Beautiful Names

In response to boxedIn's thread, and to help create a kinder, gentler OOT, here's a thread for you to post names you find really beautiful. You know, the kind that just roll off your tongue, or are pleasing to say, or get you a little fired up. Post yours here.

Some of mine:

Bianca - I always picture a Bianca as someone elegant yet sexy.

Holly and Molly - I'm not sure what it is, I just love the way they sound. Between this and my redhead thing it's obvious I need to find a good Irish girl.

Katherine and all its variants (Catherine with a C, Katie, Kate, etc.) - I just really like this name. As far as other traditional names I'm a fan of, I also like Elizabeth (and its variants), Emily, and Jennifer. And I like Michelle although I never see anyone with it anymore.

Laura, Julia - I think these are both really classic-sounding names and I've always associated them with classical beauty and strong, sharp personalities. The Julia thing may also have something to do with 1984.

Tara and Kara - I think these sound pretty (Though it doesn't hurt that all the ones I've known were pretty hot).

Jillian - Always liked this one though it may partially be because I knew an insanely hot girl in high school with this name. Smart, too. I also like Jill.

Okay, so I'm kind of easy when it comes to names, I suppose. What are your favorites?

I've always had a thing for the name Colleen. Apparently it's Gaelic for "girl".

Torsten. Technically, I believe it's a Dutch man's name, but I first heard it for a British girl.

Re: Beautiful Names

Oooh, good call on Elise.

Vanessa is another good one. I also like Rachel but not as much as the ones I listed. Chrissy I do like as well but I never see it anymore. I'm also a fan on Lindsay and its variants, even though it was originally a guy's name. I guess I've just known a lot of cute ones.

Re: Beautiful Names

A list of names my daughter(s) shall be called, in no particular order, provided I 1) find a wife and 2) don't get veto-ed.

* Elisabeth (possibly Elizabeth)
* Jennifer
* Charlotte
* Emily
* Kimberley
* Catherine

I like Elisabeth rather than Elizabeth because I don't like the nickname "Liz", but I really like "Beth".

I think they're all gorgeous names, and my heart nearly melts every time I hear them or meet one.

Re: Beautiful Names

Obviously most judge names as being "ugly" or "pretty" based on who they have met with those names. That being said, I have never met an ugly Heather or Jessica.

Re: Beautiful Names

Lisa, Laura. Simple, no hard consonants or grating vowels.
Teresa. Very fluid and sweet sounding to me.
Also always liked Nicole, but probably because I don't think I've ever met one who wasn't really beautiful.

I would pronounce them slightly differently, but not much. The whole "family" of names of this root are hot to me.

Except "Elaine". BO-RING.

The second one is how my name is pronounced; I think it's a lovely name. The long a is actually very sexual and much more appealing to men then the more nasal a of ah-lan-ah (lan rhyming with fan in this case; not really sure how to make that more phonetic).

It also rhymes with marijuana.

I like
Aubrey
Audrey
Brooke
Brielle
Elle
Adriana (long a, so adri - on - ah)

It doesn't matter since I intend to call my daughters Bunny and Coco.

Wait--your name is Allana?

Boing.

Ahem. In any event, yes like "lon" in the middle, not "lan", which you're right, is too nasal and sounds New Jerseyesque.

Re: Beautiful Names

The one name that's stood out to me as really sounding beautiful is Senay (pronounced shen-eye). It's Turkish and the only reason I know the name is from the movie "Dirty Pretty Things." It was Audrey Tautou's character in the movie. No idea what, if anything, Senay means.

My middle name is Lana (pronounced like fluff's but without the first syllable) and I'm definitely going to name my daughter that.

I have never heard of Aubrey - weird.

I also like Grace, a few posts above.
