200NL - overpair + fd up against a tricky LAG.
villain is ItsMrFish2U from Party 200. I have him at about 32/20/1.5 over 400 hands. He seems to pick on me alot - I've been running veeery bad at Party and I think he sees me as a TAG who is somewhat weak and exploitable postflop. He constantly leads flops against me in HU situations, he's quite a station (by this I mean he gets to showdown ALOT), and he makes alot of big, borderline spewy bluffs. Is this standard? I'm trying to think of a worse hand that calls me on this turn after he calls the flop.. I think a set or flush would get it in on the flop - so what it do SSNL?

I like a turn check or 1/2 pot and call a push..I think the only hand he calls this with that we do beat is A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Qx

Re: 200NL - overpair + fd up against a tricky LAG.
The reason I don't like a turn check is because I figured that I was still ahead (given my assumption that he'll get it AI on the flop with a better hand), and his line is fairly consistent with AsQx (fwiw I think he will often 3bet it preflop, but he does mix it up alot). 1/2 pot may have been better than a push though I don't think it makes too much difference in what he calls and folds. I think he knows that I'm starting to get frustrated with his constant flop leads so maybe he's calling my flop raise somewhat light? Ugh, I dunno.
Any more thoughts guys? |
Re: 200NL - overpair + fd up against a tricky LAG.
Strange line by him. Looks a lot like a flopped set but I doubt any solid player would play it so slow on that board (especially his turn check). That's a tough hand bud. The turn shove is fine IMO... but alternately you could check the turn and induce a bet from a Queen / As / bluff (although I don't see him calling flop w air).

standard.

Re: 200NL - overpair + fd up against a tricky LAG.
don't think he'd risk letting it get checked through on the turn if he got there with a set. A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]Q would prob. get it in on the flop but he might play a flush like this. i dunno really, he has to play something like this. even 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]'s gotta lead the turn right. yeah i don't know either, check turn?

he is not a tricky lag at all [/ QUOTE ] no? that was my conclusion after he owned me in this hand, and then moments later c/r bluffed a turn with Q high, pushing me off TPGK. |
Re: 200NL - overpair + fd up against a tricky LAG.
I have him at 23/14/1.8 over 725 hands so he's not even that agressive.

Hello,
I don't really have a lot to say about the hand. I understand why you would push there and that it's a very unfortunate situation for you to be in. About me being a calling station and a fish, well, thanks for reminding me, I'll get better immediately so that everybody is happy. lol. One thing I would like to say though, the reason I signed up, is the following: Rebuyboy, I don't really care what you think or don't think of me, and there won't be a 'heads up for rolls'-e-penis threat from me or whatever. But, seriously, if I was a very bad player who played for amusement and didn't care about the money, you would have made me leave the table on multiple occasions. Berating people for bad plays and 'tapping the glass' isn't something you should be doing, ever. Actually, I urge everyone to never berate anyone ever. I come up with creative ways to interrupt in 'shark' (although I don't think sharks berate people) and 'fish' discussions, to make them stop. The worst thing I ever saw, since I play on party, was written by the hands of a regular poster here in SSNL. He explained to a very bad player that 'he shouldn't have called that bet on the turn, because he didn't have the pot odds'. Lol, are you serious? Please stop. Thanks for reading, Fish |

Thanks for reading, Fish [/ QUOTE ] Sooo what's your real 2p2 name? FWIW I never really said anything negative about your play. You pwned me twice in like 5 minutes and basically ruined my night - respect! And wordup to interrupting the sharks when they start to berate the fish. I've never understood why it makes people feel better to put down the players who are basically handing their money over. |
Re: 200NL - overpair + fd up against a tricky LAG.
I don't have a real 2p2 name, this is my first post. Obviously I do lurk here. Never posted because I started playing cashgames 4 weeks ago anyway. I probably will post now.

Re: 200NL - overpair + fd up against a tricky LAG.
Wow, interesting. I think SSNL needs a party regulars thread like MSNL. Sounds like there's lots of drama.
Also, unlike ItsMrFish2U I will play rebuyboy HU for rolls. |
