If you were the top recruit, where would you go?

If you were the top college recruit for the 4 major sports, what school would you go to and why?
My picks:

Football: USC: Best exposure, and get to live in Southern California
Basketball: UCLA: Great tradition, and I hate Duke/UNC
Baseball: Rice: Awesome program, awesome school.
Hockey: Maine: Hockey and lobster, together at last...

lord no. Harvard, a solid program where you can get a top degree. or BC, which is a good school and is a lot of fun. or Michigan, which is a combo of all of the above.

football: Michigan or possibly now Notre Dame. maybe Stanford a few years ago

basketball: tons of great choices here. UNC, Duke, UCLA would be 3 top choices.

Football: Anywhere but Notre Dame.

Football: depends greatly on what position I play and who certain schools already have at my position but choosing from:

USC, Texas, Oklahoma, LSU, Georgia, South Carolina (if I am a QB), Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Florida, Florida St., Miami, Michigan, Ohio St., Penn. St., & Notre Dame.

Basketball:Duke seems good enough, after all I am only going to class for one semester.

Baseball: I go pro

Hockey: where I am from this is no more a major college sport than those nappy headed hoes

That isn't an accurate assumption though. Say you're a QB, do you think you are likely to go to Texas and start over Colt McCoy as a true freshman or Florida and Tebow. Do you think Ryan Mallet, #2 pro style QB in country according to rivals.com, is going to start next year at Michigan over Chad Henne? Say you're a running back, you think you're coming in as a true freshman and starting instead of McPhadden at Arkansas.

I am well aware of this...I'm interested in where people would go based on the school, not on whether or not they would start right away. And since it's my post, I get to choose the rules .

So let me rephrase: If you were the greatest player in the world coming out of high school (and therefore would automatically start), and you had to go to college, which college would you choose for each major sport?

Meh, I went there, so I'm trying to be loyal.

Edit: You're right about the lack of hot chicks but wrong about the other 2. Duke players have done very well in the NBA when they didn't suffer catastrophic injuries, and K always encourages his players to leave when he thinks it's the right thing to do.

But I'd go to UCLA and bang hot chicks.

Would you agree that a kid should always leave when he's assured of being picked in the top five? Because K told Luol Deng he was making a huge mistake by leaving in 2004. And, IIRC, he told Elton Brand he wasn't ready in 1999.

Re: If you were the top recruit, where would you go?

The best Duke prospects haven't gone their for 4 years, but I'm pretty sure that's true everywhere else. There are hardly any great 4 year college guys in the NBA other than Tim Duncan and Steve Nash. I can't remember the last 4 year guy out of UNC who became an all-star. In the past, Duke had a LOT of 4 year guys, now that isn't the case. They've done really well lately in the NBA.

MVP Caliber:
Brand (2 years)

All-star
Boozer (3 years)

All-Star Caliber:
Deng (1 year)

V. Good Starter Caliber:
Maggette (I know he comes off the bench) (1 year)
Battier (4 years)
Hill (was MVP when fully healthy) (4 years)

Good Bench

Duhon (4 years)

Decent:

Dunleavy (3 years)
D. Jones (2 years Rut, 2 years Duke)
Shavlik (not sure but he's been better when healthy in the Pros then college)

Not sure of:
Ewing (4 I think)
Redick (4)
Sheldon (4)

This is better than UNC right now:

All-Star
Jamison 3 year
VC 3 year

Former All-Stars
Stack (3)
Sheed (3)

V Good Starter Caliber
Felton (needs to work on FG%) (3)
May (when healthy) (3)

Solid:

Brendan Haywood (4)

Getting Better but still underacheived:
Marvin (1)

Not sure about:

Noel (4)
McCants (3)

Re: If you were the top recruit, where would you go?

Football: Alabama bc sabans gonna bring us back to glory baby!!!!!!!!!!! Honestly, I'm torn between Florida/Texas. Both of these schools have hot women, huge national exposure and put guys in the nfl on O and D. I'd go Fla bc im an sec guy.

Basketball: Duke. I hate them but basketball is the #1 sport there, obv coach K, you'll get a ton of press and youre on national TV a helluva lot. And even if youre not that good you can still get to the nba bc of teammates (see daniel ewing).

Baseball: LSU. The school actually supports their baseball team. Gorgeous women. Did I mention beautiful women?

Hockey: lolz like i watch this [censored]. I hear BC is pretty good though.

No he didn't, he advised both Brand and Deng to go. He advised Maggette and Will Avery to stay.

K always followed the Dean Smith rule: advise your players to go pro if they'll be in the top 5, to stay otherwise.

On the flip side, try finding hot girls at University of Chicago. They don't exist.

There are two kinds of schools, hot-girl schools and smart-girl schools. Only a few schools are both. Usually at a smart-girl school you'll see a girl you think is hot, but it's an optical illusion created by the comparison to the other smart girls around her. If you ever saw her at an actual hot-girl school, you'd quickly realize your mistake.
