I\'m sooooooooo [censored] sick of country music
Ok, I just have to share some bitching and venting. I recently moved from Minnesota to Colorado for a job. Back at home we have some good hard rock stations that come in anywhere I am. There are a few annoying ass country stations in MN, but not every other channel like here. Thats not even the bad thing. I honestly hate country music, I like hard rock/metal and the people I work with think country is "the only music". So since I am the new guy, I have no choice and it is country all day everyday and it just makes me want to go AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AA
AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHH TURN THIS [censored] [censored] OFF. [censored] this is [censored] painful to my ears. Actually I have already said and done that to no good at all. Even if I had a choice the one good station in the whole state only comes in in my car but not in the office. I need some earplugs for work so I don't flip out and go AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH [censored] [censored] [censored] AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH THE PAIN [censored] AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. There was my venting, thanks for listening. |
Re: I\'m sooooooooo [censored] sick of country music
Are you going to be in colorodo for awhile, because you will end up liking it. a lot of my friends went to smallish colleges in the middle of Missouri, and they all were city kids, but ended up loving country. Apparently they say it grows on you. I refuse to stay anywhere for any length of time where I gotta listen to it.

Re: I\'m sooooooooo [censored] sick of country music
I think you are listening to the wrong country music. Most of what I listen to is Waylon Jennings/Merle Haggard and outlaw country. They are the real country music. The modern stuff is just a bunch of posers. Outlaw country was sung by real cowboys/real badasses like waylon and merle. Todays country music is pop music in disguise sung by a bunch of wannabes.

Re: I\'m sooooooooo [censored] sick of country music
OP, I suggest you check out Village People, Frankie Goes to Hollywood and Right Said Fred. You may find they better suit your taste.
For everyone else, I post a gratuitous picture of my favorite country singer. http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h5/joe1967/988277.jpg |

I like country music. I used to think it was the stupidest [censored] in the world. You just have to turn off your cynicism filter.
3 steps: 1. Love a southern girl. 2. Drive through the south without a CD player. 3. Sing along. |

Re: I\'m sooooooooo [censored] sick of country music
There is a device called an "MP3 player". I suggest you investigate this technological marvel.

Re: I\'m sooooooooo [censored] sick of country music
Most country sucks, especially the mainstream poppy crap (see Chixie Dicks), but that goes for any genre.
Q:What do you get when you play a country song backwards? A:You get your wife back, you get your dog back, you get your house back, you get your car back... |
Re: I\'m sooooooooo [censored] sick of country music
I know I'm in the minority - but I like the Dixie Chicks. Putting everything else aside - they are damn talented musicians.

Re: I\'m sooooooooo [censored] sick of country music
haha, I love how people validate liking garbage music because a hottie signs it. Country really is [censored] music. The "outlaw" country music doesn't exist anymore and it was the only good country music out there. The crap they play nowadays is horribly cheesy pop songs sang with a twang. It sucks and is just as crappy as the other junk on mainstream radio. OP I feel sorry for you, seriously just get an MP3 player, either portable or a deck and never waste a minute listening to this garbage ever again.

Re: I\'m sooooooooo [censored] sick of country music
TSC,
Country music is definitely not the genre I listen the most but I have to say that when the topic of country music comes up it never fails that most are just led in the wrong direction. Nashville country is pop garbage, it sucks and has ruined everything that Willie, Waylan, Johnny etc. built. I haven't listened to a country radio station in probably a decade. I am not saying this just b/c I am from Texas but Texas country is the best country you can listen to and/or even its sub-genres like red dirt (Oklahoma). The music is much more singer/songwriter, better lyrics, better musicians and some of it basically just alt-country. Robert Earl Keen was really the first to create this sound and then Pat Green kind of put it into the forefront but he sucks balls now and he sold out. He does pop albums just like the rest of them when 10 years ago the back of his concert shirts read "Nashville Sucks." Cory Morrow is Pat Green's best friend and my favorite of all the Texas country artists...in fact I am seeing him live tonight in Ft. Worth, his live concerts are as good as anything you can ever see. The last show I went to of his though he kept having to go backstage to do more blow, then a month later he got busted. Now he is clean apparently. His music appeals to a broad range of people, not just people that are fans of country but people that like rock music as well. Some artists: Cory Morrow, Robert Earl Keen, Jason Boland & The Stragglers, Cross Canadian Ragweed (not a fan but they are a cult favorite), Dub Miller, Cooder Graw, Roger Creager, Jack Ingram These are just a couple off the top of my head. I am sure other people can add tons to the list. |

Dids, cynicism is a waste of time. You'll figure that out once you stop hating yourself. |

Re: I\'m sooooooooo [censored] sick of country music
On hating country music:
I'll agree that, on the whole, it sucks. But I hate pretty much every sort of music there is. I only like specific songs of each style, as the bulk of them are terrible. I'm left with a vast array of music that I like from all genres. Not too many of them are country, though. I think that has to do with the "typical" country song being actively annoying in both rhythm and twang. |
Re: I\'m sooooooooo [censored] sick of country music
The Rolling Stones sing country music, and they most certainly do not suck.

It's marketed towards suburban women. Traditional gritty country music is very popular in the big cities such as NY and Chicago. It's been my experience that heavy metal, hard rock is most popular in the small towns of the midwest. |
