Can Canadians trust Neteller for withdrawing?

I'm Canadian. At this point, I don't trust Neteller at all. I know what happened to their American customers. Not sure I want to risk leaving anything with Neteller or even attempting a withdrawal from them. Should I wait till after apr 9 and request a bank wire or cheque from the merchant instead? Currently my Neteller account is 0. Merchants have a rule of deposit by Neteller means you have to withdraw by Neteller. I might have to wait till after Apr 9.

I don't trust Neteller at all after what they did to their American customers!

Re: Can Canadians trust Neteller for withdrawing?

I just attempted a Neteller withdrawal today of ~4000, since stars wouldn't let me withdraw by cheque what I had deposited in their site in the first place. I'll keep you posted as to how things go.

I did one of $250 no problem last week no problem, and have one $1000 pending. I'll post when it hits.

Re: Can Canadians trust Neteller for withdrawing?

yeah, I had one for 700 a month ago that cleared the next day. I'm pretty sure Neteller is ok for the time being for Canadians in terms of withdrawing.

Re: Can Canadians trust Neteller for withdrawing?

If you contact the merchant directly and explain you don't want to wait and why you don't want to use neteller they should let you cash out by other means.

I did a 2k withdrawal from Neteller yesterday afternoon and it hit my bank account just now.

The exchange rate sucks compared to Party though.

You should be okay, the Americans didn't receive their money because it was SEIZED by the DoJ, not because of impropriety on the part of Neteller.

Hey, if that's true, then it's good news indeed. I might try an EFT if other Canadians post that their EFTs went through since the announcement.

Just did a withdrawal from UB into neteller and it came through fine. Made the request to do EFT into my bank account, last time I did this (a couple of months ago) it only took a couple of days. Will post when it comes through.

I am an American, and just checked my Neteller account. It still has a balance of $10.80. This money has NOT been seized by the DOJ, Neteller has simply refused to allow me and countless others to withdraw their funds.

Depends how you define proof. There is this in NT's press release:

----------
Following upon the complaints dated 16 January 2007, banks in the US began declining to permit transactions involving the Group through accounts maintained at one or more automated clearinghouses in the United States. Additionally, the Group has been advised that the USAO has obtained court-ordered seizure warrants seizing funds pertaining to the Group’s transactions. To the best of the Group’s knowledge, it believes that the amount of funds seized by the USAO or otherwise restricted by third parties does not exceed US$ 55 million. These funds were largely in the process of being transferred from the Group to its US customers or vice versa.
----------

Yes, yes, I know, it comes from Neteller. However, I haven't heard the DOJ denying it, have you?

Other than that, I have no proof, no.

Don't get me wrong, if I was an American with a whack of cash tied up in NT, I'd be pretty pissed off. I think NT has handled the situation very badly, but I also think that the fact that Americans can not get their money is NOT NT's doing. Just my opinion, based on everything I've read.

I attempted to withdraw from Interpoker last night. This morning I received the usual email indicating that the transaction is in progress. I'll let you know when the money hits my neteller account.

Re: Can Canadians trust Neteller for withdrawing?

I believe that your money will MOST likely be okay with Neteller, even after the April 9th cut off for gambling transactions.

However, I do not really like to take risks and I'll be getting cashouts directly from reputable sites from now rather than EFTs from Neteller.

Those who got a crappy conversion rate, got it mainly because the exchange rate really sucks right now.

I requested a payout from PokerStars from them last week and recieved the cheque yesterday. I took about a week; my recollection is I used to get cheques in 3-4 days so everything still seems to be working fine.

Wait. I thought Neteller was only stopping transferring funds to and from poker sites starting April 9th. Are they completely shutting all services they provide as well?

They aren't supposed to be, but they have almost no non-gambling merchants. If I were you I'd plop my money into a big site, and look at other E-wallets/payment options. Like I said earlier you money is probably safe, but why take any risks here.

Exactly. I believe our money will be accessible after April 8th, but what good will it be to me in Neteller? My plan is to have every last cent out before then, because it does me no good in NT beyond that day, and then I'm not worrying about my money being held/delayed/what have you.

Re: Can Canadians trust Neteller for withdrawing?

My impression reading the forums is that Neteller is willing to move money until that date. I'm yet to hear of a poker site that is willing to move money to Neteller. I know Party ceased all Neteller transactions 2 days ago. Looks like Ecash(Crypto) has ceased as well. I was hoping to get my Crypto money fast through Neteller without having to set up an alternate means. Now I think I'll just use snail mail.

Re: Can Canadians trust Neteller for withdrawing?

Haven't the Canadians learned anything from the American debacle? Earlier this year, a lot of American's money was "safe" and "ok" in Neteller. Look what happened to those safe funds.

Don't fall into the "it won't happen to us" mindset, get all your funds out of Neteller as soon as possible.

To my knowledge, Party is the only site that has stopped dealing with NT immediately. I have withdrawn money back to NT from Paradise, Stars, a couple of Prima sites, and Will Hill since Sunday. Are you sure the eCash Cryptos won't let you withdraw? WH allowed me to, they just won't allow me to deposit via NT.

Bobo,

Please view my post above from an hour ago. Ecash has pulled Neteller as a method of withdrawl. The funds I attempted to withdraw are currently stuck in Ecash no-mans-land. I'm hoping they are released back to my Interpoker account today.

Bobo,

Hold the line. 3 hours and 6 minutes after sending me an email stating that Ecash will no longer allow players to withdraw through Neteller, they have just sent me another email stating that...

ECash Direct has sent your withdrawal request back to your NETeller account.

This 30 minutes after I made a complete Neteller withdrawal.

Nothing is for sure in the world of poker!

Glad to hear it.

That means the only sites I know of that have stopped dealing with NT for Canadiansthus far are Party (deposits AND cashouts) and Crypto (only for deposits).

I withdrew from Pokerroom two days ago into Neteller (no problem).

I put a 5k EFT through on Neteller 48 hours ago and it just hit my bank account. Very fast. In fact, a bit faster then it used to back in the good old days.

also anyone know some decent similar alternatives to neteller that wont be shutting down anytime soon. I have only been with netteller for a couple weeks now, it looks like bad timing for me...

This it the thread you want for eWallets:

eWallets

Paradise is one of the few sites that have no other eWallet for Canadians outside of NT. I have a lot of bonus to clear in Paradise, so I'm going to keep a couple of hundred in there, but I've already moved the rest out to NT. I expect at some point I'm going to have to get them to send me a cheque, although it's also quite possible I'll be able to use an eWallet once they move over to Boss.

I've already set up Click2Pay and Moneybookers, and I'll make sure all of my money is either on sites I want to play, or one of those two eWallets, within the next week.
