CO raise + button + AA = raise pre-flop.
(You want to play big pots with big hands and position.) The flop is draw heavy. I raise here 100% of the time. As played: check behind on turn. No idea what happened on river, but I assume you got your ass handed to you. As played, I check fold the river. |
Re: too slow play for aces? $20 180 players sit&go
Raise the flop - get money in there and inflate the pot. People will call you // raise you with aces // flush draws in that spot. You now will only beat a bluff on the river.

Re: too slow play for aces? $20 180 players sit&go
The SB went all in on the turn anyways for less than 200 extra chips than what he bet with.
As is, what was said was true, but I think that no matter what, you aren't going to fold a set of aces. The river really made no difference in the hand to you, but either way, you apparantely let the short stack push with any diamond and I'm sure he won with a flush. Assuming that he had a decent hand, with that flop you probably aren't going to remove anyone with a diamond off of the hand and obviously after the turn anyone with a high diamond will probably stay around for the ride.. |
Re: too slow play for aces? $20 180 players sit&go
Preflop, CO raised to 4xBB, so he probably doesn't want to fold. Reraise to 300. He won't put you on aces.
Raise the flop because of the draws. As played, push the turn. |

FYI SB had JcQd

Re: too slow play for aces? $20 180 players sit&go
You should have charged him to get there I would raise the pot on the river then if he wants to chase dreams he is welcome to it. Your hand is strong but far from a lock and you should have protected it.

I would raise preflop and the flop. Even though it looks like you have the nuts, this is an action flop.
Your play is not as bad as it looks from the results though. You were 72% against villain on the flop and 68% on the turn. |
Re: too slow play for aces? $20 180 players sit&go
I think the blinds are too small to induce a shortstack push...speed up hero

Re: too slow play for aces? $20 180 players sit&go
Don't get too cute early in a tourne when the blinds are small.

Re: too slow play for aces? $20 180 players sit&go
You should of min reraised at least, pre. Your giving the blinds odds to stay around & CO wasn't going to fold after betting 4x.
Flop is somewhat scary w/ real possibilities of Flush, str8t/str8tflush all on draws... Flop call was mistake, raise to take the pot or give draws wrong odds to continue .. Pot on flop was what, about 570 or so to you, you should have reraised to 525 - 600 on flop ... |
Re: too slow play for aces? $20 180 players sit&go
in these tournaments, i dont hate shoving preflop. They call with AJ!

Anyway, he probably calls a standard preflop reraise. The flat call is OK in later stages of the tournament at higher buyin, but then the raiser may view a reraise as a resteal. |
Re: too slow play for aces? $20 180 players sit&go
To the OP: please take no offense to the following lines, as we've all made similiar mistakes.
This hand should be a sticky, because it's the perfect real world example of why not to slowplay big hands, but not the nuts. This hand was nightmare after nightmare for you, and your decisions compounded it. |
