overall chipleader with it? Fold and move on. |
Re: Commom Spot, Standard Push?
Its definitely a push/fold situation here. Calling is awful. Ax is one of the worst hands to try and play post flop.
Readless A/To is probably a push, maybe A/9s. I think you are getting kinda borderline with A/8. I don't think its a bad spot to fold. You'll have position on the chip leader for the most part in the future. |
Re: Commom Spot, Standard Push?
his range from the sb is very wide. I like the push
|
Re: Commom Spot, Standard Push?
The size of the raise makes me suspicious (3.6x BB), especially from a readless villian.

Re: Commom Spot, Standard Push?
fold

Re: Commom Spot, Standard Push?
This is a fold, you can definitely find a better spot

Re: Commom Spot, Standard Push?
standard push

Re: Commom Spot, Standard Push?
Should be an easy fold here.
|
Re: Commom Spot, Standard Push?
easy fold for me... Blinds don't kill you yet
|
Re: Commom Spot, Standard Push?
So, has any of you guys ever heard of a resteal?
OP, buy-in? I'd be way more inclined to do this at higher buy-ins, especially if villain has played a lot of them (check at pokerdb/OPR). |
Re: Commom Spot, Standard Push?
The fact that most of you guys suggest folding with a hand like A8 makes this a very good stealing spot for the SB though. As stated in previous post I think buy-in and skill of the SB are very important here.

Re: Commom Spot, Standard Push?
I would fold it, no time to panic ye

Re: Commom Spot, Standard Push?
I would fold this.
some players overestimates resteals far too much |

I would fold this. some players overestimates resteals far too much [/ QUOTE ] Against you, I'd push any two since you evidently fold AK |
Re: Commom Spot, Standard Push?
Soulman,
What is your pushing range here? |

Soulman, What is your pushing range here? [/ QUOTE ] Hard to tell really. I don't love to resteal with no reads. I probably wouldn't push much wider than A8o+,KQ,JTs+,55+ or so here. With solid reads, this can obviously be much wider (or tighter, if raiser is a rock). |
Re: Commom Spot, Standard Push?
Okay well I don't think we're really disagreeing in general then. In this hand hero has A8, which is admittedly borderline.

Re: Commom Spot, Standard Push?
This should be a really no brainer push unless sb is a huge nit. With no info on him except he's chip leader, this is an easy shove. People who think this is a fold, do some stoving of ranges etc.

Re: Commom Spot, Standard Push?
Its a fold for me without reads. With reads I do this WATC.
However you have no reads here so I wait for a better spot to be honest |

People who think this is a fold, do some stoving of ranges etc. Steve [/ QUOTE ] I agree with steve. I'll often re-steal against a player with my only read that he is the chipleader. However, I do think this is buy-in dependent. Re-steals aren't quite as effective in micros as players don't steal quite as much. Lastly, I'd almost prefer a hand that did better when called. Meaning, when you get called here, A8 probably isn't in very good shape. 98 is probably in better shape against Big Stack's calling range. But, you don't get to choose your hands. I could understand a fold here though given that OP has little info on the villain and a hand that doesn't play well when called. However, I think in the long run, shoving in these spots is +cEV. |
