*300* Movie Review *No Spoilers*
I thought it was very good. The fight scenes were very originally done. The story line is very good considering I only went to watch the fighting. I would recommend this movie and might go to it again. If you are going to post spoilers post them in white please. **** <---- 4 stars for 300

Re: *300* Movie Review *No Spoilers*
This is awesome, I've been wanting to see this since the previews started. I'll definitely go tomorrow night, thanks for the review!

Re: *300* Movie Review *No Spoilers*
I'm seeing this IMAX style on Sunday night, looking forward 2 it and I'm not really the movie going type
|
Re: *300* Movie Review *No Spoilers*
Saw it in the IMAX this afternoon. I think it was really well done all around, story, camera work, etc. Def lived up to the hype for me.
|
Re: *300* Movie Review *No Spoilers*
No way lived up to the hype.
Every other shot in an action/fight scene shouldnt be in 1/2 speed. |
Re: *300* Movie Review *No Spoilers*
I liked it too, but i will agree slowing down every single shot got a little silly. Oh and the scene with the ships crashing and the rock music really silly.
|
Re: *300* Movie Review *No Spoilers*
My friend said the plot sucked. Typical hollywood: all flash, no substance. Plz confirm.
|
Re: *300* Movie Review *No Spoilers*
poor-man gladiator, ripped so many motifs.
gladiator meets sin city |
Re: *300* Movie Review *No Spoilers*
I really enjoyed it. The fight scenes were awesome, and while the plot wasn't as deep as a gladiator type movie, it was still very well executed and fit with the overall theme. The movie was also the perfect length (for me anyway) - there weren't any boring drawn on scenes and the movie ended at the right moment.
|
Re: *300* Movie Review *No Spoilers*
2.5 stars from me
|
Re: *300* Movie Review *No Spoilers*
I thought it was a decent action movie. The plot was very basic, but I didn't expect anything too involved. I thought it was about 10 minutes too long. I wanted it was going to end after a certain scene, which I guess I won't mention since it would be a spoiler.

Re: *300* Movie Review *No Spoilers*
I just recently read the graphic novel and I thought Snyder did an excellent job porting it to the big screen. Only complaint is that in some scenes the music was appropriate but in others it didn't fit as well as it should. Most people who enjoyed Sin City should find this to be a fun watch.

My friend said the plot sucked. Typical hollywood: all flash, no substance. Plz confirm. [/ QUOTE ] This was like a direct translation of a graphic novel. The director did a great job keeping to the story, going so far as to change very little in mono/dialogue. I really enjoyed the movie. |
Re: *300* Movie Review *No Spoilers*
I really enjoyed it, but im really into greek history and then the fight scenes were awesome
|
Re: *300* Movie Review *No Spoilers*
I didn't really like this movie as much as I would have hoped. The plot wasn't that good and there were not enough personal relationships with the characters. The dialogue was also horrible. I did enjoy the fighting scenes though

Re: *300* Movie Review *No Spoilers*
it was ok =/
I expected a lot more, and this was even after the rating on rotten tomatoes dropped to 60%.... BLEH it was still entertaining and worth seeing |
Re: *300* Movie Review *No Spoilers*
Haven't seen it yet...
But if you're responding, could you say if you saw on IMAX or regular? |
Re: *300* Movie Review *No Spoilers*
just saw it
3 stars from me I thought it looked very good, as I was expecting from the trailers story line was pretty weak..although I didn't expect much since the story it is supposed to tell is pretty simple...I would have appreciated a little more being expanded upon in the beginning, but that may have made it worse because of my only big problem with the movie... that is..acting..everyone other than the main guy was pretty bad..and even he was not great..it didn't destroy the movie for me though.. so I would recommend going to see it..just for the look and "feel" of the battle scenes and other cool images...oh and leonidas' yells (the ones shown in the trailer.."This is Sparta, etc) |

Re: *300* Movie Review *No Spoilers*
It is trash, and not entertaining.
I am pretty sure Dynamic cannot be talking about 300. The storyline was the opposite of good. Acting and characters are all uninteresting. Plot is cliche and uninteresting. It was like watching cutscenes for an action video game. It would have been well done if thats what it had been. Even the action sequences seemed very repetitive to me. I really enjoyed Sin City too. |

I greatly prefer half speed, since it lets you actually see what's going on. I can't stand the schizophrenic, herky jerky ADD camera action that hollywood usually takes. This, and this alone, is why the Matrix was so cool |

What is the point of choreographing cool fight scenes and then showing them in a way that no one can understand what is happening ie. Batman Begins. The 1/2 speed just lets you enjoy a cool move for twice as long. |
Re: *300* Movie Review *No Spoilers*
I just got back and thought it was great. Cool fight scenes, didn't waste time with unnecessary love interests, and it stayed true to the comics (though they added the whole goings on in Sparta while they were fighting). The thing that really struck me was the use of the sound. I normally don't really care about sound very much but was really impressed this time.

Re: *300* Movie Review *No Spoilers*
Just got back. Really enjoyed it. Found myself judging how narrow passageways were for defense purposes afterwards. Exactly what I thought it would be. Liked it more than Sin City.
|
Re: *300* Movie Review *No Spoilers*
3.5/5 on my really tough grading scale. I don't like how closely resembled Lord of the Rings, but worse. The storyline could have been much better. Its like they substituted titties for good plot which may be a good or bad thing.

Re: *300* Movie Review *No Spoilers*
Anyone who rates this anything less than "awesome" has my sympathy. You will truly never find happiness if you did not enjoy this movie thoroughly.
|
Re: *300* Movie Review *No Spoilers*
this was great...no way this movie resembled LOTR. It was grittier and sensationalized war. basically the 300 spartans were all bad ass, that's the plot and I was happy with it.

poor-man gladiator, ripped so many motifs. gladiator meets sin city [/ QUOTE ] I thought gladiator was ok but a poor man's Braveheart. None of the wit, and the fight scenes were all flash and gore - boring and repetitive. I was mildly entertained by Sin City but could care less if I ever see it again. |

Re: *300* Movie Review *No Spoilers*
Although not a top tier All Time Movie, this movie was worth the $8.
It was a very clear cut good vs. evil, right vs. wrong kind of flick, which I like. The action was awesome. The story line was bare, but I think that added to the feel of the movie. Seems like everything was much more simple in that time. If some king was more powerful than you and had a bigger army, they would take your stuff. No questions. The Spartans wanted to be free and they knew that freedom came by physically protecting it, so they became the best fighters in the world. Lot's of good lessons to learn there. |

yeah the ships crashing was pretty random [/ QUOTE ] The producers had the ships crashing to show the enormous size of the Persian empire. We saw what, hundreds of ships being sunk? Then when the Spartans see them land, there were well over 100,000 troops getting ready. It was showing that while 100 ships to a normal empire would be a tragic loss, but to Persia it was nothing at all. |

The Spartans weren't about freedom, they were about a very specific way of life based on very specific values. |
Re: *300* Movie Review *No Spoilers*
I really like the movie. I thought that it was a different type of movie and that alone made it different. As far as the 1/2 speed fight scenes, I loved it. Actually seeing a lot of the gore happening in slow motion was neat. How do I make something white so I can ask about a part of the movie.

[/ QUOTE ] Well, they talked a lot about being free in the movie, so I was commenting on that. I don't know a ton about the actual history of the story. [/ QUOTE ] Sparta has some really cool history, despite being the military powerhouse they fought much less often in the peloponesian wars than other states did in the area. They were definitely well equipped and well disciplined/trained and they turned a few victories over larger but poorly equipped/trained opponents (this is what happens at Thermopylae- the Spartans pick perfect terrain for their strengths and go up against an opponent whose spears struggle to pierce spartan armor, and whose own armor provided little defense). They used their reputation as a weapon in a lot of instances- refusing to send troops to allies unless their generals were in charge. Once in charge they would set their (usually small) contingent of warriors against the weakest wing of the opposition which naturally allowed for more glorious tales of dominating opponents who outnumbered them (which leads to a psychological advantage on the field as well. As far as Sparta is concerned as a state- it was much closer to a military dictatorship than a free country in the sense that we think of it. |
Re: *300* Movie Review *No Spoilers*
Every reason mentioned why a person didn't like the movie I could careless while watching. I went into the movie wanting to see some badasses brutalizing in war, cool visual imagery, and lines like, "SPARTANS!!!! PREPARE FOR GLORY!!!!" It turns out that I liked most of the rest of the movie too. Agreed that I found myself thinking Gladiator a lot, like the end when the Queen and her son are standing in the fields, the fields looked exactly like the ones in Gladiator. Oh well, I didn't go to this movie to be nitty. I thought it was really good and would see it many times.

Re: *300* Movie Review *No Spoilers*
It was stupid. By the end of the movie you were able to remember two characters' names. Ugh.
Coolest LOOKING movie I've ever seen, but it doesn't even come close to holding a candle to Gladiator or Braveheart. I just didn't care when characters got killed off because I had no idea who they were. If they sped up the slow scenes they could've added an hour to the movie and had some character development. |
