girlfriend in vegas

my gf and i are heading to vegas and as she is not a gambooler i thought i would consult the forum for things for us /her to do.
also we are looking at staying at the tuscan suites (sp?) place anyone stayed there?
she really likes modern art, and literature so anything to do with such from 4/1- 4/6 would be good:)
we are planning on seeing zumanity one of the nights we are there.
she is vegetarian so good veggie restaurants a plus.
for me mixed and non holdem games in the 5/10 - 15-30 range hold a lot of interest too but i can figure that out easier than nongambooling things of course.
thanks,
jason

Rent a car and give her the keys, Bellagio, Wynn, and Venetian are the hotels to "see". Red Rock Canyon and The Damn are also interesting. Most any of the hotels will have vegan style menu. Tell her to bring a couple of good books and enjoy the pool. IMO - Zoomanity is not that good. Get tickets for "Mystere" and "O", then go see Zoomanity, you'll understand after you've see the previous two shows. One last thing if she needs pampering, let her go to one of the many day spas. It is always the best money spent for my wife when we go, I can gamble most of the day and she's out of my hair for time being, not forgetting to mention, she'll come back like jello and will more than likely hit the sack early after a big meal the same night.

Good Luck!

she has already seen "O" and thus wants to see zumanity this time, (she was in vegas for a weekend last summer). red rock trumps hoover dam i guess? ive never been to red rock. Pool looks nice at that tuscan place thus that is our choice so far. is the bellagio the spa to hit or can a great spa be had for less than bellagio dollars? thanks for the reply Oh one more thing statues water wynn what time of day is that? would make for a good coffee break im guessing...

If she likes the idea of seeing a good show that also has kink to it, I'll suggest "The Fashionistas."

Never heard of it? I'm not surprised. The show is not in a casino hotel, and does not have a huge PR machine to promote it.

It is a pretty good show, however. The narrative is told through dance, with little dialogue. Not for everyone, but the way you describe your girlfriend, I think she'll appreciate it.

The story is about self discovery, and is overtly kinky. Not all of the dance numbers will do it for you, but (most likely) at least some will. Some of them you are going to find downright silly, but the show has some light moments that are meant to be comic.

The production values of the choreography and costumes are top notch. The dance is real, and so these are real dancers' bodies. The sets are not as elaborate as what you can expect from Cirque, but there is clever use of video and other props.

Finally, it's cheaper than Zumanity, and you should be able to find discounts in coupon books if you look. In fact, I just found a two-for-one coupon online.

For art, there's always the gallery at Bellagio. It costs money to get in, but it's got quite a collection.

I would add that the indoor sky diving located right off strip near stratosphere was fun and worth (I think) the ~$85. Also, the rides ON Stratosphere. Do you both golf? I liked Mystere (Cirque show at TI) and so did the wife.

Enjoy

i went to vegas over thanksgiving with my wife. she is not much of a gambler, but i was able to convince her to play 2/4 limit "for an hour or two." by 6:00 AM i was ready to leave, but she wanted to keep playing.

so you can always try to get your GF addicted to gambling.

I have not seen Zumanity, mostly because everyone that I know who has seen it has told me not to bother. Mystere is very good as well as La Reve. La Femme would be a good one for you to see together.

Re: girlfriend in vegas

Does she have a buddy that is single? If so, take the buddy with you. You can play poker and they can sightsee, shop, hit the spa, go to shows. This is a winning strategy if your wife/girl friend doesn't gamble. We take one of my wife's buddies with us on every gambling trip. It's the best idea I ever had.

For veggie food, try Lotus of Siam off strip. I have not been, but it comes up a lot as a veggie spot, and Ed Miller used to rave about it. Review from LVRJ

This citysearch list has other places, but the fact that Lotus of Siam is not on the list makes me question it.

Re: Is your girlfriend hot?

I've seen Zumanity, and it is way overrated.

If you like Cirque because of all the dancing type of things, then you'd probably enjoy it. But it felt, to me, like I was watching a Cirque with all the actual interesting stuff removed, but with a couple of boobies.

Two summers ago, my wife and niece were quite disappointed by the pricey and weak show at the Bellagio art museum. Maybe it's better now.

Re: girlfriend in vegas

At this point no way I'd visit Vegas without renting a car.

Red Rock Canyon = beautiful hikes for all levels of experience, only a 25 min drive (less from Red Rock casino).

Mt. Charleston = Breathtaking alpine landscape, 45 minutes drive from LV, lodge serving scenic lunch on patio amidst pines and wild hummingbirds.

Mohave Desert Preserve = Spectacular, little more than one hours drive from LV (bring at least one gallon of water) link to info

This summer we're planning to visit the Atomic Testing Museum and downtown art galeries. I don't think I'd managed to convince my wife to go to Vegas every year (this is our 9th visit) if it wasn't for the huge spread of nature experiences the area readily offers in addition to all the fun and dining.

The one MUST SEE nature spot is the brand new skywalk at Grand Canyon West. It opens in 2 weeks, its a glass platform which allows you to look down a 4,000 foot drop - Its the highest man-made structure in the world. To put this in perspective, when I went sky diving it was 3,000 feet. Visit Lake Meed, and the Hover Dam at the same time. link - see the video! Its sick!

meh. Height alone doesn't do it for me. I also have to wonder how successful they're going to be with this. They're in an out-of-the-way place and they've got nothing out there now to attract folks away from the National Park Service facilities other than this gimmick. Do they even have a paved road to get there? So I think they have an uphill battle.

Take her for a drink at the Peppermill's Fireside Lounge

The Liberace Museum is a must, it's out on Trop, I think. I got a kick out of the restaurant, but it wasn't amazing. The bar was cool.

If you're there friday (4/6) night, in between strip/downtown they open up a bunch of little galleries and close off the streets. The crowd skewed a bit young, but it was fun. They had a ton of bands playing. I think it was the first friday of every month (someone local confirm that, maybe)

Buffets are actually pretty good for veggies. One of my personal fav's is Alladin because of the mexican and "ethnic" choices

most definetly send her to the spa one day. my life loves the one at mandalay

Since she likes to read, take her to the Gamblers General Store

I went to zumanity with my wife, and we both REALLY liked it. I would def. reccomend seeing it. Mystere is a few bucks less, and better for acrobatics and all, but zumanity is sexier, def. worth seeing with a gf/wife. Hell, two of my guy friends (both straight) went to see it and they loved it too.

Lotus of Siam is a really great cheepo restaurant, thats why the locals love it - and its authentic (make sure you ask for the owner's menu, its the real deal and changes every day). But its a total dive, its not a touristy place at all. On the bright side its in the same shopping center as The Green Door, a sex club - you can always rip off your clothes and find willing couples to share.

If she is hot just drop her off...someone will take care off her, show her a good time, etc. while your gambling away.

Girlfriends and casinos dont mix. Take her to Vegas and dont gamble, go see a show, go to the hoover damn spend time with her. Or leave her at home and gamble by yourself. My girl would perfer to stay at home then walk around Vegas by herself. Thats why when she goes I dont do poker, just shows a liile BJ,eat alot spoil her at the saps things like that.

Re: Is your girlfriend hot?

go play poker after having sex at night, while she's sleeping...its perfect timing bc all the drunk players are out donking off stack after stack

when u come back in the morning u should have more money than you left with, hook her up with a spa treatment and let her go shopping

repeat.

this is what i usually do and it keeps her happy, and lets me play poker for extended periods of time.

Re: Is your girlfriend hot?

fwiw, my girlfriend and I saw Zumanity recently and we both loved it. I've seen a couple other cirque shows (not in vegas)... it probably wasn't quite as good as the others, but it was still a fun show I thought. Especially two acts near the begining.. the two girls in the water bowl, and the romantic couple where the chick would fling herself and the guy would catch her were both amazing.

I guess it just depends what you're into... I thought the in-between acts were funny, some of the acts were super impressive, and the bare skin was a plus for me...

I could see how some people wouldn't like it as much as the other shows though. It wasn't as immersive an experience as the others I saw (Quidam and Dralion), both of which had better music and an other-worldly feeling to them.

Fat Elvis isn't quite so fat anymore. Just recently read a story that he's dropped to about 600lbs from his previous 900lbs. He became a little concerned when he stopped being able to walk.
