Same 20/40 game as before. My image is probably tightish and spazzy, as I have been running poorly, but I won a hand 5 minutes ago with KK against one of the bigger calling stations, so it might be a bit more solid. Onto the hand.

Semi-aggro player raises in EMP, total fish calls, folds to me in the BB and I call 77.

Flop:

7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]2 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

I check, PFR bets, fish calls, I raise, PFR 3-bets, fish calls.

Cap and lead the turn or call and try C/R the turn?

I think this is an easy smooth call and turn checkraise. No reaistic draws. The presence of the fish makes the smooth call checkraise a cinch play I think. This is a wet dream hand by the way.

I CR this every day of the week and twice on sunday. I am a big street whore and the fish calling that flop often means "me have pair, me calling all bets to spike my 5 outer". Getting him trapped in for another turn bet (or two) with what looks pretty likley to be an overpair is way too juicy to pass up.

I think people too frequently cr the turn when leading is better, but this spot is prime for the turn check-raise b/c you can trap the fish without forcing him to call 2 bets cold. great spot to use it. that said, capping flop isn't much worse.

Tight and spazzy usually don't go together. Perfect place to call and check raise them both.

I like a smooth call on the flop and try for the check raise again on the turn.

Maybe I'm being to str8 forward but what is wrong with capping and just leading the whole way with our top set? Are we really going to get in a 2nd c/r?

I'm with you.Frond.Maybe most of the time you can get the check-raise in,but when it checks through on the turn,it really sucks.

Capping & leading will always get reasonable value,seems like.

This is the question. How sure are we that flop 3/bettor will follow through on the turn? 2 bets twice on the turn is certainly preferable, but whiffing would suck.

If you really wanna get sexy, try calling the flop and bet/3 betting the turn. May not work all the time or be the most +EV but it is very sexy.

If you want to get really sexy you 3 bet the flop AND checkraise the turn. OR

bet/3 bet the turn AND CR the river. Yeah, that is the sexiest.

It is pretty uncommon for live players to 3 bet overs here vs a good player and a fish. His 3 bet will almost always be an overpair. You just don't really want to see an Ace on the turn since if he has KK he may get scared that one of you has him beat. That may be a good card to change plans and lead out.

Agreed, these were my thoughts exactly. Although if an Ace hits and he raises again you may be in trouble.

the flop would be better if more players were involved. I vote for check-raise turn.

Not that it matters, really. I just called the flop, and the T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] hit on the turn. Check, check, check. [censored].

The river was the case 7. I bet and only the PFR called. He didn't show.
