Does anyone here actually care about school?

Im a junior in college...it hit me yesterday when I got a midterm back. I got a 73 on it and saw that my TA screwed up and the grade that I should have got was 78...I thought to myself I should go back and say something...but then I thought who am I kidding, I dont even care, its not even worth my time. I maybe do an hour worth of work a week, if that...dont really go to too many of my classes, when I do I just read random [censored] on the internet and dont pay attention. I have a paper due tomorrow that I havent even started and im not stressing, ill probably do pretty bad but I dont care...Is this pretty standard or what?

Welcome to my demeanor ever since 5th grade. Although I didn't graduate college till I was 27 so it isn't a good thing.

Re: Does anyone here actually care about school?

meh, i guess i care, i just do the very bare minimum to do well. i skip a lot of class but i will read/skim the relevant portion of the textbook the night before the exam. i do mandatory homework which isn't a lot. if there is a quiz i'll study enough to understand it which basically means i get an A. i'm good at figuring things out on the spot - many math or math based engineering classes are stupid to the point that i can occasionally walk in blind to a quiz and still score perfect because i can reason through the problem.

i would have gotten the 73 bumped up to a 78 for sure though, I dont care that little.

im a junior computer engineer at a decent enough engineering school.

the problem with school is that we're forced to take too many courses that we don't care about. They should just eliminate all general education requirements.

Take that stuff seriously or leave IMO. If someone else is paying for your education and you don't take it seriously, leave like now.

Agreed. If a school is going to have gen ed requirements, they should be something like "you must at least take courses in 3 different subjects" instead of "you must take 2 semester of math, pass the 200 level of a foreign language, take a history class dealing with euro history and a country outside of europe, 2 humanities classes, 2 fine arts classes, 2 hard sciences, etc." like Tulane does. [censored] annoying. I know what I want to study, and it sure as hell isn't Russian history or psychology or any of that [censored].

I did school for a year and I hated it. I shouldn't have even have wasted my time with highschool. I guess I learned some decent stuff in elementary though, so I don't completely regret that.

freshman in college and i seriously do less than 15 minutes of work a week and i got a 2.8 last semester and probably will be above a 3.0 this semester.
go figure the only class im not getting an A/B this semester in is computer programming I cause since i actually dont know all the information, going to 30% of classes and doing all homework a week late kinda messes up my grade. but yeah, i really dont care all that much i just want to make sure i pass all classes (so im eligible to play lacrosse)

I've gone to one class in the last few months, almost fell asleep. Show up at exams without even having read the book and without having followed even a single class (still passed though ).
A large percentage of the people on this forum are lazy smart non-overachievers. I read a thread in OOT about it. Too lazy to do a search though
