Roll call for Saturdays AC Caesars WSOP event

Hi everyone,

I want to go tomorrow night to Caesars and preregister for Saturday's WSOP $300 +$30 event. I do not plan on playing poker tomorrow night, however I would like to meet up with anyone who would like to meet up for dinner or a drink.

We can meet at another casino. I do not know much about Caesars. I only played in the room when it first opened.

I would like to meet up around 7 or 8 if anyone is interested.

Also interested in knowing how many people from Two Plus Two plan on playing Saturday's event.

I will have a pyramid protecting my cards. I will have a cap of some kind on my head, will most likely have an MP3 player going, and glasses and a goatee.

Either send a pm or post here. Thanks.

I'll be up there tonight, hopefully to preregister. I can't say I have my wardrobe very thought out. I will be the stud player donating 300 bucks while hungover.

Hey everyone,

I just got off the phone with Ken at the poker room.
Caesars has 150 still left for tomorrow's $300 + $ 30 event.
He said the tournament will likely sell out before tomorrow.

Players can pregister the night before.
I plan on going about 6:30 if anyone wants to meet up for dinner please let me know.

That sucks! No way I can get there ther today. Are they taking alternates? So ther eis no way to register by phone? Only in person? Big time bummer. I was so looking forward to this.

Any additional info you can give is greatly appreciated. Certainly worth a beer after day one!

Thanks!

Re: Follow up

Looks like they switched over to the tape info @ Caesars so I can't even get a hold of the Floor to find out if they'll be taking alternates tomorrow.

they took alternates in Event 1...for what that is worth.

Re: Follow up

It's worth alot. Prossibly even enough to make me take the chance of just showing up as early as I can manage tomorrow morning and hoping 4 the best.

I could not get through again to a live person. I will have to check it out in person tonight.

Re: Follow up

I live in Long Island and am leaving for AC in a coup hours, I just called Caesars to ask a few questions. This is a rough transcript of my conversation with the poker room.

Me: Is tomorrows $300 + 40 event sold out yet?
Idiot: I don't know

M: Well do you know if the event is going to be capped?
I: No clue

M: Will they be accepting alternates?
I: uhhhhhhhh

M: SMD

Then he tells me to dial extension 5638 to ask questions about the tournament, and i hang up.

When i call back, the operator tells me that extension is for outgoing calls only.

Guess ill just play the megasat to the main event if i cant get in.

Yup, that's about the level of 'service' I got from the guy when I called yesterday, what a joke. Well, maybe screw it, instead of trying to get there all early and have to wait around for hours and risk getting involved in some ring game that I'll hate to leave, I'll just show up later in the day and shoot for some Sats for the main event.

Ok..I just got off the phone with the poker room. I spoke with someone named "Charlie", he told me that they planned on limiting the event to 1200 people.

He said they did not sell out yet, and if I get there tonight I will not get shut out.

I didn't even know this tournament existed, and now I want to go. I don't really feel like spending the night though. Hmm...

Re: Follow up..on the follow up

I'm registered for Saturday. Table 13 (that has to be a good omen, right?), kidney stones be damned even though I'm supposed to pass them in the next 72 hours or so.

First place in Monday's $300+$40, with 1100 entrants, was $86k.

DO NOT GO TO THE POKER ROOM TO REGISTER - you have to go upstairs to the Palladium Room (at the end of the skywalk from Bally's (EDIT: more correctly Wild Wild West), or up the escalator from the Caesars lower casino level and regular poker room, or through the level you enter from the parking garage).

I'm not sure I'd trust anything the people in the poker room say, as they are not involved in the WSOP registration (unless they are also working upstairs). "Charlie" does sound like he knows what he was talking about, the rest of those guys were tools.

Re: Follow up..on the follow up

decent tournament

dealers sucked tho, we were playing with 51 cards for the first hour before the dealer realized it

at the table behind us some girl was complaining because she had a royal flush vs a full house and the dealer pushed the pot to the full house person and I guess they didn't know how many chips were in the pot

made it up to 14k in chips before i busted level 6 making a bluff against the only guy at the table who could bust me :\

tho he did take 10 mins to call

also, why was there like 7 tables set up before the tournament, about 40 free tables, and no dealers? the list for 1/2 NL was like 70 deep but they didn't have any dealers. wouldn't you expect people who came for a tournament would want to play poker before the thing?

had to donk off some money on wheel of fortune slots to kill some time, but instead i spun the wheel like 4 times and got 1000 twice, so that covered my entry fee

Re: Follow up..on the follow up

Just waking up...

Here was my experience from Saturday's event. Painful, but fun. I got busted out in about 2 1/2 hours of play.

At our table (#50) we had 2 old bastards playing cards- not poker. BB $50 they would raise 1,000-1,500. Or go all-in. Every time I tried to get creative on a hand this seemed to happen. I was card dead for most of the event and with 2 Granddads there- it was tough. You really couldn't bluff them. When they showed you their hand it would (usually) be marginal stuff.

On the long ride back home (6 hours) I was able to go through a lot of the hands and I know I made a few tactical errors that lead to my early departure. In the past you normally get 1 "old guy" that you can trap, but with 2 of them- it was a brutal for me. I will have to update my strategy playbook for this type of scenario.

I hope every one had better luck on this event.

/Event #3 I did cash in 36th place. This is another story.

Re: Follow up..on the follow up

Got busted during level 10 when I pushed my TT and the big stack had KK. Out ~150th or so. My first table (13) was a gift from god - I had 12k in chips before the first break and only showed down one hand - a flopped set of 9s on an all club flop, where I raised PF and bet the flop and turn. I managed to get the flopped small flush to fold on the turn and the naked Qc with OESD that came along for the ride never got there. Also was on the good side of AA vs KK for a change.

My dealers weren't too bad for the most part, and they were really scrounging for bodies early. Every dealer I had before dinner said they were either finishing a double shift or dealing their regular shift at their normal room later.

All in all, the event was well run in my opinion especially considering how large the field was. I did feel sorry for the fools that ate the box dinner - they all said it was pretty bad but the gf and I ran off to Cafe Roma for a sit down dinner during the break. French Dip sandwich FTW.

EDIT: Still carrying the 3mm kidney stone with me. My early table was like a MASH unit at one point - one guy with a soft cast on his right arm, one guy on crutches, and me clutching my side every half hour or so (when I had "movement"). I managed to keep away from the percosets until I was done playing.

Re: Follow up..on the follow up

Were you upstairs or downstairs with the good dealers?

The one downstairs were regular caesars staff, upstairs were brought in just for the tournament. Downstairs is where I had all the problems tho.

but in their defense i don't think the card room spreads anything higher than 2/5NL or 5/10 limit and its usually pretty dead

Any 2P2ers at the final table of event 6. I came in 6th and enjoyed the tournament. My first WSOP event. I am pretty sure Zman is a 2p2er but I didn't know about the rest of the guys, let me know, it was a good time at the ft.
