Limit poker in Niagara Falls
I'm going to be spending a few days in Niagara Falls next month. I'm aware of both Casino Niagara and Fallsview but when I searched the archives I only saw information on NL. Does anyone happen to know what if any limit games they spread? Also, any chance of a non-hold 'em limit game (stud, O8, etc.)?
Thanks. |
Re: Limit poker in Niagara Falls
I don't know about Casino Niagara, but for Fallsview you'll never get anything other than Hold 'Em spread there. I actually called them last night and they only had NL games running. The floor manager said they rarely run any limit games because interest is sparse.
I played there last year and they had two 3/6, two 6/12 and one 10/20 table running. I think (but I may be wrong) that Casino Niagara only spreads 2/4 limit for their limit games. |

Re: Limit poker in Niagara Falls
i'm assuming you may have called at a very slow time... surprised they wouldn't have any limit tables going....
at busy times, they've had 4-5 out 15 tables on limit (haven't been for a few months though).... that 10/20 limit seems very rare, although you can request it and once a couple of people put in on the board, you can get momentum for it.... the trend on limit there is pretty negative though, more and more NL over time. |

I was just hoping from some insight from those who may have been there recently. Thank you for your help. |

[/ QUOTE ] that's what i was thinking too.... i think seneca on U.S. side might actually run a few non-hold'em games. omaha? pineapple? don't know how often. not sure about any of it though, maybe a regular can chime in. |
Re: Limit poker in Niagara Falls
If you want limit or non-Hold'em games, go across the border to play at Seneca. At rare occasions Niagara might spread 2/4 limit and Fallsview might spread 5/10, but those two casinos are pretty much NLHE central.
And did I mention free beer at Seneca? |
Re: Limit poker in Niagara Falls
Omaha on thursday nights at fallsview. i'm pretty sure its 10/20 limit high. The first ever PLO game was ran by request during the WPT and went for like 36 hours straight.

Thanks to everyone for the help.

Re: Limit poker in Niagara Falls
Fallsview - has some 5/10 and 10/20 on weekends usually one table
Casino Niagara - sometimes a 2/4 or 3/6 rare Seneca - US Side casino - spreads up 4/8 daily but call that cames not always going, on fridays and saturdays then have a 3/6 with a kill 08 game thats juicy |
Re: Limit poker in Niagara Falls
What about the casino in Brantford, I've played there a couple times about a year ago and they had 2-5, 5-10 and I think a few other limits. I think it's about an hour from Niagara. Others may know more about this place but from what I remember it was pretty decent.

Re: Limit poker in Niagara Falls
Last time I was at Fallsview over christmas they had 2/5 and 5/10 limit.
|
Re: Limit poker in Niagara Falls
I was there two weeks ago. 2-5 and 5-10 Limit at Fallsview, the rest was NL. Casino Niagara only 2-4 Limit and the rest 1-2 NL.
Seneca has 2-4, 4-8 and 5-10 Limit usually going. They also will spread O8, 7 Card Stud, Pinapple etc as requested. And of course NL. |

The players are screaming for no limit but dealing with the government has proved impossble. |

Re: Limit poker in Niagara Falls
As an ultra-low roller I'm intrigued by the idea of a 2/5 game. Any reason they don't just make it 2/4? Thanks again to all those who provided info BTW.

Re: Limit poker in Niagara Falls
yea niagra ran 2/4 limit, so weak
|
Re: Limit poker in Niagara Falls
fallsview runs some higher spreads, same as ur normal deal, all awful players
|
Re: Limit poker in Niagara Falls
I just phoned Fallsview and they said they don't have any limit games running today, and haven't had any for the past week. She said she highly doubted they would have a game tonight.
Didn't Fallsview used to run 6/12? I wonder why they switched to 5/10. |

Re: Limit poker in Niagara Falls
Man there are so many things wacked with Fallsview. How about having a 2/5 and 5/5 NL games, the fact that there are no chip runners, or the fact that there is no separate cage for the poker room.
|
Re: Limit poker in Niagara Falls
Yes Brantford is about an hour from Fallsview, and has 2-5, 5-10, 10-20, 20-40, 30-60, and 50-100. All limit. Definitely is a nicer card room than Fallsview though, and is way better set up.

Re: Limit poker in Niagara Falls
Just got back from a weekend at Fallsview. When I got there they didn't have a single limit game running. By 9 or so at night they had one 2/5 limit table and a list for a 5/10 table but it never got off the ground. I spoke to the floor and she said that they rarely, if ever, run anything higher than 5/10 limit and even that is sparse.
Side note: the tables there suck. I mean the actual tables - very difficult to lift your cards off the felt. |

I remember just a 2/5 and a 5/10 limit table running (both full). |
Re: Limit poker in Niagara Falls
I just got back too and was on the list for 10/20 all weekend, but it never got off the ground. They admitted to me that it rarely ran. The 5/10 limit game did get going Saturday night, but I was in a good NL game so I just stayed there. The time charges seem fairly steep, they are taking $120 off the table every hour at 2/5 NL with a $200 cap. Given the lack of a shuffle machine at most tables and the glacial pace of play, a normal raked game would be better.
At one point in the wee hours, I ordered up a Red Bull and Vodka and they gave me a glass with vodka and a can of Red Bull. Apparently they cannot mix the two because of concern for my well-being. I found this odd. |
Re: Limit poker in Niagara Falls
And does anyone else think the tables there suck? It's nearly impossible to lift your cards off the felt (well, it's not really felt...I don't know what it is).
The waitresses there suck. As does the floor. But the games are juicy so what can you do? |

[/ QUOTE ] i'm not a fan of fallsview service, really any portion of it.... i'd say river rock in vancouver is better for everything other than your competition. so as you said, i guess i'd rather go for weak players at fallsview, but the non-competitive poker aspects aren't great there. |
Re: Limit poker in Niagara Falls
Oh - and when I gave them my player card I asked how much comp I would get. A whopping 40cents per hour of play. So after 10 hours of play I enjoyed a complimentary muffin. Nice.

Re: Limit poker in Niagara Falls
I was there on Monday 3/26. A $5/10 limit started at 4:30pm when enough people were on the interest list and then it broke at 6:00pm when 4 people left for dinner. There was a $2/5 that also didn't last long. I tried $1/2 no limit but thought $5/half hour for a session charge was way too high.

Re: Limit poker in Niagara Falls
Fallsview can and WILL spread other poker games, but it takes alot of initiatve from the floor. If you can bring 10 people up to them, when they have spare dealers and free tables, and say "we want to play Stud eight or better" or "omaha hi-low" they WILL deal it for you (if there's a dealer who can deal these games. And the dealers can, some of them, so talk to them in advance while you're playing, because they rotate through).
I have played omaha at fallsview before, and they will also spread pretty much any limit of hold'em if there's interest. Of course, there isn't interest, so they will occasionally spread 5/10 or 10/20 (on weekends) and often spread 2/5 or 5/10. Niagara always has a 2/4 and 3/6 limit game going, 95% of the time during the day and 50% of the time at night. |
