How are the IP hotel rooms?

Just looking to stay at a relatively cheap place on or right off the strip. Is IP my best bet? Any other suggestions? I will be playing poker at Wynn and Bellagio. Thanks in advance!

PS It's my first trip to Vegas since 97, has anything changed? haha

IP is pretty dumpy, but in a location that gets you to the Bellagio in a 10 minute walk and Wynn isn't too far the other way (don't know if monorail reaches).

I just stayed at IP and if you're OK with a musty smelling room for a few days, it's worth the savings.

Vegas hasn't changed at all since '97. The Wynn was amazing then.

Not really to be honest. www.vegastodayandtomorrow.com has 1 or 2 changes in recent years, but that's about it really.

IP room quality = late 80s/early 90s Holiday Inn + long walk to elevators through smoky casino

the worst thing about the IP are the painfully slow elevators that take forever. Find the secret elevators behind the tiki bar the ones down by the monorail, longer walk, but fewer people waiting.

Its decent hotel.

iP, ah yes, I can recall it all now. That was the fist place that a bunch of us went on our first 21 year olds Vegas jaunt. $10 a night! 6 to a room. Beds and showers was all then and I assume it is still the same?

I liked IP rooms. They gave me a king size suite for price of a standard room. I had no problems with the room, elevator, smell, etc. The poker room, however, was the worst I've ever played in, with these ugly grey dirty chips, horrible tables, and cigar smoke all over the place. I caught a bad cold after playing up there. Ruined the last day of my trip.

is IP better or worse than the old frontier? can't imagine it could be much worse.

If you're staying there for a couple days it's a +ev move to make a reservation for the cheapest room they have, which could be as low as $50 / night on the weekends but which is actually outside the main hotel, about 200 yards out the back near the self parking structure. Then when you check in pull the infamous $20 trick and ask for an upgrade. That'll at least get you a standard room in the hotel proper. The IP is the one and only hotel I have ever had the gumption to try the $20 trick at and it worked like a charm.

The rooms themselves are fairly bad but who cares. The location on the Strip is primo. Sleep and shower there only. Gamble and eat elsewhere.

I would stay at Bally's, The Flamingo, or Harrah's before IP. They are all reasonably central on the Strip and definitely cheaper than their neighbors.

I like the IP. Great location and super cheap rooms...

IP is fine enough if all you want is a room. The deluxe rooms are recently renovated and newer looking than standard rooms. People who won't stay at IP are way too foo foo for me.

If you can stay at a motel six, IP will suit you just fine.
