PartyGaming Shares
Seen these have risen 33% in last week, any ideas to why this is happening, a takeover perhaps, or anything else?

Re: PartyGaming Shares
Wow, up another 10+% today. I hadn't been following it the last few days. Recent events have finally been positive.
----------------------------------------------- In an interview, the chairman of the House of Representatives Financial Services Committee said he is in no hurry and plans to consult with others on the matter. "I'm not ready to give you more details, but I will be by next week or so. We'll talk more about it later. There's no urgency on it," he said. |
Re: PartyGaming Shares
Personally, I'm optimistic about things - lots of people probably are.

Re: PartyGaming Shares
perhaps just profit taking as everyone and their mom was prob shorting it. with all the stuff going on behind the public i got to think alot of people are making some nice green with just a little inside information.
if you think about it, it prob is a good long term investment since it was prob with 50% of the lowest it would go (party is going anywhere, US on no US) and with any changes in US has huge upside longterm. |
Re: PartyGaming Shares
isn't there a new legislation passed in the UK that makes it illegal for online casinos in the UK to take bets from non-UK residents?

isn't there a new legislation passed in the UK that makes it illegal for online casinos in the UK to take bets from non-UK residents? [/ QUOTE ] The legislation says that an online gaming licensee can't take bets from a customer in a prohibited country. a) The list of prohibited countries hasn't been provided yet. b) There aren't going to be any licensees anyway as they are going to be taxed at 15% of gaming profits - the rate had to be less than 5% to arouse any interest whatsoever from Party etc. |

[/ QUOTE ] Hmmmm if crypto were thinking that, they must be reconsidering as the tax rate is much higher than anticipated. The chancellor also stuck it to B&M as well with tax increases - basically completely screwing the policy of another government department. That's Scottish presbyterians for you... |
Re: PartyGaming Shares

#3. It up today from sportingbet agreement with Louisiana for 400k. [/ QUOTE ] Why would it matter to it's stock price (i.e. future earnings expectations)? You think Party is more likely to enter the U.S.? |
Re: PartyGaming Shares
Be carefull with europe. The european council like free trading, but the single nations germany, france, netherlands hate it.
Second point is Party pay a hill of players to join them. You see so many europeans because anyone got 150 free from Party without depositing if they want. And many of them never depositb there own money. |

b) There aren't going to be any licensees anyway as they are going to be taxed at 15% of gaming profits - the rate had to be less than 5% to arouse any interest whatsoever from Party etc. [/ QUOTE ] That is what they said pre the announcement when they were playing hardball in the negotiations but the only Party comment was that the tax rate was "no surprise". The issue is that share investors want to reduce risk. For Party coming onshore and and taking a 15% hit on profits is harsh but it locks in the EU market and makes entry to other markets less risky. My guess is that there is still (till this week?) a 15% discount on Party shares because of risk. It is a straight hedge bet - take 85% of profit in a secure legislative environment or go for 97% in a riskier environment. As an investor, post UIGEA, the paying the 15% whilst nasty is not an auto fold. If it were we would know by now, they are in the box. |
