Stars, 275 players left from 2321, how do you play 99 here ?
Hello,
I was getting garbage hands but I managed to grow up my stack in 4.500 just stealing and re-stealing for the last 15 min., mainly with all-ins with first-in vigorish and picking up the right spots. When this hand arrived I wasn't sure about the best play, what do you think ? is an all-in totally foolish ? Thank you, Poker Stars No Limit Holdem Tournament Blinds: t300/t600 (Ante: t50) 9 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: t5005 Hero: t13256 MP1: t3995 MP2: t5180 MP3: t6019 CO: t12822 Button: t6345 SB: t17770 BB: t9180 Pre-flop: (9 players) Hero is UTG+1 with 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] UTG folds Hero... |

I'd just call and see what happens after you. You are the chip leader at the table so if short stack pushes you may want to call but no point risking a bunch of chips without seing the flop first.

I raise/call here vs every stack.

I think you can get away with a 2.5bb raise here and go from there. It lets the bigger stacks know you have a hand and gets you away cheap if the re-pop. It also lets the smaller stacks know you have a hand but will be pot committed to call any of their pushes. T1500 to go...

I raise/call here vs every stack. [/ QUOTE ] i like this. if you are gonna listen to ZJ, i think you should also take into consideration that they will have a looser range to push as they know you don't want to call them. unless you have a read on a couple of tighter players, call anyone but rocks |

meh, maybe yall are right, but i think it def. depends on reads on the big stack. If its a LAG 2+2er then im prolly calling, but if its a non-thinking player and/or average/tight player, then im mucking i think.

[/ QUOTE ] if that's true i'm raising less often. the raise really depends on how many people you are folding to. the more folding, the less likely i'm raising.. it's just throwing away chips. |

I raise/call here vs every stack. [/ QUOTE ] The range of a re-raise from an UTG+1 raise from a big stack should crush a hand like 99..AK and overpair only do that. |

You still have an M of about 10. What is the point in shoving all in here? You're only going to get called by a better hand or over cards. Especially since you've been very active lately too. If you have Aces or Kings and shove all in here, I like that play. But 99, that's just dumb, at least I think. I would probably open the pot up here for about 1500 or so (2.5-3x) If you make it 1500-2000 to go, then a MP player may end up moving all in for 3000-6000 and now you'd consider a call at this point, hoping your in a race situation.
